The S1 is the way to go with those that have bottom drains. I had the E1 and that got stuck all the time so it had to go back. I think if they added the fine filter option to the S1, it would be perfect. Thanks for the review!

Hi, David. LOVE your videos and comparisons. Thank you SOO much for doing those. I've narrowed my choice to the Aiper Scuba S1 and the Wybot C1. Do you have a recommendation as to which one to purchase between the two?
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 14 күн бұрын
Glad the videos help! If you can spend a little more, I would recommend the Scuba S1 over the C1. This is because the C1 is wifi dependant on switching modes/timer as opposed to the more simple Scuba S1 where you can select modes directly on the cleaner itself. There are times wifi just doesn't work so I prefer a physical control over wifi first always. Another great thing, right now, if you check out the Scuba S1 on their main website, you can apply the coupon code "ASAP15" and save an extra 15%. Oh and there's free shipping and no tax! Makes it equal to the C1 in terms of cost at this moment. But I don't know how long that sale/code will last.

Hi David. Thank you for your information... So... How do you think it will be handled with traces of sand inside or accumulation of dust on the bottom that appear after the pool is completely cleaned? Will you clean it? My pool is small, it doesn't usually have tree leaves or anything like that..... Your answer will be very valuable to me. thank you
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 6 күн бұрын
The Scuba S1 will do ok with that smaller dust but it won't be able to catch it all since it has only a fine-filter basket. For that smaller debris, I wish they at least offered to sell an ultra-fine filter basket with the normal S1 but they don't. They only include an ultra-fine option on the higher model S1 Pro version unfortunately

Climbs steps well. My two bottom steps are only about a foot tall and it climbs them easy. But if you have a step at the top with shallow water it won't climb up those. I have two top corner steps/ledges that have only about 6 inches of water that it wont climb. There isn't enough water for it to be submerged if that makes sense.

Hi David, Thanks for your thorough review of this automatic pool cleaner. I am a pool service man, and I am interested in getting one of these products because I sometimes need to work on repairs and other pool maintenance besides pool cleaning when I am at my client's pool site. I want a cordless pool cleaner that can vacuum the floor only and can be done in half an hour or less. How long do you think it takes to finish vacuuming your pool floor with just the floor cleaning mode? Do you have any idea what life span would be for the battery for this pool cleaner? If the battery completely dies, do you know if there's a battery replacement available? Any of your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 2 ай бұрын
Hello! Wow, what a question! A cleaner that cleans the floor only in half an hour or less is very specific lol. Depending on the size of the pools it would take more or less time. This Scuba S1 would actually do a great job at it. If you focus on just the floors of the pool, it cleans for about 45 minutes straight. This doesn't mean that the battery needs to be charged right after one use. On floor only mode you'll get about 3 full runs of floor mode out of it before needing to charge it! The life span for this S1 battery should be at least 2 years according to Aiper's warranty. And it's not simple to actually replace the battery. It's built inside the cleaner and must be taken apart to replace. Since it's a new cleaner we can't really tell how long this battery will last unfortunately.

Great review, thanks for taking the time. I was looking at a maytronics CC but didnt like the cord and lack of waterline. This Scuba S1 is the same price on sale and seems to do a Lot more. Is there any downside to this unit and do you think it will be durable in the long run?
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 3 ай бұрын
I would pick the Scuba over the CC anyday lol! It has more features and genuinely works better in the pool. The downside to the cleaner is that you will have to recharge it whenever it's low on battery so there's no constant power like the corded CC does. The Scuba itself physically feels nice and solid. It has the same 2 year warranty as dolphin cleaners do as well so that's also a plus. I'm really loving the Scuba right now lol

Sorry for the late reply! For some reason this comment was sent to "Held for Review" section and I rarely check those. I haven't had the chance to test a "2024" version of the Seagull Pro but on paper, it looks exactly the same as the year before... I think they just rebranded the name but kept it the same. @imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 3 ай бұрын
I actually prefer the Scuba S1 over the Shark. It costs more but that weekly timer is awesome for a cordless cleaner. But the Shark is more aggressive for waterline cleaning. So depends on what you need. I've never heard of two floor cleaning robots on at the same time. Only a floor cleaner and a surface skimmer cleaner at the same time, that's actually what I do. If they're BOTH cordless cleaners then I can't imagine it doing any harm to each other if they run into each other. It'd be just like hitting a wall and backing out. But definitely not two CORDED cleaners, that's a definite no there.

No I'm pretty sure there's a sensor in it that senses water or lack of water. If it reaches the edge and it's not submerged enough in water, it should back back down into the pool. Similar to how it acts on my very tiny step in the bottom right corner. This step is the tallest and most shallow step in my pool. When the Scuba S1 reaches it it tries to climb up it but after about and inch or so above the step(no water) it backs back down and away from it. Hope that makes sense!

Out of the cordless cleaners I've tested so far in 2024 I'd say yes. But that's according to my own needs. Every owner is different. Aside from the name(N1 vs S1) and visually a different color, both cleaners are the same inside. They perform exactly the same. The reason why they have two names is because one version is marketed towards certain retailers and the other version, to other retailers. The S1 series is sold on Amz and other online retailers and not sold in stores. The N1 series however, is sold on other online retailers as well as in-store like your local pool supply store or Lowes, etc. Hope that makes sense!

Even more worrying is the fact that I can't order a replacement drive belt for it as they have discontinued this model in 2023. The small drive belt on pool cleaners can be considered a consumable, it they have discontinued any spare parts in less than a year then it will become a very expensive brick.

@imdefinitelydavid

If your corded Polaris is still working, the Surfer would be a great addition. One thing you can't do here is have both the skimmer and corded cleaner in the pool at the same time. But if you keep the Surfer in the pool and it's constantly skimming you'll have little to no debris ever reaching the floor of the pool. So this means you'll need to use the corded cleaner way less often. Just make sure to take the Surfer out when you run the corded cleaner. Then swap the Surfer back in when taking the cleaner out.

@@imdefinitelydavid can’t wait for your review on that. I’m wondering if the ultra fine filter, additional sensors, horizontal waterline cleaning, and ability to connect to that solar panel make it a better option than the Polaris freedom and/or Dolphin Liberty.

On paper, it seems to be better and costs less so fingers crossed. One thing I did hear is that the solar panel might not be released, at least not at the same time as the Pro. Might be discontinued or added later on during the year. But I hear a lot of things lol so don't take my word

Unfortunately the longevity of the lithium battery life will always be a big factor at least for me in purchasing a cordless pool cleaner. There are many reviews out for the dolphin models and they will never have the power as a corded unit. Lithium batteries can only be charged so many times and there rated capacity will diminish over time meaning it's run time will get shorter. Are there replacement batteries available for the consumer to replace or will it have to be sent back? I've had many cordless lithium products over the years and some last and some don't. Time will tell and hopefully some users of this will chime in down the road on there experiences with the battery life.
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 10 күн бұрын
Three years or so ago, I would agree with the corded vs cordless debate. Nowadays though, I've used quite a few cordless cleaners with much more power than Dolphin corded cleaners. The real benefit is the constant power supply of being corded. It's more consistent because of it as opposed to cordless cleaners which will start to clean less efficiently as the battery goes down. It's true that batteries degrade over time. I've been fortunate to have tested both the first big name brand cordless cleaners. The Dolphin Liberty and the Polaris Freedom. It's been over 2 years now and although I've been on and off using these two brands, most recently I've began to retest them out again and I would say they're still running like the first week I bought them. I do however, alternate between many many cleaners as you can see. Unfortunately the batteries are built inside these cleaners so yes, we still have to send them off for repair.

@@imdefinitelydavid David, can you include the type of Lithium batteries that come in these cordless pool vacs, I noticed most have Lithium-ion and i recently saw one with a Lithium Polymer. Hopefully these manufacturers will start using the safer LifePO4 batteries which have longer charging cycles and won't catch fire. I enjoy your reviews..

It's the same cleaner, but Aiper lists them on Amz with multiple listings. When they do this, one day a link will work and then the next it won't. So placing all their links down just saves me time checking every listing every day. But yes, all the same cleaner with just a slight color variation in the wheel or brush, etc. Performance and inside, same cleaner.

Hello from France . If this robot arrives on the highest step, wouldn't it risk sending water everywhere? THANKS .
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 2 ай бұрын
Water usually only shoots out from the outlet on the cleaner. The outlet on this is on the back of it so if it did shoot water it would be towards the back. Also, it depends on how shallow the water is on your step. The cleaner is about 8.5" tall so if your water is less than that on the step then it would have a higher chance to shoot water out. Hope that makes sense!

@@imdefinitelydavid Hello and thank you very much. In fact at the top of the steps, I have a bench which is only slightly submerged so the water will be projected out of the pool, a bit like on the Polaris 380 before I found a system at the end of the tail to prevent that . I have just contacted Aiper, marketing should begin for France soon and therefore on Amazon. I really appreciate this company which allows you to test it for 30 days i believe 😎. Greeting 😉.

How well does it compare to a dolphin liberty?
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid 2 ай бұрын
Honestly, the Scuba wins. As much as I love Maytronics, they're way overpriced. That's saying a lot because I do NOT like Aiper on a personal level lol. The Liberty series, the 300 in particular, was the first cordless cleaner with a weekly timer so I jumped on it and loved it. But over the past year more and more cordless cleaners have come out with comparable features(actually even better features) and at a lower price. The only benefit the Liberty has is the ultra-fine filter option. In every other aspect, the Scuba S1 wins. It's much less expensive, it's smart navigation is better, and it has WATERLINE cleaning. I also want to mention that the S1 will have a Pro version soon that will be at the $1k mark(still less expensive than the top of the line liberty 400) with ultra-fine filters, enhanced waterline cleaning, and online app controls... like Maytronics needs to up there game and make their cleaners less expensive or do somerhing special like fly for the prices they charge!

Thx for your answer. I'm kinda interested in the scuba s1 pro but I'm not sure yet if I should really go for a battery powered cleaner or just go with the dolphin e35i, which seems to be really good and also has app control features. I did not have a pool cleaning robot yet and I don't know if the wire would bother me or not.

If you haven't yet tried any pool robot at all yet then yeah, I would say go for the corded robot. However, one thing I would recommend is to look at a robot with a weekly timer. I haven't used the e35i but on paper I can see that it doesn't have one. When I used my first robotic cleaner over a decade ago it didn't have one and I didn't realize how convenient it was until after years of not having a timer. Now, it's one of the first things I look at when looking at robots. Hope that helps!

Having a hard time deciding which cleaner to get. It's between the Aiper Scuba S1, Smonet Cordless cleaner and the Wybot S.
@imdefinitelydavid
@imdefinitelydavid Ай бұрын
I think it would depend on if you want that weekly scheduled timer or not. If so, Scuba S1 would be my choice but that's because I specifically DO want a timer. Plus the future option of being able to plug a solar charger into it to extend battery life more. The Smonet CR6 is the best value option here. Very aggressive wall/waterline scrubber. But no timer. Not a big deal if you are okay with a great simple plug-n-play type cleaner, use when needed type. The Wybot C1 is like the combination of both the above. On sale, it's a value but it has a weekly timer. However, it's very wifi dependent and you can only access the cleaning modes and weekly timer with the app. So you have to make sure you have a good wifi connection.
