actually this formation is known as the herringbone formation. idk what u mean by inverted herringbone? there is a reverse herringbone layout, which is used in the new air canada business class.

Thank you! On these seats, sitting one in front of other actually lends you more proximity to each other than sitting across from one another. If you can get seats on the A side, it's much more private and fewer people will walk on that aisle, so if your young one falls asleep, he/she is less likely to be woken up. Yeah those two would be the post private seats on the plane, and there's an bit of extra space in 9A too.
