Guy Negre of MDI's Air Car engine that runs on compressed air. Emissions are only filtered air that's cleaner than outside air. 300 bars of pressure in carbon-fibre & kevlar air tanks. Car can travel at 110 km/hr and has a 150 km driving range. Refilling can be done by plugging in at home or at a special high-pressure air station. Dual-energy models use small amounts of bio-fuels that can extend the range to over 1400 kms.
Pollution free vehicle that produces zero emissions. When the car stops at traffic lights, the engine stops so no energy is lost because there's no idling.
Go to www.catvolution... for more information.

@fizzguts Conventional air cars, such as the pneumatic locomotives that were available commercially from 1890 to 1930, stop at air stations to refuel. These cars can be designed to go 5 to 500 miles between fillups, depending on the efficiency of the system, the size and pressure of the tanks, and the ingenuity of the designer.

You are a correct, the initial manufacturing process of wind mills, solar panels, air cars, and the materials used to make these "green" alternatives will require fossil fuels. But once these are more commonplace, a smaller percentage of future energy acquisition will require fossil fuels. No, it will not be 100% green. Nothing will be in the foreseeable future, but at least it's a step in the right direction and that's something I think we can all agree on and work toward.

The delivery of electrical power is far more cost effective than the delivery of fuel for the same amount of energy. the loss of the weight of having batteries on board adds to it's efficiency as well as the pollution of spent batteries down the line. Air can be compressed to high pressures in a nearly endless number of ways . Regenerative compressive breaking could also recover spent energy. We better wake up and expand on this technology before we end up buying it from Japan Detroit can do it

Imagine a man that sells ice cream and he is very poor and does not make enough money to feed his children, because the van is gasoline powered, and most of the profit is to pay for the gasoline, suddenly someone gives him a van that works with air , the man starts crying because now he can afford clothes and food for his children, and all thanks to the heroes that put this technology in the market, now millions of poor families will benefit from this technology in the world. May God bless this technology it would be a blessing to the world , and the many poor families that can't afford to pay for gasoline, I am sure God will reward you with the holly Spirit for making these vehicles for the poor.

The European Three-Stage Air Locomotive, 1912-1930 Hodges' patents were improved upon by European engineers who increased the number of expansion stages to three and used interheaters before all three stages. The coal mines of France and Germany and other countries such as Belgium were swarming with these locomotives, which increased their range-between-fill-ups 60% by the addition of ambient heat. .

If you are running on the flat with no hills stops etc you get maximum range Regenerative what ever cannot recover all the energy from down hills and stops. The H. K. Porter Compound Air Locomotives, 1896-1930 Inventor Charles B. Hodges became the first and only air car inventor in history to see his invention become a lasting commercial success. His engine was two-stage and employed an interheater between the two piston stages to warm the partially expanded compressed air with the surrounding atmosphere. A substantial gain in range-between-fill-ups was thus proven attainable with no cost for the extra fuel, which was provided by the sun

Don't be too hasty in your judgement of the air car. I refer you to the MDI website, where there are details of the model to be sold in the USA in 2010. Uses compressed air under 35 mph, & supplements it with burning a liquid/gas fuel above 35 mph. Overall mpg is 108, plus the initial air charge! That beats any current hybrid, easily. True the efficiency from comp. air is poor, but the cost/simplicity of air engine could outweigh this. If the air is generated from renewable energy - worthwhile.

This is unworkable, and anybody that got through thermodynamics (and a lot of people who didn't) know it. Any mechanical or aerospace engineer knows this is just BS. Nothing to do with the oil lobby.

To have some range they need to be very light but then what it you are hit by a normal car?? Batteries really do work we see now with the Tesla. Perhaps compressed air is no longer relevant except it's a dream if you would have compressed air made by wind or solar and then a kind of public city car running on it.. No fossil fuel, no lithium, it's so totally independent of the markets and not much to steal unlike with expensive batteries.

This car is not zero-pollution, it depends how is produced the electricity you use for the compressor that recharges its reservoirs. More than 50% of electricity produced in the world is from fossil-fuel power plants. And a big amount of heat is rejected by the compressor during the recharge. This heat could warm up a swimming pool. Moreover, in cold countries, we need a heater for the cabin of the car, which is powered by the residual heat from the combustion. The air motor produces cold.
