Air Force Football - December 31, 1985

One of the first college football games I watched was that BYU/Air Force game on NBC in the late fall of 1985. To think 30 years later, that game may have been the difference from AIR FORCE playing for a national championship...and that they were beaten by a proud DEFENDING NATIONAL CHAMPION in BYU. Just insane to imagine now.

Was it on NBC, my faded memory always thought it was on the USA Network ( I'm probably wrong)

I cried when Air Force lost to BYU. I had just started following them as I was interested in going there. I was in 10 the grade at the time

That contest in Provo, Utah came down to the game's final play, IIRC.

I attended this game. A 10-1 AFA team defeated a 9-2 UT squad. After quickly falling behind 7-0, this game was pretty much all AFA. Whenever an anti-triple option person insults or disparages the vaunted Wishbone triple option, direct them to this clip.
