lol lets break it down real easy coming from a dude who could only do 5 push ups 15 sit-ups and ran an 18 minute 1.5 when starting BMT. I can now do 50 push ups easy. and max sit ups. running especially where i'm stationed at an altitude of 6600 feet is pretty hard but i still bang out 11 minutes. How did I do this? run three times a week and 1x3's. What's a 1x3? take your max sit-ups divide by 2 then do three sets of those. same with push-ups. Do that 4 to 5 times a week and you're golden. Done. all this fancy muscle work is totally unnecessary. When you write all that down you start to go holy shit i'm never going to make it. youtubers complicate everything. Just do your 1x3's and run 3 days week. that's it. With that work out alone you'll develop all the core muscles you need to so you can get that 90 on the PT test.
@BradyuNunez7 жыл бұрын
Kris Strong correct. 1x3s are taught yto you while at BMT. What was shown in the video was how 'I physically prepared.' Just stating what has worked for me bro. But congrats on the awesome turn around with your numbers and time :) also as stated giving these weighted exercises a try makes this MUCH EASIER when it comes to the actual PT test. Give em a try before your next PT test.
@KevinA19197 жыл бұрын
Kris Strong Hey man could you explain the 1x3 thing a little more
@krisstrong59367 жыл бұрын
1x3's is simple but very effective way to increase push-ups and sit-ups numbers. On the first day Do as many push-ups and sit-ups as you can. The next day take whatever that number was for both and divide it by two, then do 3 sets of that many push-ups and sit-ups. EXAMPLE, first day i do 10 push-ups. The next day I will do 3 sets of 5 push-ups. Each day you want to keep adding 1 additional number to each set until it gets hard. then you stick to that number until it gets easier and keep bumping up your numbers.
@BradyuNunez7 жыл бұрын
Kevin Ayala well said Kris! I'd also like to add that these 1x3s can be done up to 3 times a day! Good luck Kevin :)

I really appreciate you putting out a video with the new standards. I've been preparing for a few months now, and feel just about ready physically. I dropped 60lbs and everything. I'm confused on the minimum time though. Articles I've read said 11:57 for Liberator. I run 11:30 on a decent pace. I'm a lot more comfortable with 13:14 as the minimum. So is the minimum 11:57 or 13:14 like in the video. I leave in a couple weeks, and thanks again

As a retired Security Forces Master Sergeant....I believe that the PT test should be 100% even across the board. With 7 Deployments under my Beret I feel Under prepared and under equiped with any female that cant pick me up dead weight and run me out of danger if the situation should arise. All of my airmen and NCOs were capable of this. I made sure that they could meet my standards because when we hit the desert and are running security for POL convoys that were constantly being targeted by insurgents my main goal was everyone being back at the FOB at the end of the day. The differences in the PT standards makes me sick to my stomach and should be abolished. If you cant do what he/she can do than you do not deserve to wear the same COVER that we do. You have to be able to play both ways. Both offense and Defense. Step up or Sit Down.

yeah of course, i myself just cut down over 30 lbs and i have a ton of videos where i talk about weight loss! feel free to check out any of those videos :) ill also be coming out with a video on how i set my calories up to either lose or gain weight which will be a big help! bc i dont follow any meal plans, i track my calories and macro nutrients and am able to lose weight or gain weight based on a caloric intake. Big tips: dont drink your calories! stick to water, diet drinks or anything else CALORIE free. look at your nutrition labels they're there for a reason. another big one is PORTION CONTROL you can still eat some of the foods you love but all in moderation. but like i said look out for the video i have coming soon on how to set up calories for yourself (because everyone is different) to reach your goals :)

Sorry I missed this. I was stuck on extended duty at Fort Dix for a week without internet. I am catching up on all the videos I missed. My waist is also 29 at 5' 11". Very good tips for passing and exceeded the AF PT test. Unfortunately there are a lot of instructors in the JROTC career field that could not come close to passing the PT test. I guess when you retire, fitness is no longer a priority. Although I have to say, during my week at Fort Dix, I saw a lot of overweight active and reserve Air Force people.

i love lifting. that’s all i’ve done. when you said it doesn’t help much it broke my heart lol but you’re right. it helps with the push ups and sit ups. but for running, i just can’t do it that fast and for that long! any recommendations on how to build cardio/endurance ?
@BradyuNunez7 жыл бұрын
haha we are on the same page on that one! and unfortunately (like lifting) the way to get better at running is to just run more often. I recommend to get on a track and time yourself on your mile & a half. (6 laps on the track.) to see where you stand, also in the process you will start to build your endurance up if you run a mile & a half often. However to try to increase your speed with the run I definitely recommend doing some sort of sprint and speed training. But if you want to have more fun while doing cardio; try playing a sport and your cardio/endurance will definitely go up.
@BradyuNunez7 жыл бұрын
if you do a combination of these things and switch it up every time you go to do cardio, you are gonna smoke that run!

Air Force official pushups only require your elbows to break 90 degrees for them to count though. And to be fair push-up form has nothing to do with your eyes. Thanks for keeping me accountable though!

Sorry if I missed it in the video, but how much rest do you get between events?
@BradyuNunez5 жыл бұрын
there isn't usually a set time between events. it usually comes down to the person who is facilitating the test. Typically sit ups and push ups are relatively back to back then there is a bit more time given to rest before the run

If you're the only one in your flight who scored warhawk, how does that work? Not saying that it could happen but if it did, then what?
@BradyuNunez5 жыл бұрын
that's a good question im sure you'd still reap the same benefits as if more people were to hit warhawk. in my flight only two people got it. but there are other ways, such as receiving more than a 90% on your EOC to get the extra day of town pass. if you're referring to operational though if you max out your score you typically earn up to 3 days off without charging leave.
@Drakeman20035 жыл бұрын
Brady Nuñez is there a time limit on that, the EOC?
@BradyuNunez5 жыл бұрын
i believe they give you an hour or something like that. maybe more

I thought the PT requirements would be harder, I can easily pass it
@BradyuNunez6 жыл бұрын
yeah, I agree. but that's a good thing for you! haha. the pt requirements get harder if you want to pursue a combat job like tac p, paratrooper, eod etc..

Not trying to criticize. I notice you and some other guys aren't even doing the full range of motion with your pushups and situps. Do they count still count them if they're not completed with full range?
@BradyuNunez6 жыл бұрын
good question. when im performing pushups or even benching in the gym id perform the full range of motion of the exercise ( touch the ground or come close on push up-ups and touch the bar to my chest on bench) however the requirement for the PT Test is to hit 90 degrees with your elbow which obviously makes the range of motion shorter. During this test you saw us doing the range of motion that would be passable for the test as we were more performing the exercises for speed and trying to reach a higher number as opposed to doing the full range of motion that would be beneficial for actually building muscle or getting stronger. So that being said the requirements for the sit-ups are just to make contact to the ground with our shoulder blades and to make contact with our elbos/forearms to our thighs.

So why is the army 2 minutes and air force is 1 minute weird
@BradyuNunez6 жыл бұрын
good question, hard to say. Each branch is different with their PT standards

Do you take the PT in tech school?

This test is too biased against bigger/heavier people. If they removed the waist measurement portion, and put those points into strength instead, it would be an exponentially more fair test. Because of these silly standards, we get a bunch of people out on deployment that can barely push 2k-3k lb pallets, much less heavier stuff. At the very least, they should adjust the test standards based on AFSC. People with more muscle mass and bigger waists have to work 3x harder than everyone else since nearly all the points are funneled into the run. If the waist measurement portion was scrapped then such people would no longer struggle and could make up for their slower run times by doing more pushups/situps. There are many different kinds of athletes and a real fitness test would take that into account.

Lovelle i agree and disagree. I’m more of muscular guy as well and actually needed a waiver for my waist at one point but I think the run isn’t anything too difficult either. Military members aren’t meant to only be muscular imo I think the test is pretty well balanced. Maybe they could make the weight portion a little more difficult to get Airman a little stronger as well as having endurance
@Lovelle15 жыл бұрын
@@BradyuNunez The test would be balanced if they got rid of the waist-measurement portion. I wish they would get rid of the waist portion entirely, would make the process so much easier. If they gave more points for strength it would balance out like it's supposed to. In comparison, there's only so much you can do about your waist size, as that tends to be more genetics-oriented.
@BradyuNunez5 жыл бұрын
Lovelle that’s where I disagree. They give up to 36 inches on your waist. To be honest if you are exceeding 36 inches on your waist as a male under 30 than that is more than genetics. That’s when your body fat % comes into play
@BradyuNunez5 жыл бұрын
My waist fluctuates throughout the year from anywhere fro 29 - 33 inches. And that’s after I intentionally put on and lose weight (bulk & cut) and I have a very thick waist. Hitting the standards shouldn’t be an issue unless you’re overweight
@BradyuNunez5 жыл бұрын
Also the point isn’t to make the process “easier” it’s to uphold a certain standard. It makes sure that people are somewhat in shape & a balance of not only muscle but cardiovascular health

I ship in less than a month. I can only do about 30 push ups at the moment. I’ve been working my ass off for months but my gains are SLOW. Should I be worried about achieving the minimum amount of 44 at BMT?
@BradyuNunez6 жыл бұрын
Tyler Clark well I wouldn’t say worried but seeing that you ship very soon I’d say you can’t take your foot off the gas keep working hard! But you are very close :) I recently put out a video on getting in shape for BMT check it out! It should be able to help a bit more than this video as I included some more detail on workouts you can do! Good luck Tyler 💪🏽
