I’ve been a volunteer for going on 2 years and man it’s the best job in the world hands down. I leave for for Army BCT January 14th then on to the DoD fire academy after!

Congrats on graduation. I'll be headed to your squadron, but as a 9S, next month. Your dorm video was a good way to see what I can expect and what I should bring. Do you have any advice for dealing with a room mate or squadron in general?

Honestly having a good roommate and a clean roommate is all you hope for lol. For the most part everyone is chill and as a 9S, you'll most likely be paired with a fire dawg unless things change. You can get to know about each others jobs I guess. Should be just fine tho! good luck!

don't overthink on the test and definitely make flash cards bro! flash cards helped me out a lot. We would do study groups from time to time which eventually faded out but that's something else you can try. Keep a positive mindset and stay focused and you'll get through the academy just fine brother.

honestly man just keep your head in the game. The fire academy will definitely test you and if you stay true and just keep reminding yourself of the reason you did this, you'll be just fine. There were a lot of casuals when I went through and they were always negative. It just shows you who is really made for this job.

Tech school really wasn't that hard as long as you remained focused. It really depends on the block you were in. One blocks test may have been harder than a different blocks physical work. You got this my man. Congrats and thanks for your support

Not sure exactly but there was always a handful of people that failed out of the academy and got switched to a new afsc.

Pursue it man. Talk to a recruiter and let them know this is the job you want. Whatever you do I would not put Security forces on that job list. To be honest, this is a hard job to com by in the AF but talk to your recruiter to the best of your capabilities to se what they can try and do. Its not completely up to them but it wouldn't hurt to try for something you really want.

My son ( who you sort of remind me of) is in BMT and he will be going into Fire Protection after he graduates on 7/26 so your journey is interesting to me 😊 I have question where did you get stationed? @@kasabre2832 Thank you for reaching out! I know I'm so behind on getting content out but anyway... I got stained at Warren AFB in WY. tests varied based on the block you were in. Some were harder than others but honestly with a little studying, one should have no problem receiving a passing score. I assume you're probably referring to upgrade training which is what I am currently doing here at my first base. Its just a process of different CDCs (career development courses) to become more proficient in your job. So in our case for fire protection, it's learning about all the trucks and getting licensed on them to become a driver/operator. Once I finish these, ill definitely get content out again regularly.
