@@KellysCookin You are welcome! I love pork tenderloin (so much so, I don't have one in the house at the moment!) However, I have pinned this to make as soon as I can get one, thanks for sharing this.

OMG! I am from Ft. Madison Iowa and when I saw the picture of the "big as a plate" tenderloin sandwich I about screamed in excitement!! I am 51yrs old and left "home" at 21. I haven't had a real tenderloin sandwich in 30 yrs. I attempted when I first moved away but I wasn't much of a cook, lol! I am defrosting a pork T-loin now! The key is to get them thin and fry them crisp but to keep the meat tender. And the breading has to be saltines or ritz! My husband is is from the deep South and we live in Georgia. I have cooker him my version of "southern" food and now it's my turn to cook some of my favorite foods from the midwest. Thanks so much for the video. What air fryer are you using?

Going to try this soon. Got our air fryer for Christmas and have made Chicken Parm, nuggets, crinkle fries so far. We love our air fryer. Time saver and cleanup is quick and easy. This recipe is simple sand well presented. My wife is from Iowa and had these sandwiches all the time. Can’t wait.

I season my meat , put it in a freezer bag and as I pound it I beat the seasoning in the meat. I make a few and freeze them this way. Or bread them and fry them.

Great video! Born and raised in the midwest but recently moved to FL and learned the hard way that no one sells a good tenderloin down here. Just bought an air fryer so this video kills 2 birds with 1 stone for us. Back in IL, when we made ours, we had good luck with using a box of Cheese Nips (instead of Ritz) crackers. It gave a nice cheesy taste to the tenderloins. SOOO looking forward to trying it out in the air fryer this week. Thanks!

Looks delicious. I rarely happen to have buttermilk on hand BUT I make my own. Simply add a tablespoon of white vinegar to your milk and it will thicken slightly and work just as well. I never really understood the tenderloin being as big as a dinner plate! Definitely trying this in my air fryer 😋 What part of Iowa are you at?
@KellysCookin6 жыл бұрын
Hi Joan. Good tip with the buttermilk! I believe you can use lemon also if I'm not mistaken. I never understood myself about the size of the tenderloin, just crazy. I hope you do give this a try it is so good! My husband keeps bugging me to make it for him, lol. I'm from central Iowa near Des Moines. I'm about ready to move south if it doesn't stop snowing! I hope you have a great weekend!🌹

@@KellysCookin My wife is from Mt. Pleasant, IA; her brother and his wife live in Des Moines. One of the "must have" treats when we visit is, indeed, the plate-size breaded pork tenderloin. I like mine with a bit of mustard; the locals say ketchup or just a pickle slice. Big taste!

Good recipe! There is one change I'd make though: buttermilk instead of milk. The Oklahoma budget steakhouse chain I worked at decades ago made chicken fried steaks & the recipe called for buttermilk. Some stores cheated & made theirs with coffee creamer instead. HUGE difference, in both taste & size!!!

In order not to "pound the hell out of the tenderloin" try actually butterflying it. After you cut it almost in half cut each half almost in half a well and spread it out. It takes less time to pound (thereby not toughening it) and the result will be a more even thickness.
