Please tell momma Monti we loved her recipe! And we're pretty picky about our meatloaf. We made it in the traditional oven and the only difference is I hadn't made spaghetti in a while so we end up using a jar brand that we're okay with. Just a word to the wise guys, make sure you drain the spinach completely like he did! My daughter didn't completely drain it and it made cooking the inside of the meatloaf take a lot longer than the outside. Thanks for the recipe Mario!

dont be afraid to make your own sauce people, it takes no big effort, pepper, onion, garlic and tomatoes, fry until caramelized add spices herbs you like, some salt and pepper paste 10 minutes more cooking and keep in the fridge use for stews, pizza sauce, meatballs anything you can use it on even on toast it is great...
@m3rdpwr3 жыл бұрын
I always make my own sauce, with exceptions. When I'm making a big pot of meatballs and pasta and chicken parm I make my own. However, I use it so infrequently these days that I buy Rao's sauce. And when I do use it, it's usually only a couple of tablespoons. You see, I have very bad heartburn and acid reflux disease. I had to cut down on a lot of acidic foods as well as some spices to avoid the problem. I actually have some plum tomatoes right here now, because I need to make a big pot of meatballs for someone. I also believe I have a video posted of me making the sauce that I prefer.

So, been out most hours of most every day for a week or two now. Probably another 10 days and then I shall be back bringing a little smile to your face once again.. Good luck. New here. Just wondering how the smart oven air is as an air fryer? Trying to decide between that one and the Phillips xxl air fryer. I like all the different functions of the breville but we're mostly wanting an air fryer, and not sure how good it would perform using it that way. Thanks for any insight, and your meatloaf recipe sounds divine! 😊
@m3rdpwr6 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I like to look at the Breville as more of a convection oven, and less of an air fryer. It can cook more than an air fryer, however I don't feel it performs like one. One thing I will be trying next with the Breville, is once it's about cooked, turn on the broil function for a minute of two, flipping in between to crisp it up. If you only have room for one, and you don't have a toaster or toaster oven, the Breville may be a better choice, but again, not really an air fryer in my opinion. The Philips are nice, however even the XXL model is smaller than most air fryers out there, and it carries a hefty price tag.

I prepped 20 pounds of meatloaf mix in 2 pound increments, and put them in the freezer. Most of the seasonings disappeared, and they were salty and tasted of heavy, heavy onion. I was able to use them to make meat sauce, but they were awful as meatloaf. If you want to do meat loaf, I think you will be happier if you cook it, and then freeze. The seasonings to off kilter when they are frozen.
@m3rdpwr6 жыл бұрын
I don't think I have ever frozen my meatloaf, I apologize if I had said that. (I don't recall saying that.) I do freeze my uncooked meatballs, they have always tasted excellent after cooking them from a frozen state.
@sallywasagoodolgal6 жыл бұрын
@@m3rdpwr I was just trying to save you from what happened to me. It took a lot of sauce to use up all that meat loaf mix. I didn't add pork to it, and I do use pork sausage in my red sauce. I made gallons and gallons of sauce before I finished off all those frozen, off-tasting lumps of burger. It was good in the sauce, though. The main flavors were salt and onion. They amplified. My meatloaf is usually burger and ground pork (didn't use it that time), diced onion, garlic, s&p, Lea & Perrins, mustard powder, bread soaked to moosh in milk, and ketchup on top. I don't know why, but it got 2 or more times as salty. I was making a large quantity, so I measured very carefully. I know I didn't mess anything up. It was right, because I cooked one of the pans that night for dinner. Three weeks or a month later I cooked another, and it was plumb pathetic.

If you already have a toaster oven, get an air fryer. I don't feel comfortable recommending the air fryer ovens right now, without more testing. The Breville is a big commitment, due to its price. May I ask what you have now? For cooking applainces?

I did not hear you mention what the actual temperatures were. When you mentioned the sauce, it was kinda garbled how much. Could you show the recipe like others do?
@m3rdpwr6 жыл бұрын
The Recipe is in the first Pinned comment. Oven temperaures were as follows: Air Fryer 330F Breville 350F Oven 350F If you are referring to internal meatloaf temperatures, ground beef should be cooked to at least 160F. I usually cook to a higher temperature, and as it sits, it cooks a little more. Thanks for watching!
@TruthFLA5 жыл бұрын
You added a new spin there at the end with freezing. Are you cooking then freezing or freezing the unmade ingredients?
@m3rdpwr5 жыл бұрын
So, when I make the meatballs, I only cook what I need, and freeze the uncooked formed meatballs. With the meatloaf, I typically cook them all and then I refrigerate what I don't eat. The meatloaf is in small enough portions that it's almost like one per person. The meatloaf doesn't last long, because I can eat that everyday and be happy with it. So there is no need to throw it in the freezer. Where as the meatballs, I may make 70 all of them or so, so I freeze the uncooked meatballs. Does that answer your question? Thanks for watching!
@joehenry17296 жыл бұрын
what type of ground beef was it? 80/20? thank u

88% lean, as I was told to use lean. I use the same in my meatballs as well. Burgers you probably want more fat content.

Hey Mario how's the Breville oven going with air frying... ?
@m3rdpwr5 жыл бұрын
In my opinion, If you are looking for a true air fryer, these ovens are not. The GoWISE oven doesn't do anything well, except it does have rotisserie. The Breville does many things, but I don't care for it as an air fryer. I use it when the oven is too big, and the AF too small. Thanks for watching!
