Air India Express makes emergency landing in Bengaluru following engine fire

An Air India Express spokesperson said, “As flames were seen emanating from the right engine after take-off, the Bengaluru-Kochi flight elected to return and carried out a precautionary landing at Bengaluru. The ground services also reported flames, resulting in an evacuation. The crew accomplished an evacuation with no injuries to any guests.”

Is it necessary or important...to wait for pilot's order to open the door ...when there is fire in the engine???what if the cabin explodes in seconds???as the cabin is compact and all the doors r closed.....and the fire and smoked can anytime fill the compact cabin....i wonder....

Pilot is only person in contact with ATC/GC, they have to be the ones to give evacuation commands. There could be dangers of not following this protocol.
