Worked with Glenn Martinez in Hawaii in Aquaponics. I had a few systems going. Now I'm in Virginia and playing with Glenn's pipe designs for applications in my duck pond.

Hello Gregor, thank you for sharing this video. May i know the name of the part where Glen Martinez's pump injects air. Please indicate the name of the parts needed to connect the pipe in a pipe where the air is injected. Thank you!

thank you i have been looking all over for a better view of the pipe in a pipe airlift by glenn still a bit unclear how the bottom of version number two works. do you have basically the same system like up top just with holes drilled into the inner tube?
@gregorsidler39624 жыл бұрын
that is correct. Like any other airlift pump, you drill holes in the inner tube. If you would like more information fill out this form on my webpage and I will send you some stuff!! www.berninamechanic.com/contact-visitors

Your doing that all wrong. The air needs to enter from the lowest point of the riser tube to be even close to max efficiency. When the air has a long riser run the air bubbles expand and push water slugs with them. You're design is missing out on that effect. Also the water level inside the tube naturally rises above the surface level if you pump air in from the bottom, as the density of the water in the tube decreases. Also if you add an O2 release port at the top and pump air in from the bottom (especially with a fine 02 microdiffuser) the pressure inside the tube will be relieved as the water rises, which will encourage rapid bubble expansion, vastly increasing your siphons pull. I'd say your build is moving less than 25% of the water that it could be with that compressor.

Michael Ptasnik I am trying to understand this system for a Aquaponics system, but the videos I have watch so far do not make it clear, from what you have written above makes it a bit more clearer. Can you let me know once the lift of water is accomplished can the air pump be removed? I assume that it can be and the flow will be continuous. Thanks.
@praestant87 жыл бұрын
Trevor Cole No, the air is what makes it work and must be provided at all times. Water flow with an air pump is not continuous. The pipe depth and height in respect to the waterline must also be equal. It is a very inefficient method of pumping.
@alejandrodelacruz22073 жыл бұрын
So looking at this design, would you then put the air at the bottom going up?
@morphling3373 жыл бұрын
@@alejandrodelacruz2207 Yeah with a hard airline to the bottom so the water pressure doesn't compress the tube like it does with flexi-lines. And the the air stone about 6" from the bottom.
@morphling3373 жыл бұрын
@@trevorcole460 No, it can't be removed the upward vacuum isn't quite strong enough, but it does do most of the work, so if you have a variable pump you'll be able to turn it down once it gets started. Otherwise a very small pump can move that if it's setup right.

Hey, I might be a litlle late, but I saw this video just now and I have a question. What is the difference as thhe air comes in as it is in the video, or if it is connected below waterlevel, or even allmost at the bottom of the pipe?
@gregorsidler39624 жыл бұрын
There would be no difference in pumping the water except your air hose has to be in the water. So you need more space to put the pipe in a hole to pump the water out.

This is a neat pump. On their website the drawings are for sale any more so probably the patent went public. Can you please write the number of patent please ? Or maybe just add a more clear photo or video of the holes at the bottom of the pipe. Thank you!

It's not clear what's at the end of the pipe in pipe
@yuseahuang37504 жыл бұрын
Hello Gregor, thank you for sharing the video, I am confused about the second model, is the holes are drilled at the end of the inside pipe? Does it have the same structure as the first one? If it is the same, is it just a bigger air chamber and no submerged air line? Or it doesn't have a buttom ring at the end of the pipe? Thanks.

@VielofDarkness5 жыл бұрын
@@gregorsidler3962 Are you purposely being ignorant? Or did you just misunderstand? Power being electrical... power being the air pump. Energy comes from action. Ask yourself how a siphon works... the motion of water can create another action... but it's being wasted here. He might as well use a regular water pump, rather than waste time with this inefficient method. Get a clue.
