I’ve travelled in many countries, and to this day, PX’s A300 had the world’s most stunning livery.

Beautiful bird of paradise of Papua new guinea! beautiful as the bird itself, flying high up in the sky, over the tree tops, over the valleys, mountains and oceans it shall go. May the Lord carry you in his hands as you fly. God bless Papua New Guinea and it's people, the home of the Bird of Paradise.

roustus66 We used to fly on the B720 and B707's in the 70's... and QF used to fly their 747 Combi's up when they were an all-747 airline for a moment.

S787iFly I worked for Air Niugini Properties Dept in the early 1980's and as non-flight crew was lucky enough to visit the cockpit in flight in the B707 and A300 and invited to ride jump seat in F28, F27, DHC7, RH seat in Talair DHC6 and Bougainville Copper Swearingen Merlin III and jump seat in QF B747 (-200 I think, it wasn't the Combi) during landing in Brisbane in the good old days before security doors. Also visited POM in 1970's in TAA B727 and taking off from the old runway in the B707. That was almost a roller coaster ride and short field takeoff tactics. Thought the poor old thing was going to vibrate to death! Might be mundane for some but for me those few years were a memorable experience.

@@roustus66 I went on this aircraft 4 times a year from Brisbane to POM for school holidays. My father Brian Smith flew dash 7 and then f28. Late 80s early 90s. I went to kindergarten in Arawa when dad flew for Bougair and then started school in Honiara when he worked for Solair. Thanks for your video it brings back nice memories.

@@jennifersmith731 I also have a video up of Aropa Airport at Kieta, Bougainville, showing a couple of Bougair aircraft and a Solair Metroliner. I also went over to Honiara a couple of times and have uploaded a video of Henderson Field at Honiara with some Solair aircraft so they might interest you as well. I came back to Australia in 1985 so a couple of years before your time there. All good memories.

I wonder where that plane went to???
@roustus666 жыл бұрын
After a bit of quick research: It was converted to a freighter in 1998 and ended up in 2009 with Midex Airlines as A6-MDF. They went bust in 2015 & the aircraft is now in storage. Don't you just love what you can find out on the Internet? I hope you enjoyed the video. Have a nice day.

Buy some A330 800s and paint them in this livery and fly them non stop to New York.

Odd looking bird. The engines sit so low of the wing when compared to the 777 today.
