AIR RAID QUICK GAME 5

On the Snag play. I have my Y receiver to run a route thats getting popular in most Spread/Air Raid offenses. X & H stays the same. Y runs a deep fade/wheel to the sideline, and breaks the route based on leverage from the defender thats head up to inside of him. The qb must throw the ball as if its a deep wheel up the sideline. It's a killer vs one high safety. If the FS plays deep or if the QB doesn't like it, it comes down to the linebacker vs the RB, and Z receiver. If he goes with the swing, throw the slant, if he sits in zone, he throws the swing. With the backside hitches along with it, it beats zone, with soft coverage on the hitches. It beats zone and man with linebacker, and the deep wheel route beats one high. All 5 receivers can get in on this play, the defense makes that decision, not the offense. I came up with this play midseason with 3 games left, it gave us 4 touchdowns. One on the hitch and wheel, the back caught 2 swings and scored around 15-20 yards or so.

Coach, on your 7/9 concept, when your flat routes reach the sideline, do they turn and face the QB? If so, do they pivot to the inside or the outside? I ask because each seem to have a strong point. If they pivot to the outside, they can use their body to shield the ball from the defender, kind of like the outside receivers on Mike Leach's Four Verticals play do when the throw is to the outside. If they pivot to the inside, they are pretty much in position to start running after the catch, which seems to be valuable when they have less space to work with to maneuver than they would on a catch more to the inside. Backside of quick game: What do you think about the idea of slant flat on the backside? If one were to do that, what about having the slant keep running vs man, and find grass and settle vs zone? And, have the flat convert to a wheel if they are getting man by the time they get to the sideline? If 7/9 is one of a coach's main plays like it is for you, maybe it would be best to have something different from slant flat on the backside? Staying with double hitches, what if your receivers read the coverage, and against tight man, they convert to A) a fade by #1 and an out by #2, or B) an in by #1 and an out by #2, where you get a bit of a rub by the crossing of 1 and 2? Lastly, on your roll out, does H's crossing route use the same rules as Y's crossing route on 95 Y Cross (under sam, over mike, aim for spot 18-22 yards downfield?

Philly you always have awesome questions and ideas thank you. On shoot route we do stop at sidelines but don't coach which way to turn. He will only get the ball if wide open. Have tried the slant shoot on backside of all quick game but the hitches are easier and I'm just looking for an easy throw vs zone. What ever you go with just be consistent is the biggest thing - KISS. The backside side cross we just teach to build to 10 yards & run fast to work into QB's view. Thanks buddy 👊
