I’m getting pretty bad at posting on Thursdays...I know some of you don’t believe it 😉 but I really do have a proper 9-5 job and sometimes it gets in the way... exhausting week! Anyway, here’s my Air Serbia trip report. Next up, a couple of very pleasant sectors with Croatia Airlines - spoiler alert - some FANTASTIC summer views over England and London in the Split-London video (not the next one, but the one after...) Next upload is on Sunday. Have a great weekend! ✌🏻

Another great trip report Paul! Air Serbia is also on my list of Airlines but more on a long haul flight to JFK. But it was also good their regional product :)

Great .. thanks mate. We traveled on the old JAT ( pronounced YAT) way back in '02 , an adventure and a half in those days.Paris to Beograd return on an old 727 , some guy from the Yugo airforce flying it , landed sideways nose down tail up ... a plane full of ex pats returning home with TV's , Dishwashers and even a few chooks stashed as carry on down the back ... they served brandy liberally and smoked like there was a fire onboard ... done a lot of travel but that trip rates ... one day I will relate the return journey ... bizarre to say the least

Belgrade, an airport that during 1950s till 1980s became important European destination where you would see besides all usual major airliners, also numerous African and Asian companies flying to Belgrade to bring their students that because of Non-Alligned movement were studying in Belgrade univesity. As a buffer zone between west and east with marechal Tito trying to make non-allignes a third world power, Belgrade became a showcase of exotic airliners from dustant countries around the world. With sanctions imposed in 1990s it all ended, and so did non.allignes in its importance ever since cold war was over. But Belgrade is now just recovering, but far from the importance once had. Belgrade and Yugoslavia actually represented a free world, world free from both Soviets and Americans.

You're welcome, I do not live to far from Heathrow so I am sure a plane you've been on has flew over my head lol... I am intrigued to the next instalment. I do not even know how I came across this channel but I am hooked. I love the train videos too. I have travelled on some of the same lines you have done.

I am a retired architect who spent much of my career designing airport terminals, a building type continually evolving. Your posted videos give testimony to this. I find it interesting that Both Serbia and Croatia are heavily invested in air transport, communicating with each other, and with plenty of room to expand. About twenty five or so years ago they were trying their best to kill each other. Building airports seems to be a civilization milestone.

It's also because the old gangsters Milosevic and Tudjman are gone. It is not so as the Croats and Serbs are loving each other, but they are on a good way..

I agree with you, Paul, that Zagreb is a very underrated city. The new airport terminal (2017) is lovely. I flew on Croatian Airlines from Dubrovnik to Frankfurt in economy and was pleasantly surprised, so I will be looking forward to your next two videos!
@FilK795 жыл бұрын
he never said nothing about Zagreb being underrated.... its rather a provincial town... BTW, what was "pleasantly surprising" at the economy Croatian flight? That Croatia has an airline at all?

......I've flown on that 'retro' Qantas👍 There used to be a direct flight from Belgrade to Australia🙂
@Paul_Lucas6 жыл бұрын
That must have been quite an experience. Where did it stop en route ?
@TheNatasha666 жыл бұрын
It was Belgrade ...Athens....Damascus (blinds down on landing, for safety reasons, no peeping...even then there was conflict in that area)....Bangkok....Sydney...Melbourne, exactly 24 hours in total. The best part was we'd get to visit each airport while the plane was refuelling (it usually took 1 hour) . Most passengers got on and off Belgrade/Athens and Sydney/Melbourne. Between Damascus and Bangkok (the longest leg of the flight about 13 hours), they'd set up a screen so we can watch movies, one screen for each section of the plane. We'd be given headphones so we can listen to music and there was an inflight magazine, too. The stewardesses wore these pretty green/blue floral uniforms, I used to sit there in absolute awe. Very fond memories!🙂
@alecsmith48946 жыл бұрын
Natasha Stojsic was that with Yugoslav Airlines? I used to fly them regularly from Beirut to London and the flights occasionally stopped in Damascus!

Very nice trip report. I think that Air Serbia will start replacing the existing A319 fleet with A320 neo starting in the 2nd half of 2018. The ATR72 aircraft date back to the JAT era. Maybe they are going to replace those too.

Enjoyed the vid as always Paul but quick que...I notice u take a lot of short, eastern European trips on smaller carriers, many of which fly older aircraft. This is one of the many reasons I subscribe and enjoy ur vids...but do u ever get even a lil worried that safety standards for these smaller airlines in smaller countries might not be on par w/the major carriers and routes, or does the age of some of the aircraft ever bother u?? Just curious...Thx again for posting...Nate- Pittsburgh, PA

Hi Paul, I've just been looking back over the numbers viewing your vlogs. Clearly train trips get the most views but apart from that there doesn't appear to be a discernible pattern. Have you ever analysed it. Probably a bit boring and not a pressing priority though. Don't stress the Thursdays and keep the focus on quality. Cheers!
