I’m gradually getting back on top of publishing twice a week... making up a lot of ground! Thanks for being with me on this round the world tour, enjoy the little teaser of Saudia at the end... Next week I move into some really exciting stuff and I leave Europe and start ticking off some cool airlines. Saudia first, then Citilink, Malindo, Thai, Scoot, Jetstar, Cathay Pacific and lots more! Also, thanks for the polite and constructive feedback you’ve given me about the sound levels. I’m almost there with it now! I really appreciate all the comments you guys leave and I really do read every one, even if I can’t give everyone a response. Q and A coming in a couple of weeks and some exciting channel changes shortly after that 😊😊

Hi 🙋 liking the new concept, but just a thought .. not everyone has access to these airport lounges you visit everytime you travel, so have you ever thought about adding maybe a brief look at the various food and drink areas available in and around the airport instead ? Would change it up a bit🍵🍴

The standard pitch on Alitalia's A320 family in Economy class is 30, not 29 inches. The worst row on Alitalia A319, is row 9, as the pitch is very bad. Usually when flight attendants see tall people seating in that row, they look for other available seats and offer the passengers to move to another seat. ACE juice is not for everybody, but trust me, it's a very nice mix and helps you boosting the vitamins in your body.
@Paul_Lucas6 жыл бұрын
I’m surprised it’s 30 - maybe the seats are thicker than I’m used to, as it did seem very tight!
@universe8766 жыл бұрын
Paul's Trip Reports Oh you should try Transavia, pitch well below the 30 and very thick seats, not to mention they are usually not very clean. That's the worst seat I ever had. Alitalia has Recaro slim seats on their A320 family, but I agree they are not super slim like the ones of some airlines.

Love the new format, Paul! So much more fluid & less structured than your previous vids...it gives an overall sense of anticipation of what's to come next. The only critique I could offer: during the non-speaking parts (pre-takeoff, etc), a random text box with descriptions or observations would be a good addition to kind of match the old style.

Flew my first flight yesterday. Went with Flybe (BE1035) from Manchester to Aberdeen. I can now understand why you do your travelling thing. Okay, so my flight was only a short 1 hour regional flight, but I loved it all the same and I have a better understanding of why people get that "flying bug". Hell, I even encountered an aborted landing and go-around procedure in that flight. Of all the times to happen, it just happened to be on my first flight. Really looking forward to my next flight (BE377) from Exeter to Manchester. And as I've said in previous comments, you've been instrumental in inspiring me to try flying. I'm gonna get my passport sorted out and get out and about some day soon. ☺️

Actually, Alitalia has been flying to South America for over 70 years without interruption (other than the short period when the old Alitalia went bankrupt and was grounded). This is not surprising, considering the huge number of people with Italian ancestry in the continent, especially in Brazil and Argentina. Both São Paulo and Buenos Aires have more people with Italian ancestry than Milan, and even their respective local accents of Portuguese and Spanish have very strong Italian influence in pronunciation, intonation, and vocabulary, brought about by the large number of immigrants who came in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Many Italian companies also have large investments in South America, such as FIAT, Parmalat, and TIM (Telecom Italia Mobile).

A friend who worked in Brasil and Argentina once described the Argentines as being Italians who spoke Spanish and longed for their homeland England.
@goytabr6 жыл бұрын
Hugh, the version I know is slightly different: the Argentines would be Italians who think they're English, but speak Spanish. There are some much more cruel definitions of them, but I'll refrain from posting them, as in fact I love that country and its people.

Caracas, Venezuela was proudly served by Alitalia since the end of WW2 until recently. “Only a 22 hour flight,” said an ad from 1952, when they upgraded from DC-4s to DC-6s...
@goytabr6 жыл бұрын
+Gustavo Machado, yes, but unfortunately, like most international airlines, Alitalia pulled out of Venezuela when the country's extremely unstable economic and political situation, and the near-impossibility of performing currency exchange operations made Alitalia simply unable to cash the revenue of tickets sold in local currency. A couple of years later, the Venezuelan government is said to still owe Alitalia hundreds of millions of euros in withheld funds. The few remaining foreign carriers in Venezuela are only accepting payment directly in strong currency (which is technically illegal in Venezuela, but widely practiced and tolerated). After ending the Caracas service, Alitalia flew to Bogotá instead for a while, but later axed that route as well. Now its only South American destinations are São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Buenos Aires, and Santiago.

How about flying the Phoenix and doing a trip on Gulf Air. No longer available to HKg unfortunately.

Definitely agree about the legroom. I flew Düsseldorf-Rome in an Alitalia A320 in May 2017, and the legroom was horrible, my height (202cm/6'8") and the fact i was stuck in a middle seat didn't exactly help.

I spent quite a lot of time in Milan, Bologna and Rome giving me the opportunity to fly Alitalia in Italy and in Europe. When they flew the MD80's they actually had what we Americans call domestic first class 2x2 seats in business. They staff while stylish, don't much like to mingle with their customers, and usually disappear into the galley with the curtain drawn tightly around. They have way more staff then they seem to need with the young guys chatting up the young gals for most of the work day.

Last February, I flew Swiss from Zurich to Athens in Economy. If I remember correctly, it was aboard a 320. Otherwise, Swiss' service was excellent.

I am going to have to look up the Priority Pass thing, as you mention it a lot. Also, thanks for the heads-up about the seat pitch. I /am/ a tall guy! 31" is pushing it, for me. Could it be Vigno di Valle? If it's northwest of the city, that's the only name I can find. I don't see water near it though, and it was originally a seaplane base.

Haha, Italians know how to make coffee. As far as the company is concerned, they actually have a lot of passengers and in the 2nd quarter they claim their EBITDA will be balanced. Just like Air Berlin it's the debt that is the problem, not a lack of customers. That's why so many investors including Lufthansa want to buy it - but without the debt, of course. Lovely video again, was waiting for that one!
