I’d been lusting after this gem since it came out and its finally mine with the SH2 plugout. It sounds insane, so much power to it for the price! Roland are always so ahead of their time when launching products that makes a lot of people diss’em because they aren’t ready to move on. 15 years down the line they’ll all be begging for a remake… the story continues..

I have the same exact synth. I even have the plug in / out SH101 on it. The synth is so powerful it can replicate so many other synths or go into it's own world. With the firmware, it adds even more synth replications, that requires more menu diving on OSC 2. I would like to add that I can't play worth beans, but I love that thing. Add external guitar pedals and one goes into heaven.

Honest question. Why do envelope controls (ADSR) which are rarely touched while playing, get nice linear sliders, while things like OSC mix, cutoff frequency, resonance, and others which are usually played with as part of the performance get small rotary knobs? Is there an usability reason or was it done just for looks? I personally think the Alesis Micron (for example) got it right on that front.
