See this is the explanation we needed. The whole get your esim in seems fine but the APN settings and all that is never discussed. I am about to use this on my next trip as a previous experience with a different company have me lost at an airport since there never was clear instruction on what to change in the settings. I'm not sure for Android. When I used Airalo on Iphone going to Germany, you have the esim only using data. Your regular sim is still there if you use regular cell services.

In case someone else runs into the same problem: I did have both sims turned on but selected my foreign esim for mobile data. Except I suddenly got a message about charges on my home sim. I saw a recommendation to turn off your home sim completely as you cannot toggle roaming seperately (on my samsung s22 at least).

I took it when I traveled to Germany back in February, and it didn't work when I most needed on the airport to book a train from Frankfurt. I needed to connect to wifi to finish the setup. I was very upset.

Hello, I live in the US and have an unlocked compatible eSim phone that I will be using in Italy in October. I am traveling this week to a location in the US that service does not cover so I do not have service, I would like to use Airalo to use there so I will have service. It looks like I have it installed and setup properly after watching your video but I do not want to use it until I get there tomorrow. How do I toggle it off so that I am using my regular Cell phone service now and then toggle back on tomorrow when I get to my destination? Your video was excellent but this part was not clear to me.

Hello, I just bought an airalo package for Germany. My trip is next week, I want to activate it but there's no option on the application like that: "activate now"; is it normal or something has changed?

I just contacted airalo and they said that the "activate now" button won't appear until your new eSim is in the destination country and it connects to a network it recognizes. You won't see the "activate now" button in your home country, and that is normal. Wait until you get to your destination and it's supposed to activate automatically, or maybe then use the activate now button. we'll see...

Great explanation! I'm currently in the Philippines, but I've already purchased an eSIM for my upcoming visit to Dubai this week. However, in the app, it says "Not Activated." I believe this is because I'm not in the UAE yet, right? I've already installed the eSIM and set up the APN, but I couldn't see the Network in the list of Network Operators. I assume this is also because I'm not in the UAE yet. Can anyone confirm?

@emilhuseynli4252 oh yes, it did! Should be fine. Just make sure you are connected to wifi so you can activate. I activated mine at the airport when I landed

When you are home and on Wifi, does installing and activating the eSIM turn off your home SIM? Can you turn your home SIM back on to use at home until you get on the plane?

@@christiancarroll6969 Airalo advised that installing an Airalo eSIM will not impact my carrier SIM (although I have a carrier ESIM and 2 eSIM capabiity) Thay added, For the activation, please be informed that the eSIM will only activate when connected to a supported network at your destination. Therefore, if you are still at home, it is advisable not to attempt to activate the eSIM. Personal note: My plan is to deactivate carrier eSIM once on the plane for out of US travel. The second Airalo comment suggests that WiFi not needed upon EU arrival for activation so I will wait until then.

Watching it slowly helped me understand would be great if you told us how do you disengage your home country network. When I travel overseas, I have my phone on "airplane" mode and it stays on "airplane" mode until I return to my home country. When using the airalo esim, do I use it the same way.

Leaving for Italy in a few days. I am going to get Airalo esim, however I've watched some videos recently that say you have to have an Unlocked smart phone to use an e-SIM. This sounds contradictory to friends who have used e-SIMs. Do I need an Unlocked phone to install an Airalo e-Sim ?

@@MGamerkid You can check by dialing *#06# on your phone. A bunch of numbers and barcodes will appear. You are looking for the EID number, which is the serial number that matches with the eSIM embedded in your device.
