I graduated the Airborne class 39/87 training course from USAIS Airborne School Fort Benning, GA in 1987. I am a retired military officer from Thailand with a Master Sergeant rank on the day of my entry as an American Airborne student. It was the first course I attended the US Airborne school and the first time I set foot on the American land, a course that I am very proud of. American training is surprisingly strong, and they were sincerely help each other. We have gained knowledge about new military equipments; We received a brand new dark olive green umbrella bag that different from the Thai Army's parachute bag that is pale brown. We jumped from a huge four-engine jet plane into a skydiving arena in Alabama. both parachuting with field equipment and jumping at night It's exciting and very proud. I'm glad to have so many American paratroopers friends; and I will never forget the training of the Airborne USA course back then and to this day. I am now 72 years old, retired former paratrooper of the Royal Thai Army, Lt.Col. KASETSART SANTA SONGKRAW. A former fighter in the Vietnam War "AIRBORNE ALL THE WAY"

I went to jump school at Benning in '75 as a very young Recon Marine. I had just finished BRC (Basic Recon Course) and then Pre Combat Divers school (that was a ball busting class...LOTS of pool time and class time) and got back to LeJeune for only a few weeks with 2nd Recon and was just getting my feet wet with humping with them when I got orders to Benning for Jump School. It was a little odd being a Marine on an Army base and the instructors liked harassing me a little bit and I got it from all the gung ho soldiers for sure but all the jump masters were very professional. After the first couple days I settled in and had a blast. The PT and operational tempo was very light by Recon Marine standards and the chow halls were like 5 star restaurants compared to Marine chow halls. I ended up gaining almost 10 lbs. as I was eating every chance i got and not doing much PT. As I mentioned above the Pre Combat Diver's school I had just recently completed was a real ball buster and I had only just fully recovered, and I was very happy that jump school was so much less mentally/academically and physically demanding. But it was really weird being in formation and "marching" (If you call what the army does as passing for marching, haha) with army cadence, that was like being on another planet, but overall, a really great experience and the 5 jumps were totally cool....Semper Fi

I graduated in 1987 and we were told we would not be getting bloodwings. But before out platoon was dismissed after the graduation ceremony, our Black Hat pinned and gave each of use bloodwings while we were still at 'Attention'. I'm so glad he did.

Lolol he'll be alright. Airborne isn't even as prestigious as it used to be. It's now a pointless school that doesn't add or detract. It's just a fun little school.

2004 grad here and had legacy family come to my graduation and they turned my chest purple. My pinned wings were broken and had to be replaced. I understand anti-hazing but the blood wings are a proud tradition that no paratrooper would ever turn down. It’s a productive pain imo

I remember this like yesterday. Graduated in February 1992 and was pinned the traditional " BLOOD WINGS" on my chest by my Black Hat Instructor. 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯
