Airbus A340-600 taking off Munich MUC 08L in the evening

Hi everyone!
Here comes a quick video of yesterday's departure from Munich airport EDDM.
We were planned to take our A340-600 to Boston Logan airport in 7:30 hours and departed MUC's runway 08L with 291 tons for the INPUD 3Q RNAV departure.
This time, I planned to offer you a bit more inside footage of the cockpit with a second camera being attached to the backwall but unfortunately, it fell off during push-back, so I sort of lost that footage...next time then... ;-)

Great video! I love the A340-600, a beautiful plane and very comfortable.. I was so happy when I finally got to fly it a couple of years ago (PEK-FRA). Especially when COVID hit a year after and most of them made a one way flight to the desert..

Yeah, great aircraft, very nice to fly but a bit challenging during gusty conditions. ;-) We were very happy to get them back into the fleet but it seems as if they will be phased-out again starting next year, depending on availability of new A350s and 787s. Actually, it is the present plan, we will see what will happen...

Servus! Heard that the A346 will be gone after A35K starting to enter service 😢 will you go to 350 fleet since it’s the same type rating, or 779?

Yes, the plan seems to be to begin to phase them out again soon, maybe next year. So far, it looks as if I might be going to the A350, depending on the status of the remaining A330s and A343s. We will see... ;-)

They are usually parked at the lower or higher end of the H gates or at the satellite (L).

Perfect video captain. I've always wondered, generally at night departures, if the departure is from 26L, then the aircrafts which need to go with left heading started their turn after Isar, but the ones which departed in day time started their turn immediate after their departures. What's the reason for that may I ask ?

Thank you very much, appreciate it! Regarding departures on runway 26L: the difference in initiating the initial turn is due to the nature of the respective departure route. Some require you to turn after passing 1900 ft at the earliest, others not before passing a point 15 NM ahead. The main reason for this should be noise abatement which would explain why you noticed the aircraft making a late turn at night (in order to avoid overflying certain populated areas at low altitude and high power setting) and earlier turns during daytime.

I'm a huge Flight Simulator fan since 2004, still flying quite frequently from EDDM in Microsoft Flight Simulator, only with A320 :) I used to live nearby EDDM and did so many planespotting. Maybe you were the captain one of those A340-600s that I spotted :D Thanks a lot again captain, best regards !

Ach ja, wie schön wäre das gewesen, sowas in zwei Jahren zu meinem Job zu machen. Leider war auf die letzten Meter nach der GQ Schluss... Danke für´s teilen. Es geht nichts über eine A346.

@@PapaPadde Ja, es gibt noch andere Wege, das stimmt und die werde ich auch versuchen zu gehen. Jetzt mache ich erstmal mein Studium und danach habe ich United, American oder allgemein Airlines drüben in den USA primär im Fokus. Bei der LH ist es halt Wahnsinn, wie viel Geld mittlerweile am Ende schon für das Auswahlverfahren drauf geht und dann bekommt man am Ende nicht einmal einen Grund, warum es nicht geklappt hat. Wenn es beispielsweise an meiner Art liegt, dann wäre es mir eigentlich schon ganz recht zu wissen, woran ich arbeiten muss. Das muss mir mal einer erklären, woher ich wissen soll, was ich nächstes mal besser machen muss, wenn mir das keiner sagt. Klar, dass man keine Auskunft darüber bekommt weiß man von Anfang an. Trotzdem ist das recht schwach, dass man die Leute das alles selbst zahlen, und sie am Ende noch unwissend im Regen stehen lässt. Das scheint allgemein ein Problem der LH Group zu sein, dass man sich für nichts und niemanden interessiert, solange es noch keine Angestellten sind. Das merke ich selbst im EFA Auswahlverfahren, das merken meine Kollegen aus dem Verfahren, die es zum Glück durch geschafft haben und die mir jetzt berichten, dass die Kommunikation mit der Schule eine Katastrophe ist und das habe ich schon vor zwei Jahren gemerkt als ich bei der EW im Flugbegleiterkurs war.

Dem kann ich leider nichts hinzufügen und glaub' mir, ich würde es anders machen... Dennoch: erstmal das Studium zu absolvieren ist eine sehr gute Idee und dann wird man sehen können, wie die Lage ist und was sich für Optionen ergeben. Ich drücke auf jeden Fall die Daumen - denn trotz aller 'Störfaktoren' ist es nach wie vor ein wundervoller Beruf! :-)

@@PapaPadde Danke für Deine Daumen ;) Der extreme Reiz am Cockpit ist nie verloren gegangen. Das Jahr bei Eurowings in der Kabine hat den nur nochmal angehoben, trotz 11-12h Duty Time Standard im Sommer und teilweise dazwischen auch noch Minimum Rest. Wer einmal vom Fliegervirus infiziert ist... und so weiter... Zwei meiner Eurowings INI Kurs Mitstreiterinnen sind übrigens jetzt zur LH gewechselt und fliegen offenbar mittlerweile auf A340 ab FRA durch die Gegend. Da die Münchner A340er ja soweit ich weiß alle mit FRA Crews bewegt werden, wirst du den beiden sicher mal über den Weg laufen:)
