can just 0.2 degrees makes the difference?
@zacharysylvester8349
@zacharysylvester8349 8 жыл бұрын
If you compare two right angled triangles, with a difference of 0.2 degrees and you scale them by a large enough factor (pretty vast distances if you think about approach paths) and then you compare the hypotenuse of both triangles, the difference will be quite significant. Therefore for the same spacing distances between aircraft on final you can have an increased number of aircraft established on the glidescope within a certain time period. It's pretty much basic trigonometry.

Higher approach angle before landing? That will make arrivals really eventful.

NihselAviation so dumb, did you actually listen to what they were saying?

Have you been in a steep landing in a passengers perspective? It may be smooth, it not fun for us. I can understand from a pilot perspective, but had they even asked the passengers.
@Matmamtmamtmamtmamtm
@Matmamtmamtmamtmamtm 8 жыл бұрын
NihselAviation It's not up to the passengers. They have no say in it. Besides, creasing the glideslope by 0.2 degrees will not have any affect on landings. You clearly know nothing about aviation.

Try landing in a mountainous area. The approach angle is completely different. Not all landing sites are the same. Check out few places like Toncontin and Aspen. Or even Eagle-Vail Airport. Maybe you guys (or kids) should do more research on other airports that have different approaches. Stats may say one thing, but it comes down to the pilot. If they don't know how to do a good landing with these changes, then you will get a hard landing. The whole point of this video was that this changes are being made to reduce noise pollution due to people complaining about engine noise from the jetliners. There shouldn't be any need because the new engines that are rolling out are way more quiet.

I'm surprised that this hasn't been tried before, since it seems such a logical way to do things. In other fields, for example CNC programming, that's been done for ages. If you're preparing a complex toolpath for output to a CNC machine, you approximate it with circular arcs, rather than lines, since it gives better tolerances and reduces jerk on the machine. Same here!

This is a fancy way of selling new airport infrastructure to the public. I think it's great as an Airport manager but who's picking up the cost? Am sure that all those stakeholders have vested interest

Good technologies but makes me worried that one day robots are going to replace us as Pilots
@YazanTheFighter
@YazanTheFighter 8 жыл бұрын
dontwanttosignupok On the other hand that would destroy a certain slice in a Society..that would have no jobs at all. There are hundreds of thousands of pilots in the world. We're concentrating on increasing safety of one side but destroying the other . I think as a pilot the technologies we have in our hands are enough..

dontwanttosignupok We don't flow checklists only but we interpret every single A/C system . The type rating training for the a320 for example takes about 30 to 40 days of extensive training and testing and understanding the A/C systems thoroughly . Yes , the robots react quickly and precisely however the human brain is more powerful creative innovative and more complex than any kind of robots ever made. To summarise then the human and robot are a perfect combination not only in Aviation but in many different careers .

dontwanttosignupok No one wants to fly in a cold heart drone. Pax would never be comfortable wondering why the cockpit area has no windows or flight crew. But i do agree pilots in airliners these days look more like heavy machinery operators than pilots.

When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord, and to offer the sacrifice of a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons, in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord. Now there was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout, awaiting the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Christ of the Lord. He came in the Spirit into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus to perform the custom of the law in regard to him, he took him into his arms and blessed God, saying: "Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace, according to your word, for my eyes have seen your salvation, which you prepared in the sight of all the peoples: a light for revelation to the Gentiles, and glory for your people Israel." The child's father and mother were amazed at what was said about him; and Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother, "Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted -and you yourself a sword will pierce- so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed." There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. She was advanced in years, having lived seven years with her husband after her marriage, and then as a widow until she was eighty-four. She never left the temple, but worshiped night and day with fasting and prayer. And coming forward at that very time, she gave thanks to God and spoke about the child to all who were awaiting the redemption of Jerusalem. When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their own town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.

Implement better lighter and stronger materials and better wing design so airplanes can survive engine explosions unlike 777s.
