Such a privilidge to be invited to fly as part of the Royal Navy & Royal Marines, Atlanta Future Forum event off the coast of Washington with the amazing HMS Queen Elizabeth Aircraft Carrier. The UK Embassy did a spectacular job of coordinating and it was off the scale awe inspiring to be flying around a +$3bn machine like this! Huge fun to surprise all the Pentagon, DoD, US Navy and MOD leadership coming on the shuttle vessels to.
A pleasure to be launching this re-edit in the lead up to Victory in Europe Day (VE Day). The utmost respect and thanks to those who gave their lives to give us out freedom 75 years ago.

Glen Scott Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth Plagueis The Wise? I thought not. It’s not a story the Jedi would tell you. It’s a Sith legend. Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying. The dark side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural. He became so powerful… the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice killed him in his sleep. Ironic. He could save others from death, but not himself.

You need to have a look at the competition for this concept: - Flyboard Air: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5ylXnV9gr2rkMU (has crossed the channel but needed a refueling stop in the middle) - JB-9/JB-10: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXqwiIybhZyCZ9k - small jet wing: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rmPWhWyBpK58la8 (he can take off by now, no need to be dropped from the air) The "arm-strapped engines" prevent you from actually using your arms for anything other than flying, which limits the usefulness and makes all the other options better.

@Revotry Nope! In fact, it can be operated in manual or fully automatic mode, where the system does all the work. It needs to be this way because in a real conflict situation one of the main objectives of the Phalanx is to act as a point defense system by destroying and repelling enemy missiles that could destroy the ship. In the modern world where missiles travel at supersonic speeds, a human for many factors may not have the reaction time fast enough to prevent the attack, so the calculation and firing order is up to the defense system itself. But of course, speaking of a conflict situation. In a normal situation like this, any aircraft or object that approaches an aircraft carrier is certainly checked and warned.

Im not quite sure but by the looks of it (if you’d kindly look at where the beret touches his bare head) the beret is sitting quite tightly so I’d assume that perhaps rubber is used, as in, a rubber placed at the bottom of the beret sitting snugly between a long piece of cloth all the way round the diameter, stitched on the inside of the beret and outside (I don’t think so). Though, more reasonably perhaps and with more legitimate evidence (of course from my own beret since I was in a uniformed group) is that the lace/ribbon (which exists where I previously said the rubber lace might have) is tied very tightly (it is not impossible, just simply uncomfortable, especially if there is a crest and the cardboard upon which the crest sits on is pressing onto ur forehead). The beret itself also has some weight, and also by some physics, as mentioned in another comment, a well seasoned beret can actually sit quite nicely on ur head. Afterall, dropping your beret is like losing ur rifle. You learn how to balance it after a while. I would suppose.

With the lack of hand control, they will probably not be hand controlled, maybe a helmet that tracks where the eyes are looking, and thats what the gun aims at. It doesnt seem very realistic. Maybe these will be more of short range recon stuff, or if possible search and rescue(potential to land at random locations and listen and wait for the missing person, which helicopters cant do). Really tho, drones will likly be able to do both these things extremely efficiently soon anyway, even automatically.
