You are a lucky guy. One of the few to (ever) fly this plane. They have been grounded for several years (lack of the spare parts and some technical issues as well) and it isn't sure whether they would ever fly again. Poor Cubana, one of the oldest airlines in existance, yet they barely have any operational planes (a bunch of ATRs and a few Il96)

Buen avión An- 158 viaje mucho en ese avión excelente autonomía lastima que como en todo en Cuba le dieron mucho queme que los destruyeron a todos ya no vuelan ninguno mi ultima experiencia fue un vuelo con este avión desde Santiago a la Habana que a mitad de camino tuvimos que regresar porque por nada se cae el avión por suerte llegamos a tiempo a Santiago yo creo que fue el ultimo An-158 que voló en Cuba y nos salvamos ese día de perder la vida.

Ay compańero, estás exagerando. Si fuera tan peligroso cómo dices, el avión podría aterrizar en uno de los aeropuertos en camino. Y hay muchos: Bayamo, Manzanillo, Las Tunas, Camagüey, Ciego de Ávila, Sancti Spiritus, Trinidad, Cienfuegos, Santa Clara. Y no es culpa de los cubanos si el avión tiene problema de mantenimiento por falta de partes que no llegan ni de Ucraina ni de Rusia.

Actually, they can. When the new rules for charters to Cuba were promulgated, there was a provision for Cuban airlines operating some of them. For some reason, that isn't happening, but in theory it could. Also, a little-known fact is that Cubana regularly overflies U.S. territory in its flights to Canada. And it has ALWAYS done so, without any problem, even at the height of the Cold War.

Ibelieve this aircraft is still out of service with Cubana Airlines of Cuba? They were having alot of issues with the A158 also they had the crash of one earlier in the year in while taking off in Russia.This was a Russian airline not Cubana.

would be great for regional Australia like the Dash 8 Q400 but its faster. we do have a jet kzbin.info/www/bejne/mn6oXoeYht2DiKc but it needs a set of stairs to come in where the Q400 or An-158 don't need it but they can use this kzbin.info/www/bejne/eWObnXp7pZxsmqs try and make a ramp like that for a 737 lol.

One thing I notice in all videos and pictures showing Cuban airports: the CROWD of ramp agents in the apron. Socialist full employment policy? Maybe, but pictures of North Korean and old Soviet airports aren't like that.
