Well... With $1.8 billion dollars in the humanoid robot industry as of 2023 I'd say they're definitely "in the game." Also... This robot isn't being "planned" to be sold, it IS BEING SOLD, at $16k. That's means many rich people have already bought one. They're limited in ability at the moment, so the want and need for one are still very small, but that's going up dramatically with our increases in AI and Machine Learning technologies.

@@DIYDaveT Not a factor at all. ALL robots are defined as to what they can do by mostly the AI not the ROBOT. Sure, weight limits, strength limits, but for a household chores robot, this can get it done. You need to check out Nvidia's universal AI for robots with its learning abilities. Already a dozen companies using it for their robots. Makes sense, as it shares the cost to develop it. Before these go mass market production, the AI software will enable it to already do or learn about anything.

Actually, China just passed more stringent Lithium battery laws than the rest of the world, including USA has. That's right, their batteries will be tested and have more rigorous requirements than ANYWHERE in the world. WHY? they sell a TON of ebikes and escooters every year in their market and CARE about them not catching on fire. The world market for them is TINY compared to their domestic market. so we're benefitting SOLELY because THEY want better quality, so we get it also. no one cares how long it lasts on a charge any more than cares about how long a Ryobi tool lasts on a charge: just swap out the battery and get on with it.

But your mind immediately goes to the negative side, well, I work a slave job and I will be displaced. That may be true. But then you do what you can to buy some slaves and then they plant food for you and harvest and prepare it. They fix your car for you (thus displacing the mechanic which you no longer pay). @@godzillamothra5983 There is well enough tollerance in the force of the bottle breking vs the opening of it, in robotics force is quite easily replicable and fine tunable since basically the dawn of time. Servo motors are easily setup via torque controlls and the force is as steady as possible. I know it can look impressive but to someone that knows automation it really does not look anything special. I am more impressed in the ballance and spacial recognition, well spacial recognition we need more proof this is all not just a fine tuned setup. In anyway the whole robot does look impressive ill give you that

I wouldn’t put much weight on the price. China has a long history of using subsidies to capture market shares and push competitors out of the field. The Chinese government has announced their policy of going heavy into the humanoid robot field. If you want a good looking robot, China also has A LOT of simpler robots that look almost indistinguishable from a real person. They were displayed in a robot show in China last year. They look almost exactly like a real person.

You can get married to a less beautiful woman and bigger size, she’ll just do the same job, chores, bear kids, keep you happy etc. People have preferences and requirements and they’re allowed to. Me saying Optimus looks better than G1 is just my opinion. I am aware of robots just looking like humans.
