I am fine with Airfix having a modern standard lit of every mark of the Spitfire and Seafire. I’d just like a similar approach for Hurricane’s, Typhoons, Tempests etc let alone US and German ww2 fighters as well. I do think the 2 seater was a good choice. I think a lot of people will buy and build it at least once, although perhaps not with the decal options chosen ?

Obviously not in your orbit, but the high satisfaction quotient for me comes from , apart from the obvious which you mentioned, the wide range of genres in the rereleases; Space ships, 1/72 scale boats, 1/48 airfield support vehicles to name but three. Good show, Airfix, something for everybody. As you said though, a new-tool 1/72 Halifax and Stirling are overdue but hey, maybe next year.

I reckon Airfix chose well for this year's releases. Love the Jag, the new Spits are good, and the Stally is a possible for me - a wetish diorama might be on for that. The K2 Victor is one I have wanted for a while, so about time too!

Airfix nailed it - Ordered the following with the 10% discount - 1 x Victor K.2 2 x Jaguar GR.1/GR.1A 1 x Spitfire TR.9 Victor because they are £199 on eBay. Jaguar because I flew in a T.2 when in ATC at Lossiemouth. TR.9. as a friend flew in a Mk VIII converted so want to do him a facsimile. Got to say bit shocked with you doing folded wing Gannet Jamie 😮 - have I convinced you ? Thought not 🤣

Hi Jamie, hope you're well. I'm really excited about this year's range! A lovely diverse and varied amount of releases. The Jag obviously! Looks fantastic, deffo getting that! The Wessex too looks stunning and highly detailed and as you say, many scheme and variant possibilities. The new spits are another winner for me, especially the TR9! The second releases of the newer tooled kits are also really exciting, especially the Liberator! All in all , I think Airfix have smashed it! I've already seen a load of negative nannies comments but you can't please everybody! Nice to hear your thoughts Jamie. Looking forward to the MkXIV vid! Take care mate 👊

I'm definitely getting a Tr.9 and a Wessex. We need to convince Airfix that a Spit PR.IV and XI would sell well as well! It wouldn't surprise me if Airfix didn't do a B-24J as they never went very far with the B-17, we never got an F.

I was surprised (pleasantly) by the B-24D release. Having seen "Strawberry Bitch" at the USAF Museum, i think there's a lot of great markings options for this one. Also pleased about the Gannet COD. Hoping that the TR.9 and Mk IX Spitfires will ultimately yield a Spitfire Mk VIII. Think Airfix is trying to seek a middle ground between Eduard and Tamiya.

I'm hoping that like with the Buccaneer they do the Jaguar in 1/72 eventually. Having seen the schemes that are due on this first edition it has the pointy nose of a very early GR1, so potentially they could do the French A version, once we see the sprues you'll know if a two seater is coming if the front end is seperate to the rear fuselage.
@thescalemodellingcafe11 күн бұрын
I bet it is separate!

Is the Hasegawa Jaguar all that bad? Or, is it just old?
@arrrgee10 күн бұрын
@@davidhansen994 I have both the Italeri and Hasegawa 72nd kits (Hasegawa - 1984, Italeri - 1996), they can be made into nice looking examples but need work to do so. The italeri kit has thick trench like panel lines and no rivet detail, the Hasegawa is more refined but is 30 years old now so an updated newer mould would be nice that covers all versions.

@@thescalemodellingcafe Indeed. The new Trumpeter Intruder A-6E TRAM arrives today! 😎. After my A-6 Desert Storm tour I wanted to do an exchange tour to fly Tornados with the RAF but that billet was taken. The Luftwaffe tour was open but the language training scared me away. Something I’ve always regretted. 🫤. Thanks for the information. In addition to my scale model hobby, I’m building a replica Sopwith Camel in my garage. If I can find a hanger I might finish it in 2025.
