My son's recruiter told him the compression shorts must be solid black. The socks are supposed to be solid white. The recruiter said a lot of the stuff on the DEP app is unnecessary. Also he said do not bring mouth wash. Not sure how correct his recruiter is. My son wants to know when you are leaving. He leaves for BMT on July 1st.

Thanks for the comment. On the DEP it doesn’t mention anything about sock colors, so I’m not sure. I agree, probably a lot of stuff may be overstock because they are going to provide us with a lot of stuff. I’m not sure about mouth wash,m either. My recruiter hasn’t said anything about it.

@@JoelLong My son just told me that his recruiter said don't bring too much stuff because it all has to be inspected. He said you can buy it over there. The lint roller is unnecessary, because you can buy it over there. Basically, they told him to bring a minimal amount of items. Also he said they no longer provide running shoes. We are going to buy his shoes in just a few minutes.

Good luck guys. I retired from the AF in 2015 after 22 years. They issued us everything we needed in BMT? If we didn't have it there was a small store we could buy it. That was a long time ago though. I wish you success in your careers. I saw alot and did alot in my career so any questions you guys might have just ask.

Went in open general. In BMT I got to choose from a few jobs and a little while later I was told I was a 2S0X1 Supply troop. Went to tech school at Lowry AFB in Colorado for 6 weeks when that base was still open. At my 6 year mark when I found out I made E-5, I was told I had to retrain into another career field because the AF was downsizing Supply. I retrained into 5J0X1 Paralegal. For the next 16 years I was a Paralegal. It was an interesting job. It's a small career field and very competitive. Tough to make rank. I got to do some cool things when I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan as a Paralegal.

Yes, I used every pair. They are very good to have for PT.

Only 1-2 you won’t use them long. On day 3 I was issued my uniforms.

Can you bring electric trimmer and shaver as long as is battery use and not rechargeable? Cause I have razor bumps.

To be honest, you can bring it...but they will probably end up making you lock it up in your civilian luggage. Even though you may have bumps, you will need a shaving waiver to have an electric trimmer at BMT.

You just need like 2-3 shirts that’s it. I believe they issue your uniforms on day 3 (atleast that’s when I had mine issued). So you will eat civilian clothes for a couple days until issue.

Thanks for the encouragement Brandon.m, I appreciate it. I hope trainees can bring body glide because I am going to. Lol I haven’t read anything that says you can’t. Body glide looks like deodorant so I am not 💯. Compression shorts helps me chaff less if that makes sense 😂.
