Real controller here (ZAB/ZDV, retired)! The most I’ve had on frequency was while working combined sectors, high and Ultra-high, East of ELP. I had forty-seven on frequency and, of course, WX with tops above FL450. An in-trail restriction of 10nm for DFW/DAL arrivals. Two air/gnd transmitter sites that meant working a toggle switch for comm. Time files when you're that busy. I spent three-plus hours on the position that felt like forty-five minutes.

Little tip for RT: try avoid saying the word take-off unless you are replying to a take-off clearance. ATC might get a little itchy hearing a callsign and the word take-off when they know they haven't cleared it yet. Perfect RT would be to call "ready for departure".

Real pilot here and retired Air Force vet and VATSIM controller. Little pet peeve of mine. Nothing too crazy…ATC said “monitor tower”. Meaning you didn’t need to check in to the tower controller and tell him you were short of 15. If he said “contact tower”, then check in with the controller. The landing was a bit long. You can see you landed close to the end of the touchdown zone…Otherwise always good and entertaining video

he's had them months and months. i'm same as you @kryptonic. i'd kill to get a proper controller set that were not frickin logitech. the website alone i hate (soo many scripts, trackers and terrible design and more).. then the deadzone fisaco. such poor quality that the CENTER is "temperature at the factory on the day" degrees off. Seriously. When they tooled the plastic injector mould, they really messy up the tolerances, or rather.. didn't bother with tolerances.. internal parts and the mounting points, are out of positition by some significant margin. I put this down to the testing for the mould was done first thing in the morning. cooler ambience. by mid day, the entire factory is much, much hotter. so the MASTER MOULD on the day of testing (tool) did very few cycles and in a cold environment. (v.early in day) logitech used to be good for all the other stuff. USED (past tense) to be good.

Thanks Airbrain69, it's nice to see this kind of busy-ness and I love the 747. I once had a flight out of LA to Denver that went to 42,500 at an airspeed of 675 indicated. I know that because it was a very early morning flight with about 10 people on it and the giddy pilot came on the intercom and let us know we had this tailwind, speed, and altitude and we should REALLY enjoy this flight. I had a Bloody Mary and REALLY enjoyed the flight...btw, you really "greased" that landing, wtf was that?

Groundspeed (not airspeed)? IAS of 675 knots would be supersonic, Mach 1.9. Tailwind would increase groundspeed, not airspeed.

Air traffic controllers on VATSIM are usually "armatures" that dedicate their focus on certain areas and study actual FAA publications to make the network as real as possible. Not anyone can just hop on and be a virtual controller. It takes several months of training before you can even start to control on VATSIM.

So I am curious at 6:51, as to why ATC cannot give turns - and specifically cannot give turns "tonight". I assume it's a real-life constraint, but I don't know what that would be. Edit: presumably workload related, but again, missing the specifics.

Landing needs more high speed hot air balloon passes and slew mode. 6.9 out of 10. (Blame the French judges for favoring the Russians.) Also, if Turtle Beach GAVE you the flight controller, then you need to review the FTC rules for sponsored streams. (I don't want to see the feds slap you with an expensive fine that Turtle Beach probably won't help you out with.)

@@kuber5987 The rules that US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) keeps on disclosure for advertising. He stated briefly that the HOTAS controller he was using was a gift from Turtle Beach. He spent quite a bit of that video not only describing, but praising both Turtle Beach and the controller itself. It's one thing if he went out somewhere and bought it, but if they gave him that controller in exchange for airtime, that's an advertizement for their product. And the FTC rules are very clear on the subject that it cannot and must not look like just another one of his videos. There should be tags, posts in titles, or "anything that cannot be avoided and/or hidden." Microsoft hired a pair of influencers (like five to ten years ago) to review one of their games, and the influences failed to disclosed that the "Let's Play" video was a paid sponsorship by Microsoft. The FTC came down hard on both the influencers and Microsoft, fining all three. The rules are there to protect you and I from being manipulated through people we look up to and respect. I like AFP95. I enjoy watching his videos. That's why I mentioned it. I don't want to see him get into trouble. Better he fixes his video before the FTC catches him. All it takes is one person with a grudge, and this could sideline him. Here's directly from the FTC: www.ftc.gov/business-guidance/resources/disclosures-101-social-media-influencers

@@kuber5987 Nope. The tag doesn't work, since you can bypass it by starting a little bit into the video. If Turtle Beach wanted, they could have a link on their site where they start the video past the mark that the tag appears. (And I didn't see the tag, despite having watched the whole video.) The rules state it must be present and unavoidable.

New to flight sims and never been near a cockpit IRL (except for before 9/11 when the pilots used to invite us kids up to the cockpit - that was pretty cool) and yeah man, this feels true! There's some training activities though, and there are also lots of tutorials around. You start to get the hang of the various concepts after a while. Also Microsoft flight sim has a "Co pilot" option that can handle various aspects of the aircraft for you, so you don't have to master everything at once and you can get into the big jets before too long. But maybe stick to single player for a while first (I'm not ready to ruin everyone else's days on multiplayer servers JUST yet!) It's great if you love to learn like I do though. I never knew that flight sims were so accessible until lately. For my whole life, every time I fly, I've sat there looking at planes and wondering what all the parts and buttons do and what goes into flying them. Came across it after I was in Adelaide for 2 weeks, where my dad's house has a great view of the airport and it's nice to sit out on the verandah and watch the planes land and take off, which got me wondering again how it all works. I'm starting to think like an older person going "wow the things we have these days - how lucky are we!" There are some incredible mods that make it even better too. Really realistic

that was most probably a tail strike on departure (12, maybe 12.5 degrees before lift off). My advice: hold below 10 until airborne. The problem of course was with the flaps (retracted) but that’s another story. The habit of kind of pausing below 10 if it doesn’t feel like it’s coming up might not be “by the book” but it keeps pilots out of the office 😉
