Sweet! I tuned into a stream, and was worried the rest of this wouldn't be picked up because it was a bit harsher with the claims for one reason or another. The only loss I really bemoan is the line about Diaboromon being ratioed. Looking forward to the last (I assume) part whenever it comes into rotation.

Fun fact Ghost game was supposed to do urban myths and horror but also social warnings like Don't let strangers in cus the claim they know your love ones. Or things like Japan's cult and trends like street racing,curses and such. Digimon Season 1 had act least 2 cult episodes one with Izzy and the other with Joe and Sora with the Bakemon And the 2020 remake had a full-on Cult episode with digimon offer to a Demon Digimon by nailing them to crosses. Ghost games has just kids get invited to somewhere fun and it turns dangerous and they never learn or remember that it happen to them before

To go into the macro-plot of Ghost Game, like how Adventure was about summer camp, since the video didn't really do that so far, leaving the impression that there might not be: Ghost Games story was basically a story about refugees. GulusGammamon (named after the star Regulus btw, not "ghoul") was a refugee from an extraterrestrial world that was wiped out, and Quantummon, predicting a similar fate for their world, gradually evacuated Digimon from the Digital World to the real world, basically making them refugees having no choice but to seek for asylum there... except most of them didn't get any context or choice, meaning they had no idea about how the human world actually functions, which sets up for all the weekly micro-stories, which are generally all caused by the rift between Digimon and humans and their misunderstandings of each other. Mummymon in Episode 2 is a good example of this, it's a doctor that didn't know anything about humans, and one of the first things it saw in the human world was an exhibit on mummies and ancient egyptian myth in a museum, making it assume that humans could actually achieve immortality and be cured from their ailments through mummification, leading it to do just that. But once Hiro is able to explain that this isn't the case, clear up the misunderstanding, Mummymon decides to start over and go to a hospital to observe and learn how to treat humans, and throughout the story it reappears at various points to diagnose Digimon and humans afflicted by a Digimon. Another episode is about a Digimon that has fallen in love with a human boy, and is trying to turn that boy into a Digimon so they're "the same" and can be together, but ultimately after being stopped trying to become more human instead by self-mutilating its body to look human, perishing as an effect. The theme of love between humans and Digimon pops up a few times actually... anyways, at some point, pretty much also after he met the Digimon that were misunderstood trying to save the human in that burning house, Hiro realizes that the Digimon that are sent to the human world, like the basically infant Gammamon, just need someone to actually teach them about humans, and simultaneously someone to stand up for them and make their case in front of humans, since there's also actually quite a few episodes where Digimon become threats due to humans messing with the environment in spaces where Digimon have settled relatively peacefully or because the basic needs of the Digimon that needed to be settled, like residence, ended up causing troubles with humans the way they resolved them, so he decides to become a "bridge" for them, a mediator. For these Digimon being sent to seek asylum in the human world, he made himself responsible for helping them integrate with human society, bringing their concerns up with humans when they couldn't make a case for themself... and in cases where Digimon just weren't able or willing to integrate, sending them back to the Digital World (well, it was generally the mysterious BlackGatomon delivery-Digimon that sent them back to the Digital World, but it still seemed like it usually needed Hiros help, getting the Digimon that were to be "rejected" from the real world into a Digital Field from where they were sent back to the Digital World)... and Gammamon, with the way it was raised by Hiro, was simultaneously Hiros motivation to act as this bridge, as well as the "main proof" that humans and Digimon could coexist. tl;dr: Ghost Games macro-plot is about how to treat refugees, or (considering I'm pretty sure japan doesn't really have or had to deal with refugees much in recent years) in more broad terms communication and coexistence between different cultures.

The whole coexistence thing also works well, given the Digimon Movies featuring the Adventure and 02 casts were going on around this time and based on the first two they seem to be building in some way to the 02 Epilogue seen in the last episode, at least that's the popular theory right now, and in that Epilogue TK says that now Digimon are completely apart of everyday life and everyone in the world has there own Digimon partner. And we see in the movies how this is slowly starting to happen, what with how many people have Digimon and how they walk around freely, like Digidestine can take their Digimon out to a restaurant and no one bats an eye, or how the news reports on them saving the day seemingly regularly, and how after Augumon and Gabumon were sent back to the Digital World it inspire Tai to start studying to find ways for Humans and Digimon to co-exist presumably leading to him becoming an ambassador between the two worlds as seen in the 02 Epilogue.

Merry Christmas. I think the Jaden thing was less that he was evil, or even that his pre-incarnation was evil, but that in the final stretch he was manipulated into using a power that overtook his personality, because the mind-broken yandere wanted to force him into a state where he'd be able to relate to their own mindset. Though the Digimon games/Tamers did pull the same ending, that's why Cyberdraimon is berserk, he's a fusion of Ryo partner and the big-bad.

Dont take the fact that it was episodic as indication that there weren't many details or numerous thematic points placed in the show. In fact, it's BECAUSE those are there, why we felt so robbed by that ending. Because "episodic" as it was, there was more. MUCH more. I always think of it like the first few seasons of Codename Kids Next Door. They had a more episodic nature and introduced new villains with new plots all the time, but there were callbacks, escalation, darker themes and more serious moments. But they also had massive payoffs to all of them. If they JUST paid off their themes in a reasonable amount of time and with care, then this would definitely have been my favourite digimon series. But now, it flip-flops between this and Tamers for me. Tamers was wholly more consistent but I had more overall "enjoyment" watching Ghost Game.

17:08 i think they do, many digimons are said to come from worlds separated from the digital word. Gulus was seemingly build to be a complex character, but the ending seemed to just disgregard that in order to quickly have him as the final boss

The real issue with Digimon deep-lore is the Digimon setting is quasi-semi-self-contained. DW1 isn't DW2 isn't DW3 isn't Digimon S1, which IS Digimon S2, which IS... A fictional story to sell toys in Digimon S3... Except maybe it's at least in-universe "based on a true story"... Which isn't S4, which isn't S5, which isn't S6, but S6 might be S3, or might be the fake story based on the true story in S3? And then two of them which aren't each-other, BOTH are canon to cyber-sleuth-saga, despite not being canon to each-other. If I say "Machinedramon is a bad dude", I'm usually right. But not always. And notably as a Mega, there isn't exactly swarms, species of Machinedramon. Which is both what makes Digimon great, and bad: Anything "canon" in Digimon is "filler arc continuity" level concrete in, say, Bleach. It might've happened, might've not, might have concequences, might not, the chances are higher in close proximity, but could arise 40 episodes later suddenly, but only in a self-contained bubble. This allows Digimon to be way more experimental than, say, Pokemon (could you imagine a mass murderer mystery story with on-screen death in Pokemon?), but with experimentation also comes occasional failure.

Hello I am a geek and to explain what an Endbringer is. They are Powerful Kaijus from Worm, they are so powerful that both Heroes and Villains have to stop one from heading to their respective targets...Which always ends in a mass casualty. That and they are hard to kill as in a nuke wouldn't kill them. For anyone curious as to what their powers are...One could control minds, Extreme Hydrokinesis, and the usual Nuclear radiation, and one even has the ability to make bubbles that ages anything inside to ashes...

Frontier actually had a more cohesive plot than most seasons I think. They foreshadowed Lucemon in the first three episodes. Most seasons have a good handful of plotlines dropped or unexplained, but I can't think of any for Frontier. It's not the best season, but it's not the worst either. I'd place it at fourth overall, ironically the same as it's season
