Tbf... The lore of Digimon is that they are the result of data in our internet that accumulated and gained sentience. Which is why there's ones based off mythological figures including gods, angels, demons, etc. Which means the fact that they based one off of one of the creators makes sense.

Meaning that a few decades on Earth is enough time in the Digital World for ecological changes and world wide evolutions. Plus in Some universes like Tamers, Digimon are the result of humans making the Internet, while in other worlds they may merely be influenced in the current era by their closing proximity with Earth.

@@numberhunter62 Yeah, I'm pretty sure that some of the stories have it so that the Digital World has always existed as a separate dimension and recent technology has just allowed humanity to access that world (and certain other technology even acts as a portal into that world). Pretty sure that was the case with Digimon World: Next Order since the villain's plan was to break the barrier that separated the two dimensions so they destroyed each other.

The last main protagonist in Tamers, the guy everyone knew before he was introduced, was actually the protagonist of a whole series of games. The reason his partner was kind of berserk was that they were a fusion of his original partner and Digimon's final-final boss.

Like in the real world there are a lot of organisms made of atoms so the same should apply to a universe made of data. A thing to remember is that this video was from 4 years ago, so that number has ballooned since. Especially so recently, as Digimon has gone through a resurgence thanks to the new TCG and other media projects, though it’s definitely the TCG. As after Ghost Game ended, some notable projects of note were the relatively recently finished Seekers web novel, the recent Digimon Comic, and most recently cross franchise collabs, such as the recent ones with Monster Hunter and Godzilla, though the most work has been from the TCG, introducing players to past works with Easter eggs built into the cards’, and then there’s the Liberator Webcomic and Webnovel tied to it. With those last 2 being where most of the woodwork for new entries have come from, more new Digimon and even creating new lines for existing Digimon, case in point the new Guilmon and metal music inspired line for Impmon.

Fusion/Xros Wars was when they tried to copy Gurren Lagann and Pokemon. Where it's google-head would go around recruiting (capturing) digimon so that his main digimon, Shoutmon, would get stronger by using the others as super-robot mech armor. It's very meh. Hack's Memory is the Lion King 1 1/2 to Cyber Sleuth. A side-story about a NPC's life while the main hero's adventure was happening. Ghost Game is just "How do we scar kids this time?" the anime. Very good.

What was it with "kids" shows of that era and having 11th hour super dark swerves. Medabots: "why does he hate our robot BFFS" (who have the souls of dead Atlantean soldiers), "oh didn't you know, that the ancient weapons disguised as children toys, so the military wouldn't notice them, when berserk and killed thousands a few years back?" And are still available at all major retailers and 24-hour convenience stores. Monster Rancher: The Deus-Ex will bring back the dead, make the brainwashed baddies good and stop the Big-bad. Nope (and you'll have to kill your possessed family members); 99% of the rebelling former slaves aren't brainwashed, just abused and angry ... and the Deus-Ex is an ancient bio-nuke. Also, this might be post-post-apocalyptic Earth. Digimon-X: MCU Thanos had the right idea, but half is thinking way too small. Spider-Rider: The evil insect/demon race are fighting for their survival, because, unbeknown to them, their despotic leader ate their sun, blamed it on the humans and they've starving to death. I'm thinking there's a lot more in that trend.

Cybersleuth is a really good game, good story with awesome characters. Hacker's Memory is technically DLC but with a side story that's nearly as big as the base game. The complete edition has both games and all the extra DLC. Even the NX Digimon, which he mentioned.

Since I haven't seen anyone else mention it: the Cthulhu like monster that was shown in the anime is an actual digimon and not the elder god from H.P. Lovecraft. The digimon is Dagomon (Dragomon in the dub) who is based on the elder god Dagon. That being said, the elder gods might still possibly exist in the digimon world as the same episode that Deepdive mentioned also features a character going to a place called the Dark Ocean which may or may not be Innsmouth from the H.P. Lovecraft book Shadows Over Innsmouth. It also features unknown entities that were turned into digimon temporarily. I don't know if Deepdive included them as full digimon as they are unique, but also aren't necessarily digimon. Then again, he might have as he included other entities that aren't Digimon like the D-Reaper, Homeostasis and Yggdrasil.

Revenge of Diaboromon was actually dubbed, long after 02 ended thought. Tldr, Disney got the rights to Digimon a d when Frontier ended to kinda meh fanfare they took some of the toei Digimon"Movies" (All Toei Films back then were basically glorified short film double features at festivals they used to helm, look at the runtimes of the old DBZ movies) and dubbed them with some returning cast! P much all of 02 and Adventure's cast returned for it. All in all, was a good sequel, nothing that reinvented the wheel, but still good and Paladin Mode was honestly hype in-universe.

With Ghost Game, The Vital Bracelet and subsequent V pets, Seekers, 02 The Beginning, whatever's going on in New Century, and Liberator, we've had quite a lot more Digimon added since then. Funny they mention Atamadekachi *the big headed Dinosaur shown with the obscure fan submitted digimon* as one that faded into obscurity considering that not long after, that Digimon would get a resurgance, getting full colored art and an episode of the anime and even being put into the card game. Pretty sure there was also an Earthdramon in there, whom may have been repurposed into Landramon, one of the more recently introduced Digimon with a whole new line integrated with one of those Pendulum Z digimon shown at the end and it digivolves into a new absolute unit called Pyramidmon

Honestly, not sure if you'd consider it but as a lover of the Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory games, I think it would be Really cool to see you do a playthrough of those games. Ironically, regardless of how us Digimon-fans always meme around about how many (sometimes useless) Digimon there are... depending on how you count, Pokemon actually has pretty similar numbers! I mean, the current count of the Pokedex goes up to 1028, iirc, BUT that doesn't include regional forms, Mega-Evolutions and other mode-changes as they are in this video. AND if we count recolors for different Digimon-designs, even if just partially, then every Pokemon in the games has a shiny-form, basically doubling the count if we were to count them fully, but if using the same system as in this video would still give basically a flat 10% additionally to the final number... and that doesn't even go into more obscure forms and creatures from the anime, manga and even some from the games that aren't featured on basically any list that'd probably bring the total of Pokemon (not counting shiny Pokemon) closer to around 1300. Of course, this is using current numbers for Pokemon, so it'd be a bit unfair not to mention that Digimon also introduced roughly between 20 to 40 new Digimon each year since, but that'd still only add at most 200 Digimon to the final count in this video, so... the two are technically way more neck-and-neck with their number of creatures than one might expect...

My pet peeve with cyber sleuth 2 is like a side story that talks about some behind the scenes stories to explain how some of the twists happened but the "quality of life" is kind of annoying and can basically be ignored but still cool with a bit more digimon to make (not much more tho)

so to explain the anime post Tamers: Frontier: a bunch of kids are isekaied to the digital world and travel using train digimon. the gimmick though instead of having partner digimon to fight for them, they use 'spirits' to transform into digimon and fight directly. People HATED it cause it was so different (and also it was too episodic for its own good and they jsut kept fighting the same bad guys over and over again for most of the show) Data Squad/Savers: a young delinquent (hence why he punches the digimon) is recruited to join a Men In Black style organisation that secretely tries to deal with digimon and hide their presence from the public. Notably the first digimon anime to have a full on human villain who was not being manipualted by a digimon. Also the face punching was also the catalyst for the protag's agumon digivolving for some reason. Xross Wars/Fusion: armies of different factions war over dominion of the digital world, mostly against an evil army lead by Bagramon.

The only way someone would believe the dub version of the Digimon movie is better would be that it's so horrendously bad that it wraps all the way around back into being funny. Silence is the enemy of the early dubs and they do not know how to shut up.

Well some of us like dubs because we grew up with us. I have a disability where my reaction time is godawful and I can't read as fast as some subtitles are. Also we wouldn't have as many English fans if it wasn't dubbed.

At the very least, Our War Game certainly is. My brother and I liked it enough that we tracked down, and purchased, the raw VHS of the movie back when that format was still a thing. I still own it. If I had a VHS player I trusted enough to not eat the dang thing, I'd still be watching it. Also I *may* have searched on KZbin about a decade back for fansubs of all three movies, found them, and watched them back to back. I have no idea if those videos still even exist because Toei Animation is brutal. It was worth it, though. I am not nearly fluent enough in Japanese to watch the raw original. Best I can do is go "Oh, I recognize that word! Oh, and I think I recognize enough of that sentence to figure out the context of the words I don't know! I am getting the gist of what is happening in this movie!" ...The way Diaboromon freaking giggles like a child the entire time it's on screen...is far more terrifying than giving it actual dialogue. Also the soundtrack is better. U.S. version, like all anime movies of that era, had a soundtrack that was basically "these are the pop songs being marketed to the young people at the moment!"

:) Digimon has been so many things and had so many forms. A real shame that the Adventure remake was apparently both an Up&Down-grade. I'm still hoping we one day get more of PM's abridges, but until then, would you be interested in some insane World1 challenges. Like beating the entire story with Numemon, without glitches.

Digimon cyber Sleuth is actually one the the better games. to the point the player base has tried to keep the PvP scene alive for over 8 years. but even they are crying for a new digimon game that isn't Tamagachi (Next Order) or a Visual Novel (Survive)

Some specific moments you could argue are better taste-wise because the movie was going more for a mystery-fantasy feel with its music and theming while the American dub made it about comedy and action, but still, I can't fathom someone honestly looking the three full japanese films and the cut up American dub movie...and thinking the latter is better.
