The sad truth is... While most half of them had their time to shine and keep that popularity, even in later enteries, most of the other half were just used once for one thing, then quickly fell into obsecurity once they served their purpose. lol

The more popular ones do tend to get the lime-light, but it does seem like corners of the franchise are making a concerted effort to ease in some more obscure ones. The Survive roster is looking pretty varied from the usual.

digimon is the only fandom that had me just staring at the screen feeling i need to fu@king scream from trying to understand the logic ( the medabots crossover that had data from the game leak in to the digital world and it formed in to two bots from it that were tecnily digimon .... this is aparenly canon

The answer to this question is all of them. There is no quantifiable value, for there are many variables that could be considered in what qualifies and what doesn’t. Quite frankly, if you are as liberal with what you could consider a Digimon, then it’s practically infinite if not actually so. I mean, the imaginary Digimon alone make that true, but if you take the step of including monster rancher based on physical DVDs? Well that could reach every video game character, then every character in animation, then every person in a live action show, then every actor in a play, and subsequently everyone in history could qualify if the parameters of what is a Digimon aren’t restricted, and for that reason, it’s ultimately pointless to find out what the absolute number is. In the end, it isn’t about how many different Digimon there are, it’s the stories that can be told using them. And what amazing stories have been told.
