Only a Helluva Boss episode could start out with an amazingly fun musical number, give us a bunch of whacky bullshit Zim-like shenanigans, and then punch us directly in the gut emotionally by the end. Blitzø and Stolas's argument broke my heart. I broke down crying when Stolas said "I think so highly of you... I didn't realize you thought so low of me." F*ck who ever wrote this line bruh. I'm still crying.

The voice acting for Stolas’s last line made it even more heartbreaking, you can hear it in his voice how much he’s hurt by what blitz said, and how he probably expected that reaction from Blitz. He probably prepared himself for the eventuality of him leaving if he’s not tied by their arrangement anymore, but with the pure hurt in his voice, i dont think he was expecting Blitz to get angry at him to the point he would say all those things to Stolas.

When Blitz teases Moxxie for being prudish and that adults are just horny, that scene hits differently on the second watch. M&M have a functional relationship that involves listening and supporting each other, while establishing boundaries and not making everything about intimacy.

Moxxie cares for Millie, I mean he stayed trying to get the 'Thing' for her after she said she wanted it. Pretty sure Moxxie would be planning out stuff for her (he also got into the roller coaster even though he clearly doesn't want to). It's just weird she didn't talk about it, considering that's one of her fond memories growing up and they are married. She also never talked about her ex, Moxxie was confused about it but in the other hand neither did Moxxie (I still lean into my analysis that they rushed their relationship and that's why they time to time show, how little understanding they have on each others boundaries and cross it without realizing it). Millie is more of a listener then a talker like Moxxie, unless she gets impulsive over something. It's why I came to this conclusion and so far everything I thought about Moxxie became true in the end (Especially the never talking about his past to Millie part and that Moxxie was friends with Blitz first because he feels much more comfortable confronting Blitz ect).

"What's the full moon mean for him?" The full moon is when Blitz and Stolas.... ya know. "Who's Bel?" It's actually confirmed that's meant to be Bee's signature (as in Beelzebub) with an extra tall second "e". Makes sense for the prince of sin who most closely resembles hellhounds to be in charge of the hellhound adoption system. The bottle Stolas was trying to shake stuff out of was the happy pill bottle seen in previous episodes. "Have we met Asmodeus?" Dude. Ozzies. Fizz's boyfriend. A major character in at least 3 episodes I can think of off the top of my head. YES we've met him! We *saw* the scene where Stolas asked for his help with Blitz. We *saw* the conversation he had with Fizz about letting Blitz have a crystal.

Alright, a few initial thoughts about the episode, and by 'a few' I mean *_WOW:_* - I managed to avoid spoiling myself on the opening number, so this was my first time seeing just how wildly nervous both Blitzø and Stolas were about the coming night. We've known for a while that Blitzø's go-to tension-breaker is to use crass humor and innuendo to sidestep uncomfortable topics, but this is the first time he's explicitly _acknowledged_ that he uses them as a distraction _on himself:_ he doesn't want to deal with how complicated things have become, and would rather "focus on the sexy stuff instead!" Meanwhile, poor Stolas is trying to drown out "the voice that says [he's] not enough" as he steels himself for what he fears will be a disaster, grappling with overwhelming depression and anxiety while he's out of his prescription medication to take the edge off of both (which ain't a fun experience, trust me). - From the start, the aspect of both Stolas's and Blitzø's personalities that's messed up their relationship is that _they're both godawful at communicating._ Blitzø's word choice and spelling suggest he's illiterate or self-taught, while Stolas is incredibly verbose when he writes, so it's easy to believe there's a lot that's lost in their text chats -- and of course, _neither_ of them is comfortable talking openly about their feelings or asking others for help, as evidenced by the final scene of this episode being the first genuine heart-to-heart they've had in 25 years... and if _either of them_ had been able to be more honest with the other _sooner,_ things might not have blown up the way they did. Of _course_ Blitzø wouldn't immediately think Stolas was being _genuine_ about his feelings -- he's never been _before,_ very few people _are,_ and most of their prior interactions _were_ innately sexual. (Basically, they _both_ screwed up, and they're _both_ gonna be hurting for a while because of it -- but Blitzø was never going to introspect about how he feels about Stolas _without_ something like this happening, so this pain is _necessary_ for his character development, unpleasant as it is to watch.) - It's been shown in previous episodes, and again at the start of this one, that every photo in Blitzø's apartment has his face blotted out, visually symbolizing his self-loathing and his belief that everyone else would be better off without him in their lives -- and now we see Stolas _doing the same thing._ Every portrait in the hallway leading to his room is covered, in much the same way that one covers the portrait of someone who's just passed away, symbolizing the 'death' of his marriage and of a significant part of his life up to that point; the _only_ person whose face _isn't_ covered is _Octavia,_ the only other good thing to happen to Stolas besides Blitzø -- much like how Blitzø left Loona visible in the photo we saw at the start, Stolas sees his daughter as the one thing he did _right._ (And from the dialogue in the trailer, y'all *_know_* that _that_ shoe's gonna drop. We're not done crying with Stolas by a _long_ shot.) - It's good to see that Blitzø and Fizz are back on good terms and rekindling their old friendship, because Fizz might be the perfect person to help Blitzø figure out how he feels about Stolas. Fizz and Asmodeus's relationship is built on the kind of strong communication and mutual understanding that Blitzø and Stolas _desperately_ need to work on, and we saw a couple episodes back that Fizz can clearly see aspects of their dynamic that Blitzø is oblivious to -- if Blitzø can ask him for advice, I'm sure Fizz can be a _huge_ help to him. - Wasn't expecting the D.H.O.R.K.S. crew or Cletus, Keenie and Collin to show up this soon into the second half of the season, having had 'Mastermind' as the likely focus on their partnership -- but I won't complain about a longer team-up between the two jokiest groups of antagonists so far. (Who knows, maybe we'll see Collin actually split from the others -- he's the only one who doesn't seem to be on board with this selfish vendetta, and he was the only one who didn't consider the I.M.P. crew lesser, only being offended that they were being cruel and interfering with C.H.E.R.U.B.'s job.) - The silence over the credits? *_BRILLIANT._*

Yeah, I was taking notes while I watched the original video, and just went ahead and copied over the comment I made over there rather than re-transcribe everything from scratch -- that's why I talked at length about some of the same things that Airier noticed in his own reaction, like the parallels between Blitzø's self-deletion from the photos on his walls and Stolas covering every portrait except Octavia's. (Admittedly, I had a feeling he'd catch that -- he pays a lot of attention to the details on the walls, especially when it involves Blitzø and Stolas.)

Thanks for bringing up the text messages. I also wonder how much of that Blitzø could actually follow. Folks keep trying to use that as evidence that Blitzø should have known that Stolas was trying to pivot to a real relationship. But that relies on the assumption that he could fully read them and read between the lines to see what Stolas meant. I find this unlikely

He's dwelling on the divorce in the sense that after all this time it still hasn't been finalized and as such has acted as a barrier keeping him from pursuing Blitz properly.

It's also bound to be a major source of stress and anxiety for him, which eats up a lot of mental and emotional bandwidth to deal with every day -- that's probably part of why he managed to burn through his entire prescription bottle so quickly, if he's been starting every morning popping two or three caplets just to make it through the day.

I think the two main mistakes in this were Stolas immediately trying to take the book away before offering a replacement (instantly putting Blitz on edge and making him feel attacked) and Blitz following him through the room yelling at him and insulting him exactly the way Stella does. They both set each other off in a really major way

@@DoctorOaks yeah, I can agree that, Stolas's choice of phrasing perhaps wasn't the best. "No, I have my answer." Line was... I felt there could have been some backing up after Blitz realised Stolas was being serious and had more conversation. But, we also know that Stolas was already having those thoughts about Blitz just using him even from the "Owl in a cage" song and the whole reason for getting the crystal. Blitz backpedaled and pushed away thinking it was some kind of roleplay, and then realized it was genuine, but by that point, Stolas closed himself off for communication, and Blitz defaulted to his defense mechanism of anger.

Yup. Because as much as Blitzø couldn't understand Stolas being serious at first, Stolas couldn't think of any other outcome once even a bit of his fear looked like it was proven true. Both guys went into this with expectations of worst possible outcomes. I'm assuming it'll get fixed, but I have no idea how they'll get to it.

Honestly. For all that "giving him a choice" he didnt actually gave Blitz any time to chose. He made the decision Blitz didnt love him based on Blitz' confused reaction and did not give him any time to explain himself

A lot of ppl give Blitzø a hard time here. He absolutely despises himself thinking he is literal poison for everyone around him. The idea that some like "demon prince" Stolas could have actual feelings for him could never cross his mind in his mental state. Stolas might not have done anything wrong here but he didn't do anything right either. He pulled the rug out from under Blitzø by starting the conversation with permanently taking the one thing from him that holds his constantly crumbling world together. Followed by dropping mother of all revelations on him that he has feelings for him and then when Blitzø trys to deflect within seconds decides for himself how Blitzø feels about him without giving him any time to reflect on what happened. No sh*t Blitzø's first reaction is anger and feels like his feelings are played with. Stolas in the back of his mind had already decided how this was going to go and at the first sight of it turning ugly tried to close himself off running away and pushing Blitzø away to protect himself from the "bad ending" he constantly feared. God i hope Octavia and Loona team up by the end of this season to set their Dads straight.

Nailed it in one. Neither Blitzø nor Stolas handle emotionally-fraught confrontation _well,_ but their instinctive responses to it are polar opposites: Blitzø goes into Fight mode, trying to push _through_ or _past_ whatever's hurting him, while Stolas jumps to Flight and tries to immediately disengage from the confrontation -- neither of which is productive when it comes to actually _resolving_ the heart of the issue, and can in fact make things _worse._ The _real_ tragedy is, each of them could benefit from taking pointers from the _other's_ approach. Stolas has been hurt many times before because he's willing to endure pain and trauma to avoid confrontation, and needs to learn how to stand up for himself and advocate for his own needs and desires; and Blitzø, bullheaded and stubborn as he is, needs to learn that not _every_ problem can be solved with a brute-force approach, and recognize when de-escalation and disengagement are the best way forward.

Yeah, just crapping on Blitz makes no sense, and I think it might just be because he defaulted to anger, kinda relatable, but also we can see that coming, IT'S BLITZ! The defense of Stolas just for that reason is weird like...he literally dismissed Blitz, it's not just him saying it out of anger, it's the truth. I feel a little bad for Stolas, but he also said something hypocritical, "making everything about s3x" even though he's been doing that since Season 1 when it was super uncalled for, episode 1 and episode 2 are a few of the perfect examples. Dismissing anyone's feelings and not giving them time to process information and let them talk about it is one of the crappiest moves ever, just from my own experience of that happening to me over and over again, that makes problems worse. Not to say Stolas was the only one wrong here, Blitz defaulting to "Oh, you're messing with me" is understandable, but it was also the wrong move too. I'm pretty sure all the bad stuff he said to Stolas was really him hating himself while also thinking all his worst thoughts were coming true, and he started to sabotage what was left between them. I don't think he actually hates Stolas. Honestly, Blitz's part hurt me the most because.....I've been there so many times (instead I don't self sabotage, I just trust the wrong people and they stab me in the back by either leaving without saying a word or...the other one which is giving me more trauma I didn't ask for). I love Blitz and Stolas, they are the most flawed and unique characters (waiting for the rest of the Goetia to show up so I can take that back lol, joking) and I hate that I relate to Blitz (and Fizz) so personally- I'm ready and not ready for the next episode. Emotional damage: The team is giving us straight pain with a glass of more pain.

Just something I want to point out - not nearly everything is Blitz's fault. Sure, he had a bad reaction and originaly dismissed Stolas entirely, but none of what he says is factualy wrong, even if Stolas doesen't see it that way. Also there is a major difference in expectations, with Stolas having months to mentaly prepare while he did spring it up on Blitz kinda out of nowhere. I could probably write several paragraphs about it, but the main point is: Stolas put Blitz on a spot (first he took his grimoir back, only several moments after saying that he was giving him the crystal and that he has feelings for him, on the day meant specificly for them getting it on) and not only did he make him make sense of it in the matter of seconds, he also literaly dissmeses him at the end and doesen't let him talk except his emotional outburst of unprocessed feelings.... Respectful counterpoint: Stolas did an excellent job of explaining why he was breaking their deal, giving Blitz the crystal, and what that means for Blitz and for the pair of them. He was very clear that any continued contact is now Blitz's choice, but he *wants* them to be together because he cares deeply for Blitz. And to be fair to Blitz, we *saw* him *get the message*. Everyone saying he didn't understand.... we saw on his face. Stolas' words connected. But Blitz was uncomfortable with it because trauma, and made the unfortunate decision to try and lighten the mood and deflect with sex. Stolas was perfectly justified in cutting him off when he did; Blitz was not taking the convo in a productive direction. The unfortunate part is that Stolas has trauma around being mocked, and what Blitz was doing was easily misconstrued as mocking Stolas' feelings. Especially in context with their previous text messages and the continued lack of discussion about what happened at Ozzie's. The bad news for Blitz was that this was Stolas' Last Stand... he's been marinating in those text messages, Blitz never came to see him in the hospital, and Blitz starts with sec, not even "hey how are you doing? Are you recovering okay?" So no, Stolas didn't give him an additional chance to explain.... he'd had his worst fears confirmed already and had his feelings 'mocked. I'm actually proud of Stolas for speaking his heart and being honest and setting boundaries. I knew coming into this that Blitz hadn't done enough work yet for this to be successful.

Off the cuff, I'm gonna guess that Blitzø returns to try talking about what happened that night, but going by his expressions and body language, Stolas doesn't look like he's willing to just sweep it under the rug -- Blitzø's words *_really_*_ hurt him,_ so it's going to take a truly heartfelt and sincere apology before things can even _start_ getting better. Correct Loona was never meant to speak in the following episodes in the first place. Exes and oohs Western energy Unhappy campers All of season 2's dialogue including Erica's was completed in 2020-2021. Erica's fiance Billy Kametz sadly passed away in June 2022 a year after all the dialogue for season 2 was recorded. The fact that people use his passing as the reason for Loona's lack of dialogue during the first half of season 2 is just disrespectful in my opinion especially when all the dialogue for season 2 was finished a year before Billy Kametz sadly passed away. While Loona did have a decent amount of screen time in Western energy. Vivziepop explained that she thought it would be cute to see more of a puppy side of Loona in that episode. Though, when it was released 2 years later, she regrets not giving Loona more dialogue for the first half of season 2. I went to the momocon helluva boss panel a week or so ago, and they said we'll be getting a lot more Loona this season and beyond. I've been to a few panels earlier this year Erica Lindbeck has said that she has recorded a lot recently obviously for season 3.

Someone pointed this out on twitter. But notice when Blitzø was screaming at Stolas, Stolas was flinching and hugging himself tighter every time. They pointed out that its likely Stolas was having flashbacks to when Stella would scream at him. Blitzø is literally triggering Stolas's PTSD from his abuse from her, and thats why Stolas kept trying to get away from him.

Honestly, there were two things that almost guaranteed it would end this way. Loona's comment of course, someone already pointed that out. But also something that Blitzø mentions himself towards the end. This whole thing was sprung on him suddenly. Stolas had time to think of what to say, to prepare himself for every possible outcome. Stolas, in the end, was in control of that situation. Blitzø on the other hand did not have time to process both the situation and his feelings. I do believe the roleplay thing was him scrambling to regain control. Does not help that the moment everything is raw out in the open, the conversation is ended abruptly. Stolas being so in the mindset of everything going wrong and confirming all his fears, coupled with Blitzø's heap load of trauma and insecurities, leads up to that one last moment between them. Stolas was hurt. He wanted an out of the conversation. Blitzø got a reality check on the situation. He wanted to genuinely apologize. I do believe that if the conversation continued just a little bit, we would have left on a somewhat better note.

-00:00 You know...at the end of the episode it didn't feel like the _absolute_ worst it could've gone. Not unless Stolas ignores the future attempts to talk or apologize/ blocks him. Though there are...for multiple reasons I think they make it clear that the conversation...didn't have to end there. There were two spots that felt key (and people mention the loss of antidepressants on the same day) for me. Instead of taking his initial denial as a final answer, in an alternate universe that's the moment to say "I'm...not roleplaying. I'm serious." And then tell him to think about it (like I thought he would after Look My Way). And then if he hadn't immediately thrown him out after that shattering thought ("realization"), the conversation probably would've continued for a good while longer, since once he saw his reaction Blitz's confused-anger/upset dissipated and he immediately started to apologize - which I still wish he got out before being [thrown out? dis..dismissed?] just so Stolas could process it later. ...Yeah. Those are the two moments that I fixate on because there could've been positive progression from either point. ...I haven't even watched your reaction yet ; I save yours for after others - like you and Zamber (for her emotions and your analysis/emotions).

I more or less agree with your assessment. The only thing I would add on is that both guys are shown, at the beginning and then later at the end of the video, with pictures containing them blocked off and only showing who they're with (only showing Luna for blitzø and Octavia for Stolas). It's a nice subtle reminder that both of them really don't like themselves. So they're both coming at this from a pretty unhealthy angle. Even with the meds, they were both going at this pretty badly because they assume the other wouldn't like them because they don't like themselves.

This was catharsis at its finest after everything their relationship has been throughout the show. Finally Stolas is speaking his mind and being true to himself. And now, they're in a much better position to either mend their relationship in the future or not, but either way they (or at least Stolas) will be far healthier.

Blitz is not a man of words but action, the only reason him and Fizz rekindled is by the stress of battle allowing him to open and vent. I personally dont think stolas survives this season, but during the rescue is when they make up i almost guarantee. either they get to be happy, or stolas dies knowing blitz actually did care.

While what he said to Stolas was uncalled-for, Blitzo did have a very good reason to not believe Stolas was serious about his confession and to also be upset with him just springing it on him, as their entire arrangement started off as borderline sexual extortion with Stolas both talking down to him and treating and referring to him as his plaything. Remember that the full moon deal was made in a situation where Blitzo's life was in danger and he couldn't really properly consent because he lacked the option to reject. The fact Stolas decided on his own with no forewarning to Blitzo at all, to treat it almost as a secret test for Blitzo's feelings and then to cut off the relationship without having an actual conversation with Blitzo when he asks for a minute to think shows that Stolas still wasn't properly understanding Blitzo either and Blitzo has a bit of a point in perceiving it as Stolas had been toying with him up to then even if that wasn't what Stolas was trying to do.

A divorce is a stressful thing, even if you want it. And in this case, Stella is making it really hard for Stolas. It’s very stressful! Divorces aren’t easy even if you’re over the person. He doesn’t want to dwell on the chaos of it all. So many people have been making that comment about that line in the song and all I can think is damn all these people have clearly never been through divorce or even seen a divorce. I mean good for them! Not having any parents divorced or maybe they had a good divorce. But I’ve seen my Dad go through 3 awful, long, drawn-out, angry divorces. And I almost got divorced once and even though I was the one that wanted to leave, it was horrible and heart breaking and non stop drama. Eventually we worked out our problems, but the short amount of time we were fighting and separated was pure hell and stress.

The worst part about the end is it’s in character for both Stolas and Blitz. Stolas wanted a genuine answer from Blitz and should have given him more of a heads up that he wanted to talk before anything else but was probably afraid that Blitz wouldn’t give him a genuine answer because Blitz might be saying whatever because he might want to keep the book and from Stolas’s perspective keeping Blitz locked in the deal. On the other hand Blitz’s knee jerk reaction is to make it about sex/a joke that’s of course not mentioning his abandonment/attachment issues for that matter Loona’s comment from earlier that didn’t help

Stolas kinda jumped the gun, but Blitz was in a completely different race... i don't think Blitz's anger is 100% misplayed... Stolas let this bother him. Stolas let blitz believe otherwise Stolas never said anything directly. only hinted and nudged at it. which even if Blitz did notice, wouldn't appear as genuine. but playful and Coy now yes, Blitz also did these thing to a lesser extent. but there is one thing Blitz never did Drop the house of cards on him. Blitz never Trama or emotionally dumped on Stolas. for Stolas to be doing all these emotional hints in the background and only tell him at the finish line he failed. it does feel like he was set up for failure and set up to be the "problem" and i'll give Blitz Credit, he never did actually reject Stolas, he was only ever confused. even after his outburst, he didn't walk away. he felt vulnerable, stepped on and tricked, and he didn't leave, he took what he seen as hostility as challenged it. it was Stolas's turn to react. and he did. but when it was Blitz's turn again. Stolas didn't let him. as much as we want to give blitz crap for not seeing the writing on the wall. Stolas has had misplaced patience, and the one time he actually needed to be patient. he wasn't

I gotta say I was shocked at how this ended, I expected Blitz to freak and reject Stolas but in the end he basically said _NO_ to the end of the relationship but Stolas misinterpreted, if he had simply given Blitz a chance to think instead of assuming it was over Blitz might have actually thought it through but instead he thought Stolas was making an excuse to end it and didn't want that but got angry and insulted Stolas which ended it.

Well, he’s often referred too as Oz/Ozzie in the show, and since a long time may have passed since he last watched the show, because the episodes release with interval of multiple months, i understand he may have forgotten. I'll give em credit; at least Blitzo didn't get mad right away. He offered to do better instead. While the episode coulda had more Stolitz drama, it's still interesting to see the end result. Here's how I see this: They both got the wrong idea, but they have their reasons. People say it ended as badly as it did cause he subconsciously self-sabotages his love life thinking himself unworthy of real love. There's a bit more to it than that. Yes, Blitzo does tend to self sabotage, but it's not just on him this time, cause listen to what he says; he's shouting that Stolas is being too hasty with his feelings, and yeah, after all this time of sexual intimacy, I can see why Blitzo would be confused and think it was sexual... then again, I know by experience that people would be more forward when they wanna role play with someone... don't ask. XD The other thing that Blitzo shouts about is how the bluebloods *always* seem to play with the feelings of imps... Holy shit, did Blitzo date another bigwig?? But of course, while Stolas didn't deal with it properly either, he tried. He's going through a lot right now, and yet only emotionally melted down after Blitzo made his assumptions. He wants a straightforward relationship, and doesn't think that Blitzo could appreciate that. You know that bottle of stuff in the intro song? Those were antidepressants. Yeah, bad time to run out, and I understood why he magically yeeted Blitzo out so that he didn't have to see him cry it out. You know, I think Striker really left a mark on them both with his words; he told Blitzo that Stolas only saw him as a plaything, and Stolas that he was a rich parasite. Perhaps he drove even more of a wedge between them, even if unintentionally... Damn, both my boys deserve better, but they need to get better at this too..... 21:35 Also I was expecting a VPN sponsorship there! XD

The worst thing if you think about it Is technically Blitz says the first “I love you” between them but as a joke as a role play fantasy. Giving the message that this world where Blitz is moved by this gift and still chooses to be with stolas will only ever be that, a fantasy

Im crossin my fingers for the trial episode to double as a bit of a call out to both stolas and blitz. Blitz is obvious with him desperate to be close with others while Also keepin a wall up causes issues and disregards others emotions/safety in ways that makes him feel in control or burst into angry when things spiral, and how Hypocritical Stolas was about why Blitz felt and acted the way he does from his foreword flirtin even when Blitz said for him to stop, The Deal that was made By Him for them to be together while Blitz was on a mission gettin shot, and of course when he tried to save face at the Ozzie club when they were called out. Sometimes you need that slap of reality to finally see what you've been doin in order to improve and take steps to get better.

I feel like Stolas should’ve granted Blitzo more time to process everything. How do go from “work out some sort of exchange…favors for favors” (like Stolas said) to throwing every emotion and love confession Blitzo’s way? So I get why Blitzo was so upset. Then again Stolas did offer to talk to Blitzo on some occasions only to be ghosted….ugh these two are massive emotional rollercoasters, I get emotionally drained just seeing them interact with each other. 🥺😵‍💫

Don't remember if you reacted to the trailer for this second part of se2. But... there was this part of Octavia pretty much blaming Stolas for not loving her & only loving Blitz. I'm now pretty sure the context of her saying this will be that she's with her mom (and probably Andrealphus) who, let's recall, HATES Stolas and was hinted that she needs Via to get "something" from their divorce. Which.... sucks in all variations possible because it will be like using your kid as a weapon. Also - while the cherubs & DHORKS provided somewhat of a levity they're also another punch - because now the DHORKS will most likely get an exaggerated feedback and will (probably) know how to improve their attacking ideas which makes everything worse.
