I purchased one of these for travelling. I love it. My partner and I travel by motoribike where you are limited by how much baggage you can carry. Also for work if it’s a short trip I only want to take carry on so I can fit everything in the one bag. The size is perfect. It does pack much smaller than my resmed 10. The humidex connection is noisier than I would like but not prohibitive. I never touch the on/off button because the auto ON/OFF works reliably every time. Because it’s only used for travelling I’m not worried about the data downloads because it’s used maybe 15% of the time. My main gripe is the retention method of the head strap. It isn’t adjustable. When it gets loose you drop it in hot water which retentions it. But the retention isn’t that tight. I live in west Australia which is usually very dry so some level of humidification is important. With the GO if you are adding humidifiers you are about the same size as a normal cpap.

I use my Air Mini every night. It is my one and only APAP machine. I sleep both sides and back and don’t have any problems that you have. I use the same mask only the smaller size. I am sleeping better now than before I had the machine. My low setting is 8 and high is 20. Love it as I don’t have to keep filling a water tank everyday. I am disabled and 68 yrs old.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!! I've had this for a year. Gone on a few thrips with it. It keeps me up for hours because of the constant blowing!! Too much air pressure. I leave for another trip in a few days. So excited to try it now that you have shown me how to adjust the pressure. You are my current hero, my friend!!

I have had my AirMini for nearly a year now and love it. I travel over 40 weeks in the year and makes no sense to have 2 CPAPs. I have been able to get back to normal sleep. At first the nose pillows caused some irritation to the tip of my nose. I use to wake up 4 or 5 times in the middle of the night and have to go to the bathroom. With this I sleep through the night. And I use it at home as well. No complaints. My sleep scores were a bit higher, but now I have less than 5.0 events per night. Not sure why they don't want you to use this at home.

Precisely. It's pissed me off when I asked the they just said oh .. the small travel one doesn't have the moisture option. Well , I don't even use the dam moisture option so.... what the heck. ! Wasted money on the full size big one... and have to haul it around for travel because I am not going to be able to afford this smaller one. Exactly my point too .. like why do i even need to have 2!! I'm just watching these videos to see how it's working for everyone else. BLah. Every time I go through gate they need me to yank it out. SOOooo annoying. So I tried to slide without taking it out. noPE! Got stopped and made me take it out ! *SIGH*

I've have my R.A.S.10 for four years and it started making a loud noise w/ea breadth. After a cpl wks found out that the two rubber cups that the water chamber connects to were leaking. Now have to "tug" on them before inserting water chamber.

I just purchased the air mini after the ResMed recall. I’ll hold onto my Dream Station just in case Phillips honors their claim to fix the issue …. But in the meantime- except for the annoying headgear (the nasal pillows are like the ones I’m used to) I will use this one every night. I don’t like using the humidity on my other machine. No matter what setting- I feel like I’m breathing underwater. Taking my first trip with this in a week. It will be nice not to have to lug a clunky machine.

As someone who is just getting started with CPAP, I did not want a gigantic machine sitting next to my bed full of water and making me look like I am in a hospital. Call it denial, but I was looking to have a discrete solution. What I love about the air mini, is that it does not have a display screen! Why do I want a big cheesy display screen when the one item that is always within reach is my cell phone. The air mini requires absolutely no interaction with the base unit at all. Which means, it can basically be out of sight! Mine is tucked away in an open section of my bed frame with just the tube and mask coming up, which I just keep under my pillow. When I lay down at night, you simply put the mask on, start breathing, and it kicks on itself. When I wake up, I remove the mask, and it shuts down itself. It is litterally a tube and mask coming up from the top of my bed. As for the humidifier, come on! I hated these when I was a kid and my mom made me have one in my room when my throat was soar. Who really needs a humidifier? All they do is add to the moisture, which leads to mold, etc. So, if you are a little embarrased about being on a CPAP machine and don't want to advertise to the world that you have a sleep disorder by having your night stand riddled with big machines, tanks of water, cords, and all the other BS you have to have. Consider this machine. You can litterally stick it anywhere. It works great, its is quite, and really in the age of phone apps, a large color display on your unit is kind of stupid!

I have the Resmed AirMini and I really like it. The main reason I chose this machine over other travel CPAP machines is there is no need for water for the humidifier. It can be difficult to travel with distilled water and sometimes difficult to purchase water when you reach your destination. The HumidX provides the humidity I need to keep from drying out without the need for water. I understand wanting a better picture of your night than you can get with the AirMini, but I've been using CPAP so long, I no longer find a need to look at the detailed info. I found this video when looking for a way to change the pressure setting. Thank you for the info!

I got a bit icked out my the idea of recycling my breath for humidification. Is it weird or gross? Also I was advised distilled water isn't necessary, you just need to descale it when required. Alternatively you can use water that's been boiled a couple of times.

@Jacobra60 2 жыл бұрын
Did you have to get permission before your flight to use the AirMini in the air?
@jimprevo
@jimprevo 2 жыл бұрын
@@Jacobra60 Yes. They all appear to have different rules about approving “medical devices”. Personally, I think they are way too restrictive with regard to CPAP machines. They act as if they are life sustaining devices like an oxygen concentrator. Guys. If it fails…I’ll snore…big deal! There is no reason I should have to use a battery that has twice as many runtime hours as the flight. Also, my iPad charger draws the same amount of power as my AirMini power adapter and a typical laptop power adapter uses two to three times the power as the AirMini, yet the airlines won’t let us power our AirMinis off the aircraft power, while they have problem allowing the other power adapters. Those issues aside, I have had no problem getting approval, but I do need to call to get it. It is a bit of a pain, but not horrible. Also, mask mandates (or personal preferences) during COVID-19 conflict with the ability to use a CPAP machine. I chose to not use my machine when traveling recently, so I could wear the N95 mask for the entire trip and avoid the conflict between CPAP therapy and Covid protection.

I just started CPAP therapy two days ago and I like it so far. It has returned me back to the land of normal sleep and normalized blood pressure. The only bad thing is that my F20 mask does not accomodate a HumidX filter so humidification is not an option for me unless I change mask types.

You asked us to tell you why we like the Airmini. For me it boils down to EPR. I have had many CPAPs and APAPs over the last 20 years, including the Respironics Remstar M series, Resmed S9 and S10, Fisher Paykel, etc. The Respironics M series was the first machine that I was able to be compliant with and not rip it off an hour after going to bed. But in my experience the A-flex and C-flex functions are no where near as good as the EPR on the Resmed machines. I fell in love with that feature on the S9, and when it came time for a new machine I found the algorithm to be even nicer on the S10. I do a lot of travel for work and the S10 just is not convenient to carry for work. So two years ago I tried the HDM Z2 auto. I found it to be a lot like the Respironics M series. I hated the pressure relief feature but could sot of live with it, kind of. Then I tried the Airmini. Breathing while using the Airmini feels just like I am using my beloved S10. On the plus side, can throw the Airmini in my backpack with a clean shirt and underwear and be ready for an overnight trip without having to pack luggage or a CPAP bag. Does the Airmini have shortcomings? Yep, but I will deal with those to get the same feel and comfort that I already get from my S10.

I just bought one of these now it’s compatible with the F30 and F20 masks. I bought it with the connector kit for those masks. They even have a new HumidX F20 to go with those masks, but it’s not compatible with the F30 for some reason. I was fascinated by you showing the clinicians menu in the app. I must try that out. That isn’t in the manuals I got. Also it says that you can send data to your clinician, but I’m not seeing that yet. Time will tell. I hope so. Thanks for all your helpful videos.

I absolutely love my Airmini. The retailer tried to talk me out of it but I'm so glad l persisted. I was after a machine to sleep in my vehicle/plane/camping but it is so good l use it all the time. It runs off 240v mains (Australian), my vehicle 12v deep cell battery (mains and solar charged), I get 2 nights off my Airmini battery before it has to be recharged and l can solar charge it when off grid. So versatile. Also it doesn't need water. The humidifier in it works well. Hoorah! The machine is worth it just for this alone. The mask also stays in place better than with other masks and is the best I've used for comfort. I have no trouble sleeping on my back or side, as l just move the humidifier to a comfortable spot. I agree it is heavy and would be better without it but it's okay. It could also be quieter but again that's a small inconvenience for it's very light, compact size and no worries about water spillage. It is pricey but l didn't look at this. I wanted something that met my needs. Batteries etc come as an extra. I rave about how good this tiny machine is.

I love my resmed air mini. I have traveled all over with it, from Europe to backpacking to camping and boondocking. I dont think it smells bad with the humidix, though it is important to change it every 30 days. And I find the mask much more comfortable than my standard resmed 10. The down side to me is the battery that has to be purchased separately, and and the cost of said lithium battery ($200). I need the convenience of it as I am not always sleeping somewhere that is on the grid. You did make me laugh when you said you were a calm reasonable guy.........Have a good day.

I would expect that I would have the hose run to my bed but the unit would be bundled up somewhere inconvenient to push it because there are no bedside tables in my camper just overhead nets and such

I am surprised and yet puzzled that many here love the Air Mini. I bought it about 3 years ago and used it once or twice. The main issue is the loud noise while using it. I am using the Resmed Airfit N20 mask. Each time I breathe through the mask, I can hear a loud noise. Did I miss something or do something wrongly that caused this? I have found many other comments online that also gave the same feedback. Some pointers for me on how to improve would be great.

I use the P10 Airmini mask with HumidX Plus on my Air Sense 10 and magnetic adapter in dry Minnesota winter. No dry sinuses. Need to clean nasal piece only. I do clean the HumidX cartridge with soap every 2 or 3 days and helps with the smell and nasal issues. Quiet and provides nice white noise to sleep with. Bought Airmini and will try soon.

Great video. One thing: You were making fun of the fact you can start the machine from the app when there is a start button on the unit itself. It's actually a good feature. Frequently people will be using this on a boat or RV and the unit itself may be sitting on a shelf that is uncomfortable to reach if you're falling asleep. A lot of people check their phones before sleeping so not a bad option to just tap the phone and nod off instead of having to reach a table or shelf.

I really like my airmini. While I'm ticked too that the connection has the stupid change, I did spend a small amount to get the adapter that works fine. Also, not only is that the difference but I cannot use the same power cord from my Airsense 11 to the airmini because that is also different... Well, to be more accurate, I can use the Airsense 11 on my mini but not the reverse. So, this means I need a different DC adapter for 12 volt also. What I do love is that bulky piece inline you hate. I love the humidity and camp at high elevation... Above 8,000 often and appreciate that humidity. I also sleep with the hose over my head always with both machines vs across my neck like most do. It works great to keep the hose over my head. Speaking of that, I also like the phone app because one of the camping setups I need to keep the machine overhead and can't see it. Anyway, love your video but kindly disagree. Love my airmini

Having major buyer's remorse after shelling out $900 for this device. I'd heard complaints in reviews about "noise" - but thought it was more like consistent white noise, which I thought I could deal with. Nope - it comes from the area of the HumidX chamber. I took a free decibel app to my setup, and the AirMini hits close to 60 db with every single inhale. I understand giving up functionality for the small size, but this seems like a HUGE problem with a super easy fix, should ResMed care to redesign the venting.

I own this machine and bought it for traveling Europe which it worked fantastic. Pro's is it super small very easy to set up and it did fit my mask already so I had no issues there. Con's my main was the noise due to the humidex connection. I did get used to it but if that was not there it would be perfect for me. But as you stated if you want the data which I don't care about you should not buy this machine. if anyone knows how to get rid of the humidex connection let me know. Good review honest and straight forward.

I had the same problem with the Humidex connection being super noisy. It bothered me to the point where it was almost unusable. My solution was to wrap a small piece of nylon washcloth around the connection - it's thin enough for air to easily pass through and not interrupt airflow, but it diffused and dampened the sound tremendously. It adds a little weight, but nothing I couldn't handle. I wish I could download the data from this machine, but it's not a dealbreaker - I find traveling so much easier with this machine than what I had before.

Great vid. I agree that the data sharing SUCKS. This is MY data. I should have access to it. HOWEVER, the mini is really the only option for those of us who want to do deep back country back packing and bring CPAP without weighing you pack down. At 66 every pound counts! WIth the Medistrom Battery, head gear and tubing you are at 34 Oz which is about as low as you can go. I will have to give up some aspects of my DreamStation 2 data and quiet to allow for true cordless portability. I bought the ZephAir Hose adapter ($19 for a 20 cent piece of plastic made by slaves in China) which will allow me to connect my regular hose and head gear to the Mini BUT, and this is a big BUT, I will be using this in the mountains where the air is dry so humidification is not optional. To humidification, you have you use their hose and head gear set up to use the HumidX Plus to improve humidity. Without that, I think you would desiccate your airway at altitude.

I have the AirMini, and I use it for travel and camping. I really like how small it is. I hate that I can’t get the data into Oscar/sleepyhead, which means I can’t really see that all is working well. My main problem is the noise that the HumidX makes. I’m using ear plugs, but it is still too loud. Why didn’t I get the GO? Two main problems: it didn’t have a humidifier at the time, and it is really dry here, and it can only be charged on AC, not DC, so no charging on 12V! I think a big oversight for a travel CPAP. I’d like to try to explain ResMed’s decisions as I see them. I could be totally wrong.I think it all comes from the HumidX. I think that for it to function well, the air you breathe out has to go through the HumidX. It can’t exit like in the P10 or other masks right by the mask. That is why the distance from the mask to the HumidX is so short - small volume in which to collect CO2. So, you should have been able to use any mask without humidifier, but to use the HumidX you’d need a special mask. One that doesn’t expel air before the air gets back to the HumidX and one that only allows a small volume of air between the mask and the HumidX. But why not allow regular hoses to connect, and have the HumidX+special P10 with regular hose? Unclear...maybe they didn't want to allow the HumidX to be used on the GO?

Hey there I hope you see this and answer! I recently was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea(mostly hypopneas on my sleep study). I've started using the apap. Ive been using Sleepyhead to look at my data and get an idea of my ideal pressure. I like to use the ERP because I hate that feeling of not being able to breath out. I've heard you say that using ERP can cause problems(central apnea, heart problems, RERAs) but I've also heard you say that ERP can help prevent those same problems so I'm confused. If my ideal pressure is a 11 and my ERP is going down to an 8, how could that cause problems, if its just helping me expel carbon dioxide?

The Resmed Airmini machine itself is great and is quiet and of course is very small. But - the air noise coming thru the tube is horrendous. It's impossible for me to relax and fall asleep with that high volume noise from the tube. I've also experimented getting a universal connector which allows you to now use any CPAP mask and their bigger diameter tubing with the AirMini. But that loud tube air noise just won't go away. My pressure settings are very low at 4.6 so high air pressure can't be blamed. Unfortunately I'm now going to return my Airmini to get a refund and I'll stick to the good old Resmed 10 machine which is so quiet (machine and tube).

I was thinking of getting this machine because at the CPAP shop online I am pretty sure it says you can use it at home, too. I have the regular Air ResMed machine and I hate that you have no choice but to use that water part; no option to make it smaller for travel by just pulling that off and using it without the humidifier. Oh, and having to take a big gallon container of the distilled water with you on a trip or HOPE you can find distilled water in any stores now is really fun!!! I hate that clunky machine that makes me feel like a hospital patient or disabled or something. It is embarrassing. When will making smaller machines be the standard!?! I got the DreamStation Go before their recall last year, so I had to return that. I am still waiting for them to send me my new one. I fear they won't and then I fear I will have lost my money for it. I bought it myself with my HSA card because I already have the ResMed home station and figured insurance wouldn't cover it. I am super pissed! Have you (or anyone else watching this video) tried the Z1 or Z2 CPAP? Wondering what your thoughts are on that? Thanks!

I resisted getting any cpap for s while. Got resmed mini. Your vid helped w app pressure settings, thanks. I dont care about data and the phillips ovehead nasal pillow mask i got fits the resmed hose but i hate all this stuff because it’s all wayyyy too much info. I dont have help or a sleep doctor and calling people sucks cuz everyone is busy

I'd still go with the Dreamstation Go for travel. Same size and you can use it at home as well without sacrificing any features...plus not have to buy proprietary masks. Considering the Resmed has an external power supply, they're the same size.

Thanks for the review. That proprietary tubing really sucks that not compatible with other machine. And also lack of detailed wave report which I think even their APP should support viewing it without SD CARD. Hope Resmed will keep improving user experience.

Are you trying to type "proprietary"? This isn't even in the same category in terms of a comparison. It's SO proprietary that ResMeds own masks don't work on it.

Great review. I travel a lot and like to travel light too. Bought a Z1 machine from a sponsor site and used the lefty15 coupon and picked up this sweet little guy for under 500. Used it for 8 nights in Europe. No complaints. did the job, a few acceptable drawbacks. It worked for me though.. check it out.

Your sleep data is stored on the app so there's no need for an SD card. You also don't need distilled water to use it due to the filter on the mask and also why you can only use their hose

Does anyone have trouble with loud air noise in the tubing and elbow? (Ive checked and its not leaking) I own two cpap machines. A system one philips with simplus f&p mask and a resmed mini with airfit f20 mask. The philips system is almost completely silent at the mask end. The resmed mini sounds like a jet engine rush. (without the whine) near your ear. I have to share rooms with workmates and the rushing noise from the narrow tubing and outlet on the mini is going to be an issue. Is there anything I can do? Or is the resmed mini a naturally noisy tubing and elbow/connector/exhaust system? (The machine itself is very quiet by the way)

I like my air mini. I use it for both home and travel. My original resmed had a water reservoir that I could never adjust for what I needed, so I found I was not wearing my mask. With air mini the Humidx has really been helpful for me. I don't smell anything. The air mini cost me $1000 so I am glad I can use it for home and travel. For travel really great as it doesn't add to my luggage weight. I don't have the fitting issues you did. Maybe the mask/tubing is made for female profiles? I really appreciate your video as I had no idea my travel air mini had an app. Even if it is useless, good to know

@@davidinmd712 I've been told distilled is not required. They just recommend that because most people don't clean their tanks. If you use twice boiled water it should be fine.

I have a brand new one, and the mask makes so much noise I really can’t use it. I don’t have a humidifier, the mask doesn’t leak, and the filter isn’t clogged. The noise isn’t from the machine, is air flowing through the mask, so the noise is right next to my face. I’ve bought the adaptor and used the mask from my home machine - I sound like Darth Vader with a head cold. It’s really horrible.

I just purchased the Mini for a train trip we just got back from and so far I liked the unit. I like the App and I hate the mask. I know there are only two masks that are certified for this unit I prefer the other one, of course. I used it for a few nights at home prior to leaving and it worked great, except for the mask.

I am using the Airmini 100% of the time now due to the recall, the air filter door is damaged and according to Resmed this is not a replaceable part? The device is not useable without the airfilter door cover. I may try to have the airfilter door cover 3d printed but this seems unreasonable on my part. Resmed customer service thus far has been no help.

I wish I watched your video before buying the machine that costs $910.00 without the accessories. As soon I found out that I have to buy all hoses, special connectors, and different masks, I wanted to return the machine. The company said that since I opened it and they would not take it and I had to talk to the manager to get a return approval and still will pay a 15% restocking fee. The manager ended up ordering the hose and the mask free for me. I just feel that it may not be that good since using different masks is really worrying me. I wish I did not buy it. Is there a market to sell it? I never use it. It is brand new.

I just got this machine. I've used it for one week when traveling overseas. I like it. However.....(there's always a but...) I have now found out that I can't download any data to print out or even send to my dr. as I'm required in order to keep my pilot license and my job. This machine is great but that sucks. If anyone has any idea how to get that data let me know ASAP. Otherwise I'm going to send it back while im in the 30 day trial period.

Thank you so much for the tips on how to change the pressure! My regular APAP caused aerophagia which was very painful. I had it reset to CPAP and had to change the pressure on my mini to prevent it from happening with this one. I also couldn’t handle the noise from the hose so got the adapter from Amazon and use my regular N20 mask. Can’t use the moisture packs with it but found they didn’t do much anyway. Still better than dragging my large one (Airsense 10 for Her) around when travelling for work.

When my Dream Station got recalled, I purchased the AirMini. Of course, I got ripped off as the price was high after the recall. Wish I'd known about your website. What you say is true...the mask situation is abysmal. Just when I found a mask for the Dream Station that worked for me after 5 years of trial and error, the machine gets recalled! What I don't like about the mini which you didn't mention is that the air sound is loud compared to the Dream Station.

Thanks for this review. I was thinking about buying one of these and putting in the settings from my Aircurve 10s. However, the inability to pull the data is a dealbreaker. I MUST have the ability to pull my own data as a CDL driver. I use the OSCAR program on Windows 10 for pulling and printing out my data right before my DOT physical every year. Some doctors that do the physicals can/will do it themselves if I bring them the SD card. Other ones can't be bothered if doing that isn't part of their normal routine (they're different depending on what company I drive for)

Watching this makes wonder how this stuff can be so poorly designed. I modified the frame of my Fisher & Paykel Simplus I installed a shield (made from a plastic soap bottle and duct tape) that keeps the discharge air from blowing into my eyes. Modified the mask is quite comfortable. I've have a nasal pillow, but don't care for it much, but there's nothing really wrong with it. I have been looking for another mask, because I'd rather not have to make the modification to the frame, but of the two others I've tried, I found one to be uncomfortable and the other to be ridiculous in terms of almost every aspect. It's hard to believe anyone might like it. The little machine you reviewed has some very obvious shortcomings. Why they would design a contraption with a bobber that bangs on your chin is beyond me. Can't the designers see something as obvious as that?
