When I first got my machine, my Doc set me at 8-12. I felt like I was breathing thru a straw, and I looked at the data and saw I went to 12 within minutes of falling asleep. I changed it to 12-20, and things have been great. At my 30 day check up, my Doc looked at my data, and made a comment about how good he did setting up my machine. I didn’t say a word.

LOL, yes, mine set me up at 4-20 which worked ok until I found that the 4 should really be higher. Thanks to a YT clip, I discovered how to change settings. I doubled to 8, and only last eve I lowered the 20 to 15. This way I hope to live with the fact that only after 2+ years my heater system nixed itself and that a replacement heater still doesn't work. Also the projected 7+ years of use before $800-$900 total replacement does not hold true in my mind, but if I can reduce my dry mouth and dried out eyes with lower pressures, so be it.

Jason, thank you for this channel and this video was such a home run for answering some of the questions I've been having lately. I've been using OSCAR now to track my data and trying to get to the bottom of the past few weeks all of a sudden in APAP just not working well for me any more. My O2 drops so often in the night now that I'm constantly getting warnings on my lookee oximeter ring. I had recalled in one of your previous videos having you say you didn't care for the EPR setting because of messing up the CO2. I'm definitely trying the CPAP mode with no EPR tonight and watching the OSCAR data in the morning to see how I respond. I had the sleep study last night but I have to wait TWO WEEKS before the doctor has time for my what to do next appointment!! Meanwhile, my days are just complete exhaustion. I just wanted to THANK YOU for this super timely video. It was exactly what I needed right now. Definitely supporting you in one way or another for your hard work in educating us! I'll be signing up for the OSCAR review for example if I still remain stumped on what to do next. More soon! thanks again!

So my ramp is set for 20 minutes and by the time I've fallen asleep, it has slowly ramped up to my best setting (which is around 12). 6 years on, still need the ramp. Annoying but thankful for the setting!

The only time EPR should be used is if you have an underlying neuromuscular condition that effects respiratory function such as muscular dystrophy or spinal muscular atrophy. Because it actually stops the person from exerting too much energy when breathing. Also people with these types of conditions are at risk of a build up of co2 in their blood which means that they enter into an acidotic state.

Quick question. I switched from the F&P Vitera full mask to the ResMed AirFit N20 nasal mask. When changing the settings, the ResMed AirFit N20 info. said to set it on “pillows” instead of “nasal”. Any particular reason why? It’s a nasal mask, not the nasal pillows that go in your nostrils, so that didn’t make sense to me, but I put it on “pillows” like it said. Also, where can I find & get “Oscar”? The AirSense 10 manual says it includes an SD card, but it doesn’t come with one, do that didn’t make much sense either.

Not related, but the fan motor in my home heating system lasted 34 years, running constantly, something like 14 billion revolutions. @Freecpapadvice3 жыл бұрын
I'm going by what a Respironics rep told me. It could be complete B.S.. It's not something that I'm able to "look into", so I haven't. I'd take that comment you're referring to with a grain of salt. That said, when I use the Dreamwear under the nose cushion, I do so with it on the nasal setting and have had no problems to speak of. I might try a nasal pillow setting and see if it has an effect on the OSCAR reported leak rate. Other than that I can't see what else it would effect.

Do you have a video on how to setup the modem so a sleep physician has remote access to the data on the ResMed Airsense/Aircurve 10 Auto BiPAP machine?

It may already be set up like that. My DME co. did that when they programmed mine. Also, you can go into the MyAir app , look under “profile” on bottom right, click “settings”, then click on “share with provider”. It allows data to be viewed remotely by your provider. Like I said, though, they may have it already done another way. I didn’t have that checked on mine, yet both my pulmonologist & the DME co. already had access to that.

Hello, I'd like to know if one of your devices would respond to that specific issue : a breathing from the patient that doesnt stop brutally like in an apnea, but which has a minute ventilation continuously low in the few minutes after falling asleep (long insp. and exp. time, no obstruction), which ends up waking him up and not fully falling asleep. The nights when this event doesnt happen, the minute ventilation has a higher average and the sleep is ok. Do you know any algorithm or setting that could allow to preset a fixed target level for minute ventilation ? Thanks a lot, wishing you a good day

I’ve had a ResMed AirSense 10 for about 4 years now. It recently stopped transmitting data due to discontinued 3G coverage in my area. So, I no longer get data in the MyAir App on my smartphone. I downloaded Oscar and read the data from my SD Card into it. It only shows Summary Data and says “Daily Data is Not Available”. Is there a setting on the AirSense 10 that allows storing Daily Data on the SD Card that is able to be read into Oscar?

Is there a setting for the machine to NOT shut off unless I press the power button?

Still trying to figure this one out.... I feel exasperated/so tired trying to exhale even on 3 EPR with this. Even the lower pressure with nasal pillows I can’t seem to breathe well. I wake up with a racing heart after an hour or two and rip it off in my sleep.

Download OSCAR from sleepfiles.com/OSCAR. It will hopefully provide some insight.

My machine is set to "AUTO' for Ramp Time...what is actually happening? (It has been that way for 3 years).
@JaimeDornanLady3 жыл бұрын
Look at the video at -9.48, -9.50. The ramp time is a feature that makes the CPAP start at a lower pressure and gradually build up to what you need when you finally fall asleep. That helps you have a more gradual increase, instead of the immediate shock of a high pressure blowing at you. Some pple. tolerate it better by starting at a lower pressure as they’re falling asleep.

According to Resmed, the machine can identify when you are likely falling asleep. It adjusts the ramp for that so that you are ramped up shortly after you've fallen asleep. Look at your Oscar data with and without and you can see that difference.
