I like these long term reviews, after you have had to time to really put the Action 4 through it paces. With the firmware updates they have added 10 bit color in normal profile, compatibility with the DJI Mic 2 and other improvements this has become my favorite action camera that I have ever used. Hi Shawn, I have just sold all my GoPro stuff and i'm ready to press the button when the action 5 is announced. I have already bought some dji mounts and I'm super impressed with the quality. Ive had dji drones for several years now and have never had an issue so really looking forward to a new experience from 18 years of GoPro 🤞🏼

Thanks for the video , i have bought one for mye hiking that will start in the spring. One question: On the gopro i always have had battery faulths, like, i cant trust theme. One example: At wintertime the battery can be fully charged. It goes down to, like 40% , and suddenly,bang,it dies. I have had this on gopro 6, 7,8 and 9. The same problems. Also, after using the battery alot on my gopro, the quality of battery is reduced. Like, one battery that is one year old gives 50% lesser battery compared by a new one. So the question is: How is this on the ozmo 4? Do they last or do i need to buy alot of theme,to be safe? Its about when i am out there on the mountains, long away from a charging place, are they relayabel?:)

My A4 has been reliable. I can get about 80-90 minutes per charge at 30 FPS with horizon balance on.

Well, the Osmo action four is perfect for that kind of scenario, as is a GoPro. They all work well for underwater footage.

Bought and returned the next day. Requires "Activation" from DJI. Why would a camera require activation? I understand a cellphone or drone but a camera? Called DJI and was told it was to keep track of active v. inactive phones! Huh? I asked if they can deactivate a lost phone to which the said yes. So this means users are being followed by DJI.

Also our information gets distributed and sold to other companies. I feel bad for the people that give them, their personal info just to use a camera... Is this strange blue hue (sky) between 22s - 37s shows often in the videos ? I think GoPro does much better job. But Is time to replace my strange behaving GoPro with something more reliable Action 4 may be my next choice

Since dji sells the TX as a standalone, would you say try that first before spending double on a whole kit? I'm looking to do videos and will only be walking around a car.

That may not be a bad idea. In fact, you may find just the transmitter will meet all of your needs. Honestly for the most part that’s all I’ve been using. I am filming an outdoor channel right now and it’s all done with my action for and just a transmitter. It’s simple, clean and efficient.

I think there's a good chance that DJI will include a built-in 2.4GHz receiver in the Action 5, like they did with the Pocket 3.

Yes, I use it all the time on my dirtbike with a chest mount works wonderfully. Stabilization is perfect.

Ty for showing the limitation with the bluetooth. That's the same i had using bt on garmin virbs in old days. Dji mic2 is a better choice. Maybe i will try it on virb 360.

Does anyone have any knowledge of the longevity of the Osmo 4? Ive been using GoPro 11 black and they are built to break down within a year. The metal under the lens mount is cheap stuff that rusts in water, and they get condensation inside easily. Then when they stop working, you find out how bad GoPro 'No question asked' replacement deal is. Basically they refuse to replace, even though you pay for it. So I'm interested in the Osmo...

Yeh you can, just shoot normal colour and make sure you use video codec HVEC, and it films in 10 bit

What would you like to see in the Action 5 that the Action 4 doesn't have Shawn? I've been using my OA4 on the front of my truck to get footage of a mountain community and it has done really well. It dawned on me that the wind sock I used last time covered the Temp Sensor you spoke of in this video so I won't be using it again for that purpose. I'm truly amazed at the quality of the video from such a small package with great stabilization. DJI products do tend to overlap that way

We’ve found it has problems maintaining a level horizon when rigged directly to a motor vehicle and exposed to engine vibrations. It’s proven to be useless in producing our boating safety videos. The sensitivity to engine vibrations also translates to image quality issues when stabilization is enabled

DJI Osmo app is garbage. I had to send my back to B&H. I have an android phone Samsung Galaxy A13 and I couldn't down load the app. Got in touch with DJI and they told me the app won't work with my phone. Well damn, I'm not gonna buy another phone (just got this fix) so I'm sending it back. I guess I gotta look at the Go Pro. Thanks for nothing DJI very disappointed

This the problem, when you contact DJI, they didn't tell me I didn't need the app for the camera to work. I got in touch with the tech dept at B&H and they gave me better information and support then DJI. Yes, I love the camera and didn't want to send it back. I had that problem, I've got an old Galaxy S9 and couldn't get the app to connect, ots was just showing shopping for drones. I downloaded the android app from their site, installed it and straight away the phone connected and activated.
