What's up guys. Listen I'm 62 years old I baught Pink Floyd Dark Side Of The Moon in 1972 and in 1975 I baught the album Wish You Were Here. If or when you get the vinyl Dark Side Of The Moon, while Listening to it, you must light up a blunt sit back and injoy this album. The same gose for the album with wish you were here. Go on KZbin and see how The Great Gig In The Sky was put together. It will blow your mind. Great job on your show. (Leroy from Youngstown, Ohio).

This came out in 75, the era of studio wizards. I chose this one as it fits with the premise of your channel as you're both producers and the song being from the perspective of a recording exec. The muted filter used at the end is realy neat in that it takes you from real life to it's radio airplay, showing that the band took the bait and the deal in the end. The 80-90's wasn't kind to bands/artists from the 70's, many had become watered down and commercialized corporate goo by then. I'm glad you enjoyed it, Pink Floyd is a huge rabbit hole, have fun Gentlemen.

Roger Waters - bass. vocals; David Gilmour - guitar, vocals; Nick Mason - drums, Richard Wright - keyboards. This song guest vocalist - Roy Harper. Pink Floyd was a British progressive rock band, perhaps the definitive prog-rock band. This a deep dive worth every second. Pink Floyd's albums were all recorded gapless and were meant to be listened to continuously. Each song feeds into the next. Try the songs, "Wish You Were Here," "Time," "Comfortably Numb," Shine On You Crazy Diamond," "Dogs," for starters.

Roy is a great folk rock artist with over 20 studio albums of his own and was great friends and mentor to David Gilmour, Jimmy Page and Kate Bush all icons of 70s music. His song ‘You’ from album, The unknown soldier(1980) features both Gilmour and Kate Bush although the song I think you guys should listen to is ‘Same old rock’ from his 1971 album Stormcock. It features Jimmy Page on acoustic guitar but the thing is how Roy presents acoustic guitar and vocals on that track way back in 1971.

Love this song. Displays how much they despised the record companies leeches dressed in suits, the line "BTW , which one's Pink ? " says' it all about the money grubbing execs they had to deal with. Suggest you fella's check out the album (prior to this one) "Dark Side of the Moon" which is when the band really exploded onto the world stage. If you can't do the whole album the tracks "Time" and "Money" would be a good start.

This is progressive. Progressive rock was very popular in the late sixties through the seventies and is still played by many bands today. See: Tool Progressive rock draws its inspiration from nearly every other genre of music. From classical and jazz to rock and roll to the blues. The band "Yes" is in my opinion the best progressive (called prog now) band ever. Check out "Roundabout." It is a good start to the rabbit hole that is progressive rock.

Pink Floyd is their own genre, you won't be able to lock them down as to who else they sound like because they don't sound like anyone else and nobody sounds like them!! Try the song "Time" from their "Dark Side of the Moon" album or "Comfortably Numb" from their"The Wall" album and you will see. Without reading many comments yet, I am certain that you have been inundated with recommended tunes. I am sure they are all correct as you can't go wrong. I will just say that Dark Side Of the Moon, Wish You Were Here (the album this tune you're reacting to is on), Animals and The Wall are all masterpieces. I personally would add in Meddle to those four, which includes Echoes-a must listen to both from the album and live from Pompeii. Other than Meddle, the other four albums are meant to be heard all at one time. I realize that is a tall order when you're posting YT reactions-but just to let you know, each song from those albums is part of a collective theme. Enjoy!!

If you ever wondered, the guy on the cover really is on fire. You already know everything there is to know probably, but yeah, their music is heavily rooted in blues (as is all of rock n roll), this generation of English kids grew up on Chuck Berry, Muddy Waters, all the Kings, Elvis and The Beatles and many more. Pink Floyd (Pink Anderson and Floyd Council, thats who the Pink and the Floyd are) just took that and went somewhere in outer space with it.

Pink Floyd, formed in 1965; named after two old bluesmen, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. Besides Syd Barrett who left in '68 (and that's another story), there's David Gilmour on guitar and vocals, Roger Waters on bass and some vocals, Richard Wright on keyboards and some vocals, Nick Mason on drums. They are hands down one of the greatest bands there ever was. Their album Dark Side of the Moon (came out in '73) stayed on the charts for 741 weeks. That album and Wish You Were Here album (came out in '75) are meant to be listened to in one sitting as the songs flow together, which is why this song sounds like it ends abruptly. This song is on their Wish You Were Here album. It's about corruption in the music business; guest vocalist Roy Harper. They were considered "progressive" rock, although are really a genre of their own. Their live shows are legendary. You guys are going to love this rabbit hole and that's an understatement.

Stumbled upon your channel just recently gentlemen, and very much enjoying your reactions! Much like Steely Dan, Pink Floyd is basically a genre unto themselves. Psychedelic rock, progressive rock, those might be the closest descriptions. They pioneered many studio tricks and use of electronics to make their amazing sounds. David Gilmour is on my Mount Rushmore of guitar players. You don't get it as much in this song, but his guitar playing is perhaps the most emotive of anyone that's ever played the instrument. You'll see. I do HIGHLY, HIGHLY suggest that when you get to Dark Side of the Moon, one of the best albums ever made, you do it from start to finish. And you have to get the vinyl as you've mentioned with other albums. Pretty much all the tracks run from one right into the other so listening on vinyl is best. This is another rabbit hole to be sure. Enjoy the journey, you're going to LOVE it. Oh, and I will also say, Pink Floyd has pretty much always been best enjoyed while relaxing with some good headphones and a little something to puff on. 😁

You guys rock! When the record company says "The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think... Oh, by the way, which one's Pink? (a total slam to the record company). Here's the history of the band's name... Pinkney “Pink” Anderson (b. 1900) & Floyd Council (b. 1911) 2 American south eastern musicians. Both born in S. Carolina Both were Piedmont Blues style musicians. (alternating thumb-bass supporting melody finger picked on treble strings) Floyd Council backed up Blind Boy Fuller on some projects. So... this is one reason why Pink Floyd is so great. They don't just make songs. they create an experience!

Pink Floyd is Legendary, they are an Experience man! Pink Floyd was formed in London in1965, from 1968 to 1985, Pink Floyd had 4 members. Roger Waters, (bass), David Gilmour, (guitar), Rick Wright, (keyboards)and Nick Mason, (drums). In 1985 Roger Waters quit the band, and the three remaining members carried on as Pink Floyd from 1986 to 2008, when Rick Wright died of cancer. They have almost used at least three background singers in the studio and live, also using more touring musicians at live performances. None of these singers and musicians are in the Pink Floyd band. Pink Floyd has sold over 250 millions worldwide, they are one of the bast selling Rock Bands of all time. Pink Floyds' roots are in Blues, American Blues, just like virtually every other Rock Band to come out of England in the 1960s. They took their name from two old time American Blues guitarists from the mi 1900,... ... PINK Anderson, (1900 - 1974), and Floyd Council, (1911 - 1976).

This is my favorite Flyod song. Witty, sarcastic clever and classic! Totally original! You have to listen to more of them. Which I know you do. A little late finding you guys out, which I just did last weekend. Trying to catch up.

They had to do all this stuff with analog equipment too. They're not the only ones that was doing this stuff, but they're one of the most influential artists experimenting with it.

You go down the Pink Floyd 'rabbit hole', you ain't ever coming out. 'Shine on your crazy Diamond', 'Comfortably Numb', 'Time', 'Hey You', 'Wish you were Here', 'Dogs', the list goes on and on. To me, PF was the most innovative band in rock history. Pure brilliance. David Gilmour lead guitar and vocals, Roger Waters vocals and guitar and wrote most of the songs.

Believe it or not, only 4 people make this beautiful music... And it sounds current because good music is timeless... YOu have stumbled on one of the best group of musicians to ever be assembled. And my personal all time favorite band. Black Sabbath, though very different and for different reasons, is a close second, depending on my mood...

Just recently found you, love what you're doing, this is all the stuff my band covers,my best friend and drummer just passed away, first time I met him he said " I've never heard anyone play Since I've Been Loving You so perfectly." We were just kids, I took it so big because he was two years older and a much better drummer than anyone I knew. Im heartbroken over his death, but seeing new people dig good music helps.

This album is their 1975 follow-up to the legendary, epic-of-all-epics, Dark Side of the Moon. Overall, the album deals with separation, isolation and the pressures put on artists by the music industry that can cause emotional breakdown. This tune in particular is their lament against the nameless, faceless industry execs who care nothing about the artists except for how much money they can make off them. The masterwork "Shine on You Crazy Diamond" is a mystical, heart wrenching tribute to their dear friend, founder and former bandmate Syd Barrett. David Gilmour: vocals and guitars Roger Waters: vocals and bass Richard Wright: keys and background vocals Nick Mason: drums Pink Floyd doesn't fit into any one genre, they incorporate many styles, techniques and atmospheric elements into a sound that is uniquely theirs. No other band like them...not even close.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention (and you'll hear this from others) their albums are complete works, with one song leading into the next with no pauses. You can certainly react to individual songs, but many times they don't end like a typical album cut.

You speak the truth, they are their own genre and had as good a run in the 70s as anyone.

Syd barrett--the mastermind behind PF, came up with the name on the spur of the moment. the Tea Set was performing before them, so Syd took the first names of the 2 men playing in the tea set, Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. The lines," the band is just fantastic, that is really what I think.." oh by the way, which ones pink?, is to show their lies and point towards true intent -..I love the line, "We're so happy we can hardly count"

I’m getting old, but we always analyzed songs to the point where we knew the meaning. When this song came on we all said “ fuck the record executives”. Then when “wish you were here” started we all said a Hail Mary to Syd Barrett. Again, I’m older, but damn things once meant a lot more. The fucked up part is that they actually wrote the music that they played, now it’s all performed by someone, written by someone else, and auto tuned. That’s why no one will remember it like this song.

"Oh by the way, which one's Pink?" -- lol -- Epic! The ultimate in album oriented rock. The seventies were when FM rock radio came into its strength thanks to bands like Pink Floyd. 1975. Great records to test your speakers out on too. Crank it up! There are plenty of great individual tracks in the Pink Floyd catalog, but really their albums are where its at -- "Dark Side of the Moon", "Wish You Were Here", "Animals", "The Wall" -- Otherwise, for tracks, check out "Pigs (Three Different Ones)", "Time", "Us And Them", "Money", "Welcome To The Machine", "Wish You Were Here", "Another Brick in the Wall, Part 2", "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" -- Parts 1 through 9 ... cosmic music ...

This is one of Roger Waters' songs about how much he hates record executives and the music "business" in general. Gilmour's guitar work here is phenomenal!
