That's what i'm saying! I use the desktop mac but even when I use my macbook I wanna use the airpods max. I'd only use airpods if i'm on a road trip or out and about. I really hope next year they give us the airpods max 2 with water resistance and different material as to stop water moisture from going into the headphones from breaking them.

I really want to get them, but I don't wanna pay half thousand in the off chances it breaks due to there bad design. I am not in the apple ecosystem yet so I don't have apple care either.

I don’t think they’re removing them but I think I they’ve gone the route of the HomePod and Mac Pro. Long upgrade cycles. The Max announcement was just to bring them up to spec for European regulations. It shouldn’t have even been highlighted and just done as a refresh in the store.

@@superzero4250 audio quality - one obvious upgrade for them everyone’s been talking about is using WiFi band instead of Bluetooth. Some wireless headphones already do this… That said, the difference in audio quality will not be appreciated by the majority of people so they have no reason to do it. An even bigger upgrade would be the amplifier of the drivers. There is always room for improvement here…

I know, I still have the first ultra and I was thinking of upgrading once the ultra 3 came out which was what I was expecting. Right now the Apple Watch 10 titanium is catching my interest and that’s the watch. I’m actually thinking of upgrading to. It has an updated chip a bigger display, and it has the same nets of brightness as the first ultra, which to me is bright enough. So for me updating to the 10 is more value than updating to the ultra to in a black color.

When Beats put out the Studio Pro headphones they were explicit that you can play lossless audio through USB-C. It is stunning Apple may not be offering that feature in the AirPods Max.

I’m calling it now, it will be discontinued. A minor update to dispel rumours that it will never be updated, but not an actual update that denotes concern for the long term sales of the product. Apple has done this more and more in its modern era. Release a product that people like but that doesn’t have a stable market for whatever reason, and it gets canceled to the dismay of fanboys. iMac Pro. 12 inch MacBook. iPhone mini. AirPods Max are next, I’m telling you. iPad mini is also likely on the chopping block.

Extremely disappointed in airpod Max. Should put H2 in, upgrade to at least Bluetooth 5.3 or 5.4 even though 6.0 is out. Also needed get rid of bra case and do something about the condensation. I might look into Sonos Ace or new Sony coming in early 2025. Replace the XM5s.

Don’t see anyone talking about this, but it’s worth noting that the ‘new’ AirPods Max are actually worse than before because Apple didn’t update the audio cable from lightning to USB-C so now you can’t connect them to a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The color update and USB-C update was fine, IF it was released about a year after the first release, and it would've still made people upset for not fixing major issues. But... people waited 4 year. FOUR DAMN YEARS. I always wanted Airpods Max but kept waiting since I always believed there would be a new version coming every year, which never happened. And there has been multiple occasions that I could get a pair of Max for less than 300$ on Black Friday or Boxing day etc. And now I feel like an idiot not getting a pair that is technically doing the same job, in a same form factor, for MUCH cheaper price, and for much earlier time! I even went for Airpods Max after the event without even checking what has been updated, because I trusted Apple would at least fixed "1 Major issue." or just simply updated a chip. NOTHING! NOT A SINGLE UPDATE! For the first time in my life I'm cancelling/returning my order from Apple, and I don't think I would ever buy anything from Apple unless I strictly need it for work. And for last 15 years I bought 5 Macbooks, 5 ipads (including iPad 1st version), 8 iPhones, 4 Apple watches and 4 Airpods. This is the biggest disappointment I've ever had from Apple, and feel more like a betrayal. It is just more of a sad, than mad, feeling.

I presume they didn't want to upgrade the hardware because they didn't want to add "Adaptive Transparency," which a person would most likely use outdoors. They don't want you to use it outdoors because it isn't waterproof/dustproof, etc... The reason they didn't want to do that was probably because they would have had to change the entire design of the AirPods Max since they likely prefer the comfort/aesthetics of the mesh design. Thus, there would be no reason to upgrade the hardware or redesign it for outdoor use and are pushing users to get the Beats Studio Pro with lossless for those reasons instead.

They’re basically a pair of Over-the-Ear, Bluetooth, Noise Cancelling headphones, with Transparency Mode. Honestly, what else are they suppose to do… It’s like expecting earth shattering new technology in a rechargeable toothbrush. They only switched to USB-C because of all the whiny bitching, and the EU… Most audiophiles, musicians, or studio engineers have headphones that are older than the majority of the people who are complaining about Lightning…. 🤔

The design is terrible, the sound signature awful, they don’t have the H2 chip, which is the latest iteration of Apple’s headphone hardware and they’re still asking $550? They weren’t worth $550 to begin with, now the AirPods Pro 2 out perform their “updated” flagship and will continue to for the foreseeable future and people are still going to buy these things. @@thejasontlewis Recently bought a NEW pair of AirPod Max a couple of months ago, with full knowledge Apple will potentially update them in September. The prior pairs of OEH are a couple of Beats Solo 3, which came free with purchases of a MacBook Pro and iPad Pro back in 2018… Comparatively, the AP Max is superior to the Solo 3’s in every feature and category save for weight, which is honestly negligible in our opinion… Not to mention, these type of headphones are typically not the kind of products that are purchased frequently once obtained. We are solely in the APPLE ecosystem for our own personal reasons that suits our workflow and lifestyle, honestly, Lightning has never been a bottleneck in anything we do realistically and essentially a non issue. Plus we mostly charge wirelessly anyway… During the summer, the AP Max has not produced condensation in either cup. The quality and durability seem top shelf. We are aware of the latest H2 chip technology, but the research shows that it is more beneficial for a product like the AirPod Pro’s as the earbuds function more independently for communication, connectivity, and for Find My. Most of the other more basic processes for a pair of headphones or speakers like the HomePods are easily handled by the H1 chip as they are more unified or singular in their function… Best of all we didn’t spend more than $500 even with tax, not even close… 🤔

I almost got the AirPods Max late last year, but then I watched several video reviews of them and people were complaining of no on/off button, the padding in the overheard crossbars weakening to the point you had iron bars with the weight of the earpieces riding on top of your head causing discomfort. They also pointed out the lightning connection, an older H chip and a U chip. All in all, they had issues. So, they have been out for 3 plus years and all they fixed is adding USB-C and a few colors???? Price is still way too much too, still! Wow!! Total fail Apple!! Hadn't heard about the condensation issue. The AirPods 4 stuff was pretty cool, but I love my AirPods Pro 2. Pretty damn good.

This is some strange year: first GoPro, now Apple ( Most of what Apple showed at the presentation will be available together with the OS on the previous generation. Among the new interesting solutions - the camera button and the fact that they made AirPods 4 a kind of Pro for those who do not like silicone earbuds. Even the camera update on the iPhone was shown absolutely uninterestingly and with the same words as a year or two ago. Max is the main disappointment, it would be better if they did not update them at all - then people who were waiting for the update so long, at least had hope for improvement )

I had hoped that they would put an H2 chip in the Airpods Max and upgrade the functions like those in the Airpods Pro 2. The case also deserves a good upgrade. Now that not much has changed, I would have expected a price drop. I think that customers who were waiting for the new Airpods Max will now opt for the Airpods Pro 2 and that the Airpods Max will soon disappear from the market. I have both products and am very happy with them, but for customers who would like to buy an Airpods Max for the first time, this is a disappointment.

Personally, there were two things that I had been waiting for and that I’d actually buy. The first - AirPods Max 2 - I already have AirPods Pro 2 and wanted to add the new over ears to my collection. Unfortunately, as you say, just some minor improvements and so nothing for me there. The second thing, an upgrade to my IPhone 13 mini which I adore. I don’t want a bigger phone, but alas no. So I want to buy stuff from Apple, but there was literally nothing of interest for me. Also, conversational awareness doesn’t work that well I agree. If I talk to someone and it kicks in, the room needs to be almost silent again before they will turn back up. So if I’ve finished my conversation but others are still talking, it cuts back in or remains active. So I have turned it off.

my AirPods Max died 25 months after I bought them - less than 1 month after my warranty ended. I sent them in to be fixed by Apple and even paid money for it. They partly worked for another month and a half maybe? Now they're a completely bricked device. People should carry far more shame

I have a feeling it will come out that you can now listen to lossless via a USB-C cable connected to your iPhone (15 onwards ie USB-C). Could be wrong but it might be one of those features Apple doesn’t mention. But as far as an upgrade this is a joke. No mention of the piece of crap case either.

I want/ed a pair of AirPod Max. But the price is a deal breaker for me, if they were priced similarly to Beats Pro, I could justify it. And reading the few criticisms of the 1st gen, I thought they would have made some updates.

What a disappointment, but tbh after my experience with wireless over-ear headphones, I always end up eventually using my cans exclusively wired. It's partly due to me not justifying using bluetooth audio while sitting at my desk, but also because traveling with a big pair of cans is already annoying, an additional wire isn't gonna make it any less of a hassle. With that being said, I absolutely love wireless earbuds, they make way more sense to me since it can always be in your pocket, not needing to be untangled

I couldn't even make it through CNET's 9 min recap of the Apple event. Like what are really suppose to do with a camera button and beta AI. Don't get me started on the Watch 10 with the same size display as the Ultra (whats the purpose of the Ultra at this point) and Airpods Max with no H2 chip. Apples first stand up comedy event.

Yeap!... apple should have made more detailed the AirPodsMAx presentation!... I don't understand why would they make a product as expensive as Hi-Fi headphones and don't say anything at all about the sound quality but mostly, do the lift towards more codecs in music presentation: aPTX in all of its varietis, and make the software and hardware able to play 24bit/192Khz quality sound!... In other words, make the whole AIRPODSMAX product a Hi-Fi one! Not just a fancy headphone for people to brag about using them when they don't have any idea of sound quality!... It's just stupid to pay so much money for that product when you haver so many brands delivering better ones for the same price! Or even buying 2 to 3 different headphones with incredible sound quality for the same amount of money.

I waited patiently for the airpod max 2, but was hugely disappointed . Apple never paid any attention to the product . H1 on a 2024 product , that's a mess .

Dear Jason, thank you for all your efforts. 100% agreement. What should I think and write, now? My euphoria is also very limited, but Apple has at least achieved one thing for me. My wallet and my bank account are very happy. I won't (have to) spend any money after all! Thank you very much, Apple!
