Not that big of an apple fan but I understand why they don't include the charging brick and accessories in general, for the charging brick it just seems like a waste because what's the likelihood you'd need to charge them and your iPhone at the same time? I have XM4’s and I recently (a few weeks ago) got a pair of Max’s and the Max’s are definitely nicer, sound a little better, and are a lot more comfortable, plus the passive mode is kind of insane… plus I hate the touch controls on the XM4’s. I ended up turning that off. The XM4’s have better noise canceling and are obviously cheaper but if you want to splurge a bit then you wouldn’t be going wrong with a set of AirPods Max.

Depends how you define affordable. The launch price of any Sony XM headphones isnt exactly cheap - £200 below Apple's is still expensive. And the XMs are made out of crack prone plastic, and replacements will come out of your own pocket because of how dire Sony support is. Even when XM2's were cracking en masse, Sony blamed it on the customer and looked the other way. And things havent improved with XM3. And then there is Sony's XM firmware updates which ruin the ANC. Customers are resorting to firmware update blocks to prevent their XMs becoming unusable. Personally I can't afford headphones if it'a not a long term investment.

I’ve been wanting noise canceling headphones so I bought the Sony ones. They arent cheap but they are reasonable for what they do. I love that they fold down and have a strong case (I throw it in my gym bag). They run for hours and are comfortable to wear for long flights, at the gym when sweating and every day chores/walking. I have an iphone but they connect well and don’t disconnect. I cant use airpods because they hurt my ears and Id never buy the maxes. I wont fan over any brand but if you step out of apple theres good shit. If you lean into apple there’s some nice tech too. Pick and choose.

Ehh……these things are actually kinda worth it if you exclude the “Smart Case”. I live in Canada. I went to the mall one day and I tried these on at the Apple Store. And if you can believe this, they drowned out 99% of the sounds in the mall without music playing. I own AirPods Pro myself, and one thing I’ve realized with AirPods Noise Cancellation is that if you play something, it’ll drown out the rest of the noise for sure. I just returned the Sony’s can’t get past how uncomfortable they get after only a couple hours of use. Also the touch controls are too unreliable for me. But those new AirPod max...pass. I keep Bose QC35 for a while longer
