I do the same thing with my APM; the other day, I wanted to use them but they wouldn't connect I tried reconnecting them and I got the three-blinker amber sign with no white light afterward. They will not connect to anything, and on the Apple support community site, tons of other people are dealing with the same thing, which supposedly has something to do with a pinhole inside the cup and moisture. I've charged them overnight and did almost anything anyone would do. My last resort is the freezer method I learned from the Apple community forum, so hopefully, that helps. If not, my headphones are dead for sure, so basically watch out

Is the only headphone that allowed me to speak with somebody without reducing volume, everything sounding natural, like listening music in the room. Spatial Audio sounds on this, like on no other headphone. Movies are also a great experience. Still my fav wireless .

Ok, so my take : I’ve had the AirPod Max since august 2021 and I still like them a lot. They are very confortable (even though I’m VERY petite), excellent build quality (mine still look like new), great sound sound really good. BUT… I also got the latest AirPods Pro recently. And I have to say that unfortunately the technology in the AirPods Max is now obsolete. I agree, they still have their qualities, but Spatial Audio and noise cancelling are not up to par compared to the new generation. So, are they still great? Yes, and I still use my Max almost all day, everyday at work (open space office…). But there is NO way they are worth the fulll price now. Although it seems like they’re never going to come, I say wait for the new version. Or try to buy the current version on sale. Just for context, I use the Max’s for listening to music, in the office, or while travelling (planes), while I use the Pro’s when walking, in public transportation, at the gym. So they both have their specific usefulness for me. Can’t wait for the new Max to come out!!!!

I’ve had the AirPods Max for a little over a year now, I bought them the night before a ten hour plane ride and they’re honestly a game changer. As a college student they’re a daily necessity, I don’t leave the house without them. Noise cancellation is great I wear them while studying, walking to class, eating lunch, I even started wearing them to the gym and the experience really isn’t that bad. Yes they are expensive but keep your eye out for refurbished pairs. I got mine from Best Buy for about $100 off and that’s still a lot of money but I genuinely have not once regretted the purchase.

You can hold your palm up to the sony ear cup and it will dim the music and tun on transparency. (XM4 not sure if the XM5 does that.) I appreciate the details tho, didn't realize the mesh earcups would be huge thing.

I got mine January 2021 at an open box price from Best Buy. They've been great and the build quality makes them feel like they can last for years. I hope apple changes the port to USB C soon though.

I bought a pair in April 2022 new from Best Buy because there weren’t any Certified Geek Squad pairs available and soon returned them after a couple weeks because of the high price and felt comfortable with my Air Pods Pro at the time. After coming back from vacation last August and seeing a lot of people on the airplane wearing regular headphones (a majority being Air Pods Max), I fiqured I would check back to see if Best Buy had the ones I wanted. They did and I got them for under $400. Still use them.

Great feedback/review video! Hmm I often wear mine watching videos etc in bed (to sleep) when I swivel mine they automatically go to sleep without the case. There’s probably a setting for this and it has been an ease to use, I haven’t had mine dying ever from lack of battery and I plug them in to charge whenever I can.

Some music producers were head and shoulders better at mixing and bringing a quality audio surround experience than others. Ive had mine since 2021 over the three years I've had the bluetooth board fail twice. Ive been told it's mainly due to moisture inside them which causes them to fail, they're struggle to keep moisture out due to the magnetic ear muffs. I would say sound quality is very good from all ranges. however the fact that I've had it fail twice with the same problem is alarming. The extra weight due to the metal does hurt my head and ears after about 2 hours. I think personally I can't get over the price, I bought them as I have an iPhone and MacBook which allows such easy connectivity, but I may go for Bose or Sony in the future.

Everything is always ready to connect once they emerge from their case. Just get in the habit of putting them away. It’s really that easy. 💯

But the issue with mine is that it’s quite the opposite: So when after the issue arrived just like the way it happened with yours, it didn’t wanted to stop as long as I’m not putting them in the case back. In the moment I put them in the case, they get disconnected, etc. The thing is just that I really like the case since it puts them in sleep so I don’t have to charge them every third day if I want to use them again. Except for that, they are the same as the AirPods Pro if we are talking about sound quality and experience since the anc is the same as the the AirPods Pro. (I got both of them and tested them. )

Thank you for such a wonderful review. I have been dreaming about these headphones since 2020, but the price, then and now, is, to put it mildly, biting. At the moment I am the owner of Bose Quiet Comfort 35 headphones. I won’t say that these are bad headphones, but if the ear pads become unusable due to sweat and it’s not always possible to replace them, you know, it’s annoying. As I understand it, AirPods Max ear pads do not have this problem. The only advantage of the Bose Quiet Comfort 35 headphones is the presence of a wired connection if there is no way to charge. Airpods Max, as far as I know, are deprived of this opportunity because even if they are zero-wired, the wired connection will allow you to listen to music. As for weight, probably after Bose, Airpods Max will be a little heavy, although to be honest, sometimes I got tired of Bose.

I don't use the included case, I just simply don't, and having to hold the Digital Crown and Noise Control button always brings the possibility to completely reset the device which is not what I intend to do most of the time!

Idk about the Max but the transparency mode on my Pro actually amplifies the outside voice vs just becoming transparent. I can hear more with the earphones in than I can without them. I find it interesting that’s not the case with these much better built headphones.

I just sold my white AirPods Max for 400 euro, and bought smaller AirPods Pro 2 Type C. The reason was that it is extremely uncomfortable to travel with, because they are large and take a lot of backpack space. Lightning is another con. And the biggest con for me was the lack of new features that AirPods Pro have.

Hey so I know this comment is quite old, but you might be dealing with corroded pins between the headband and the earcups. Try taking the earcups off the band by using a sim eject tool in the little hole near the top under the removable magnetic earpads. Then take a q-tip with rubbing alcohol (near 99% is best) or contact cleaner without lubricant, and scrub both the pins of the headband and inside the hole where the headband connects carefully but thoroughly. Then click the earcups back onto the headband. This helped me, maybe it helps you. Have a good life!

I just got mine and was fortunate to get it on Amazon during Prime. Enjoying it so far, however, it does feel a little heavy. Hope I’ll get accustomed to the weight…too much $$$ to sit in a drawer.

Planning to but AirPods Max but I have AirPods Pro and sometimes after using it for an hour or so I feel uncomfortable in my ears, have anyone felt the same with AirPods Max? Dose it cause any irritation after sometime?

Honestly I love mine. There were a couple days when I had to let them dry out because I accidentally splashed water on them and using old school EarPods when my AirPods Pro would die were the biggest pain in the @$$. There’s definitely room for improvement but they’re still fantastic and I missed them terribly while they were out of commission.

The connectivity issues are real and infuriating. However, it seems like it’s only an issue after 1-1.5 yrs, and not caused by not using the case. I’ve had 2 pairs of Air Pod Max’s and both had huge Bluetooth connectivity issues after 1 yr+. I got AppleCare for the 2nd pair, and Apple had to replace the left earcup, which I guess is the source of the connection issues. The Genius Bar employee seemed to indicate it’s a common issue, so it’s likely substandard parts/a design defect.

The way the Airpods Max work is that the dual H1 processors are connected by a lightning-type interface in a connection that goes through the headband with pogo pads on the inside of the cups that really have the spring loaded pieces making contact with those pads. The problem is that nothing is shielding that place where trash and dust can get into and all around that connection. What I did to fix mine is that I took the earcups off with the sim-eject tool, cleaned the big metal stems and metal contacts with a q-tip with 99% isopropyl then when that dried I took another q-tip and put a very very light layer of dielectric grease on each side of the contact pads and re-assembled them. They work better than when they were new. No more random reboots, no more disconnects, no more connection problems at all that I won't have because of firmware updates. Fixes them completely.
