I love how most of the comments here probably don't know Mac Address is an LMG channel, I'd love to see this style of production for more segments but it can be really expensive and exhausting to produce like this all the time. Man for all flaws Linus has, his hiring quality is pretty fucking great. Jonathan is a REMARKABLE writer. I must assume he has a huge play in the directing too. He loves apple, but also hates them. He has these huge expectations of a company that has no right not to deliver. I am impressed with this max channel and the fact it’s almost at 500k I think speaks to the quality of Jonathan. I am looking at upgrading for the ANC benefits. When I am working in the yard I use AirPods Pro and a set of ear muffs to drown out the sound of small engines. I hear that the ANC is much improved and possibly I could just use AirPods Pro to listen to music at a comfortable volume and drown out the noise. Also, the ability to filter sudden loud and sharp sounds makes me wonder if they could work at the shooting range. It would be nice to be able to hear the range officer a little easier and not wonder what Charlie Brown Special he voice acted in.

I've got the Gen1 Airpods Pro and I simply don't see myself upgrading anytime soon. They work perfectly fine for what I need. I'm meticulous about keeping my stuff together, so while the Find My improvements are nice, I've never lost my old ones in years of use. Most of the time, I use mine for screen recordings (as they're more comfortable and easier to use than my old wired earpods) or for listening to music or videos while I'm going to sleep. I work from home and I've got studio monitors at my desk that don't affect anyone else. I did pick up a pair of Genki Waveforms that I really like for gaming over my wired headphones (mainly because I can wire them directly into the case!), but they're lacking some functionality for general use (IMO) and, while they do sound good and have EQ adjustments, I find I don't really need (or want) that for general music listening. So the Airpods Pro Gen1 is going to stick around until they die for most of my needs.

I got them from day one and I absolutely love them! Also at 8:36, it seems full support of AirPods Pro 2 requires macOS Ventura. If you’re still on Monterey, the system might not even recognize them as AirPods sometimes and special features like Spatial Audio support and Find My disappear completely

Totally updated my perfectly fine and working airpod pro gen 1 - I daily drive those for 5-6 hrs every day and the improvement, however minor has been hugely noticeable. Also now the ANC is good enough to use on an airplane trip

Honestly just for the ANC I think it was worth it, often with the gen 1s I had to take them out and put them back in due to the pressure feeling but after having these in for hours I haven't had to do that once which also just generally increases the audio quality perception

I got AirPods Pro 2s on Launch Day, my first ever wireless headphones and I love them. Transparency mode is awesome, Noise Cancellation is good for Engine Noise… but not so good for voices. The XS Tips fit perfectly for me, they may stick out my ears a little bit more than most people as I have small ears, but, they sounds AMAZING. Great bass at all volumes, no distortion etc. I love them so much. Spatial Audio is great, on Stereo Music and Spatial Audio Supported Netflix. I have Personalised Spatial Audio turned on, I haven’t compared this On and Off though. I don’t use Spatial Audio with KZbin as it sounds awful

Love the volume editing, though it did freak me out while watching the video with my AirPods Pro 2's. As a huge fan of the AirPods and the first gen Pro's I am personally blown away by the 2's. It's in the ANC and battery life that I notice the biggest difference. Personal disagreements about the tips and ANC life aside, it's a pretty fair review. The glitches with too many BT devices is annoying, but nothing compared to firmware updates making compatibility with third party apps worse over time. Teams is especially bad at transferring audio and the new MS default Noise Suppression "feature" renders them unusable until you turn it off.

I personally only intended on upgrading my 1st gen AirPods Pro when they died. Sure enough, they started having problems and I got the 2nd gen... and it's an upgrade that I should have done regardless of how well my 1st gen ones worked. I sometimes use them as earplugs when sleeping, and the 2nd gen buds do so much better to block noise, then with transparency mode I can actually understand other people, and the sound is so much better. For me, any one of these would be worth the upgrade, but all three being that much better makes me wish I had upgraded sooner. On the other hand, there's the issue with Spacial Audio which isn't exclusive to the second generation AirPods. I tried editing video on my iPad with my AIrPods, and I found that Spatial Audio defaulted to on, and could only be controlled with an active audio stream, so basically while the video played in the editors I used. Pulling down Control Center stopped that stream, meaning that I had no way to turn Spatial Audio off, so needless to say that was irritating. Here's to hopes that Apple brings a fix out for that if they haven't already.

I have tried probably two dozen wireless earbuds with a multitude of devices. For me, the Airpods Pro first gen (don’t have 2nd yet) are amazing for Apple devices only. Every other non-Apple pair has the same glitchy problem on every Apple device I own, even if I take it down to being the only bluetooth device. This has happened since my 6S+ up through the 13 Pro Max. Even my Mac Minis (Intel and M1) both glitch with anything except Apple’s pair. My personal advice, if you don’t mind *A* cord, get a Fiio BT5 and use a pair of high end wired headphones. It is still bluetooth and wireless but the best sound quality, regardless of device. BUT… for convenience, I carry my Airpods Pros around most of the time. And I love that my Apple TV can even see the battery status without putting into the charging case. ;)

Seriously the best value headphones are the wired earpods that I got with my iPhone SE or you can buy them for £19 in the UK (less if you shop around). Comfortable, decent enough sound, a wire connecting them so you don’t lose them and they never need charging. Plus because they are so cheap, you can just throw them in your pocket and if you lose them, it’s not the end of the world.

I love mine BUT there is a bug right now that doesn’t disable head tracking even when I have the switch toggled in accessibility settings so I can’t use spatial audio at all. Very frustrating!

I did get the new ones but I use both. I use the new ones every single day when I walk the dog and I have my old ones in my iPad bag which I take with me everywhere when I don't need my laptop (the downside of your own business, you need something with you!). I was forever realising I'd left my headphones at home when I went places, so I now have my original AirPod Pros in that bag and they both get plenty of use. :). And the new ones are _noticeably better_ when you switch between them regularly. :)

Yes, to me it sounds way more natural, even on a stereo mix. I can’t listen to a song with a lot of hard pans (like Reckoner from Radiohead) without spatial audio anymore! By the way, technically Apple coud make (fixed) spatial audio available for any headphones if they wanted.

For Black Friday I got the AirPods Pro 2nd Gen for $199 in the US. My sister has tested my AirPods Pro 1st Gen in the past and is asking for them for Christmas. I figure that way nothing is going to waste or to a landfill and I get the new ones for cheaper than they ever will be again. Also the case on my 1st Gen is a bit weathered with scratches and imperfections. The upgrade was worth it already but especially so in my situation.

I still have my first gen AirPods, which are starting to die on me in a strange way. Left one works just fine, but the right one will die out after a couple of minutes. When used together, the right one will take out the left's connection. For mobility, I picked up the Razer Anzu on sale and love how I can just have my ears unobstructed which I prefer over the quality of bluetooth audio. And, If I am looking quality, nothing beats wired.

I must say, I am extremely tempted by the new air pod pros. For me, the main attraction is the improved active noise cancelling. I work in a biology lab where we work with biosafety cabinets. These generate a ton of air flow to create an air curtain between us and our samples. But the result is just a lot of white noise. Same thing for the cooling fans on our microscope. If the ANC is truly much better than it is now (which already is pretty good), then I am tempted. The added convenience of on-the-bud volume control is another bonus.

My Airpods Pro 1 are nearly 4 years old at this point. I use them everyday for at least 4 hours, even more sometimes. They are slowly dying : ANC or sound cuts off randomly, they won't charge, battery appears to be at 0% then jumps back to 100%. I do also run with these so they might have got some humidity too. Anyway, they still work but I'm seriously considering upgrading to the second gen.

I find the new APPs amazing when it comes to the sound and noise cancellation. The sound is so much fuller. And listening to video from the Apple TV, the spacial audio makes it sound like the people in the video are in my room. Amazing! And if you want a different tip, try the Comply Foam Tips...more comfortable than the plastic ones.

I upgraded and give my originals to one of my sons who had recently switch to iPhone from Samsung. It took a while on the originals to get use to the tips but I like them more for listening to music. I do actually prefer the original Air Pods (haven't tried gen3) for phone calls.

I felt almost forced to upgrade from my Gen 1’s. The squeaking/whistling when adjusting in my ear canal was something I was *extremely* relieved to be rid of. However, it became clear over time that Apple was hobbling the first gen’s performance as we got closer to the second. The battery life dropped significantly over the span of a single firmware update, both the ANC and “transparency” modes seemed way less effective, and connectivity became… odd. If I was listening to music on my iPhone while wearing my Apple Watch, walked away from my phone for a time, the AirPods would pair to my Watch and then think the priority device was the watch. On that note, why can’t we remove the Apple Watch pairing from our AirPods without removing them entirely from every device on our accounts? That makes zero sense to me. Until I power-cycled both the iPhone & Apple Watch and returned the AirPods to their case for a few minutes, the AirPods would *not* let go of thinking the Watch should be given connection exclusivity. Love my second gens, but I don’t look forward to how they’ll fare over time; especially when a third gen release becomes imminent

8:30 coming back to this video after having bought the APP2 now I have an actual point of reference, and I noticed something, I think that you may have not understood how head tracking works. at 8:30 you say you had head tracking "anchored" to your iPad despite listening to audio from your iMac, making it sound like the audio is coming from the wrong place. That isn't actually how head tracking works, it isn't "anchored" to any device at all, it's anchored to your head, literally. It doesn't use your device as a point of reference relative to the position of your AirPods in space, it uses the position of the AirPods in space _at the time of enabling head tracking_ as a point of reference. If you enable it while looking directly at your Mac screen, and then move your head around, it will sound like the audio is coming from your Mac as that's where you were facing when you enabled it. If you look in any other direction at the time of enabling it, it will appear to come from _that_ direction, regardless of where your device is positioned. This raises the question "what if I move, sit somewhere else, or was facing the wrong direction when I enabled it?". The AirPods recalibrate after a brief moment with no head movement, so if I'm on my Macbook at my desk facing East and I enable head tracking, it will sound like audio is coming from right in front of me/from my Macbook/from the East. Now if I stand up, grab my macbook, and go sit on the couch where I will now be facing North, as I sit down the audio will still come from where I _was_ sitting moments ago, from the East, but once I've sat down on the couch, and I've settled/stopped moving around, after around 10 seconds of sitting still and not moving my head, the AirPods will recalibrate to your new position, and the audio will shift to start coming from my new "default front direction", from the North, where my Macbook now is. So yeah it's nothing to do with the device, it doesn't use your device's camera to know where you are or anything, there must be a gyro or accelerometer or whatever baked directly into the APP2 for them to be able to have spatial localisation without using external info from a different device. I think what must have happened in your case is you were listening via your Mac and the audio was initially coming from where the iMac is positioned, then you glanced over to look at your iPad for a minute, the audio continued to come from the iMac as expected, but then the AirPods recalibrated to this new position which you must not have noticed (it's less noticing when audio shifts/recalibrates to your new position vs when you look back and expect the audio to become front and center again, only to have it become completely unbalanced), and when you looked back at your iMac you noticed the audio was no longer coming from front and center, but audibly coming from where you were looking a moment prior, your iPad. I think they should have enabled the option to have the physical location of the audio source be 100% persistent regardless of where you move, where you look, and for how long. I find it annoying when I want audio to come from my Macbook in front of me, then I glance over at my phone which is docked about 30 degrees to my right, and because it's docked I use it as is, with my index finger, rather than pulling out the dock every time to use it for >1 min at a time, then look back at my Macbook only to have off-center audio, just because my eyes weren't GLUED in my Macbook's direction. If I look away from where I _want_ the audio to come from, and I look away at something else, I feel like I have to keep looking back at my desired audio source to prevent them from recalibrating, otherwise, unless I am completely fixed and never looking away for longer than a few seconds, I'm constantly waiting for them to recalibrate, having to hold still and not look around to allow the AirPods to realise "OH, we have a new front direction! Recalibrate!". It seems that they only recalibrate if, not only if you have a "new default front direction", but also only if you hold still in that new direction for 10ish seconds (would need to time it to be sure), so if they have recalibrated to an incorrect direction just because you looked away for a few seconds too long, they will keep that incorrect direction source if you are actively glancing around, because the AirPods are evidently programmed to consider that it's normal for people to glance around, so they just assume you're glancing around away from your default front direction, UNLESS you hold completely still for long enough for them to switch to think "this must be the new front direction, recalibrate". Really long comment/analysis of the details of how head tracking works but there we have it. This might at least help some people to understand what's going on with their head tracking, because if they take this video at face value, they will start troubleshooting under the assumption that the AirPods are just anchored to the wrong device, using the wrong device as a source direction, when in actual fact all you need to do is stay still, and look in your desired direction for the AirPods to recalibrate by themselves. (Disabling and re-enabling head tracking is basically also a manual recalibration, just make sure that you are looking in your desired direction while you actually enable it, it will use your exact position at the moment of enabling it as the default position for audio to come from)

Yeah the audio cutting out isn’t just for bluetooth devices connect to an M1 Mac, its wireless. I had a Logitech keyboard and mouse connected to my Mac mini, and it still cut out. And it affected my keyboard and mouse performance. Drove me nuts.

I went with the 3’s over the pros for the non-intrusiveness and love them. Only time I regret it is on a flight where it’s surprisingly hard to hear at full volume - noise cancellation would come in handy there but it’s only a few times a year that comes into play so not worth the overall compromise in comfort.

Had Airpods 1 and thought that there is absolutely no need for Airpods Pro for me. Now, I don't use anything else than noise cancellation from those. It is insane, try them out and you will approve them in no time.

I got the lightning second gen pros (whatever) but.. wow they sound amazing.. truly stunning. The one thing I hate is actually related to how great the sound is weirdly.. how commercials now are all shady. I’ll explain. To get your attention they do iMessage sounds, door knocks and doorbell sounds. On these headphones you’ll hit pause or grab your phone to check messages cause it sounds THAT good. lol. Weird first world issue but one nonetheless.

Update: Had a bad experience with apple repair, so a customer service agent straight up had a brand new pair of gen 2 pros shipped to me! They’re pretty great. Ugh I wear my AirPods Pro like all the time and these seem like great upgrades, I just can’t justify dropping a fat $200 on a new pair quite yet :/ I’m thinking about selling them to upgrade but the idea of going through eBay makes me nervous just because there are so many scammers

I thought about a new pair as well when I started hearing some clicking sounds on the right earbud. Then I found the replacement program from apple. Now I got the old case, but new set of 1st gen airpods pro. All that AFTER the 2 year warranty period! I honestly thought, "these expensive earbuds are now kinda justified" and "what other model/brand would have done this?" (clearly apple isn't perfect with warranties, but this was impressive still). So, no, I won't be upgrading soon :)

Oh man this was a tough one, so, storytime, i've had wh-1000xm4's and they were great but i gave them away, then i got a sennheiser momentum 4 but returned them because the ANC was bad, so i got Airpods pro 2, the anc felt otherwordly, but after few weeks and a firmware update i compared them again with wh-1000xm4 anc and airpods were worse now(compared to when i got them, airpods had almost the same anc as sonys), so idk what happened with the ANC if it's the lawsuit or not, but i returned them, i bough the new wh-1000xm5, the anc was not as good and they were bulky and inpractical, out of the box sound was BAD, so i reordered the airpods pro 2 and i'm happy lmao, the firmware still hasn't updated so i hope they don't actually fuck up the ANC to the point where i'll have to stick triple plunged IEM's straight to my brain... edit: m1 macbook bluetooth connectivity is a hit or miss especially with a bluetooth keyboard+magic trackpad, same thing with my iphone 7... weird edit2: rtings compared the ANC of the new firmware and they found almost no change...

I have the AirPods, 1st gen AirPods Pro and now the AirPod Max. I love the regular AirPods, they work great for my main use of them: to connect to my phone for phone calls. I bought a set of AP Pro a year or so ago and while the work great, especially the ANC, they just will not stay in my ears, no matter what size tips I use. For the most part they sit in a drawer these days. A couple months ago I bought a set of AirPods Max and absolutely adore them. Aside from the cut-out issue on the MBP (likely due to the several BT accessories connected) they work great and the ANC is awesome since I now share my home office. Unless the new AirPods Pro solve my issue of fit (maybe I have weird ears?) I will skip them.
