I've flown on 5 flights since getting the pros 2 and the difference in ANC is insane. Also used on the London underground is significantly better at drowning out the train screeches. THANK YOU for addressing the "noise cancelling" vs "sound reduction" discrepancy that so many media outlets have totally missed. It is legitimately dangerous to recommend using non-NRR/SNR rated devices as hearing protection. As someone who went to a loud concert without proper protection and now suffers from mild tinnitus, I do not wish it on anyone, so seriously thank you again and if there is a way to support you financially (i.e. Patreon, Floatplane, etc.) I'm here for it :D

People already have used them in concerts and it works perfectly fine, sure they aren’t meant for it but airpods pro were made to last and be that, its the same way some use transparency mode on them as hearing aids instead of actual prescriptions, however that transparency feature makes alot of sense i just dont think they should only be used as a source of protection especially with some people using them with firearms, that is straight up stupid whether it be software issues so far they aren’t optimised and i’ve noticed how easily it can bug out, however it’s better than nothing

I finally took the plunge 2 months ago and purchased a set of Air Pods Pro's, once i got used to all of the settings features and controls, it went from "Phone Wallet Keys" to "Phone Wallet Keys AirPods", could not leave home without them, I'm 56, I grew up on 70s and 80s music, going back and revisiting old songs I liked in my youth, I heard sound and instruments I'd never heard before, amazing, then low and behold, Air Pods Pro 2 came out a month after i got my APP1s and after reading reviews on the APP2s, I had to devise a plan to justify spending another $250 on the APP2s, so I gave them to my boy and got myself the APP2s, very impressed with the sound quality improvements, I suggest to those old as I am, get you some APP2s and go back and listen to songs you used to listen to on you car stereo, cassette player, shoulder mounted boom box, LOL, just set back, pour a drink and listen and and smile at the new discoveries.

Something I noticed you kinda missed about the APP2 is that they have a specific setting (that requires some decent digging through the settings and accommodations to be fair.) But anyways, you can take an Audiograph test (I think that’s what it’s called.) It’s basically a hearing test to see how well/poor your hearing is at certain frequencies. AND you can actually use that data to change how your AirPods will sound, designed specifically to that test you just took. I noticed a much needed improvement in the sound as I had it on “balanced” before and it would get uncomfortable to use them for anything more than 30 minutes (even when they’re on less than half volume) Some sounds would sound just a little too piercing, and well. After changing to my custom test data, these are by far the best ear buds I have ever experienced. Much better and extremely comfortable. Would *HIGHLY* recommend everyone who owns these to take the few minutes of your time to go through and do it, it is definitely a game changer. I can easily wear these 24/7 now with no eventual ear pain. Very very happy with these! Edit: if you are interested in finding out how to do this, and are unable to find out how to get to the setting, lmk and I will explain how to get to it. It really is worth the time.

So if Apple wants to, they can just remove the charging port entirely and I'd be just as content.

I’ve had my AirPods Pro first gen for about two and a half to three years, the batteries are still going strong, they’ve only recently started to die at 10-15% but the transparency mode and microphones have almost completely lost their use. I can confirm I’ve never gotten them anywhere near water or sand etc, always cleaned them and the case after using them and just taken generally good care of them. It seems like for some reason the software has just bugged or the microphones are just weird. While in noise cancelation or transparency if someone speaks, I get massive fluctuations in the sound coming out. It will go from completely deafened to way too loud up to five times a second. So disconcerting that I just have to take them out. Noise cancelation isn’t too bad and keeps most noises down but still peaks and troughs anytime a car or airplane pass by. I’m thinking of just going to the Apple Store this week to get the new ones now and hopefully the new pair don’t fail as bad as this pair.

Apple needs to stop nerfing their products with software updates, or at least allow us to choose whether or not to allow the buds getting updated. My APM now don't cancel as much noise as before and it's frustrating when you paid a lot money at first, liked it, and then after the return window's done and gone, they nerfed it, and you can't personally roll back the firmware because, well, it's Apple. Any vibration in my body (sitting in a car, walking, moving my head, talking, literally everything) would cause it to reverberate inside my ears and made it very uncomfortable. Instantly bought the 2nd gen in hopes this would be fixed-- and it is (mostly). I can sit in a vehicle and not hear every single bump in the road amplified into my ears when using ANC, I can walk in them and move my head & there's no more thumping. It's still there when walking, but greatly reduced and completely tolerable for short distances. I'll see how these hold up over time, but so far they're much better.

I just got my pro 2s. I work at a fabrication place and they are incredible for removing the sound of metal getting chucked about and the sound of air lines, normal ear plugs were really irritating my ears but these have solved my issues. Only problem now is all the magnets. Why does everything have magnets I’ve had them a day and they are covered in steel dust Lol. Next gen they definitely need to add a seal to the case to stop stuff getting inside

Would love to see these reviewed against the QC II. Lot of people talk about ANC but I wonder how the sound compares as well.
@snazzy2 жыл бұрын
Sound is better on AirPods. Not close, frankly. ANC better on the Bose but they’re also very strong pressure so if you’re easily fatigued by ANC, steer clear. Really, both are great options but I think AirPods are the better all-rounder. They’re also cheaper.

18:24 say the ANC on the AirPod Pro two still gives me just as strong as a headache as any other pair of noise canceling headphones. That artificial sound of the noise being canceled gives me such a horrible headache. I have to have these things in transparency mode to avoid any kind of headache. I can’t stand having artificial silence. Even just having noise canceling and transparency mode off still gives me a headache because it’s not allowing any outside noise in

Great video, I was on the fence about getting them. Your previous video sold me and you where absolutely right. I think your review of the first gen was the best at explaining what makes them great, especially to someone who is a little bit an audiophile himself.

Late to the party having just upgraded from basic AirPods. The transparency made is amazing, literally a game changer for me and I love it. The ANC is very impressive but a little weird at times - its winter here in the UK so the roads are wet and walking along you can distinctly hear the 'hiss' of car tyres as they go by. Very little else gets through, I live on the coast where unpredictable waves are perfectly suppressed, general noises drop away to insignificant levels and I can enjoy my music but those car tyre sounds are very noticeable.

Awesome review. The call quality cons you mentioned are quite a bummer. Is it really that bad? Part of me justifying getting these was to sound better on calls than when using my camera mic / Macbook Air mic.

No matter how many reviews I’ve seen on a product, I will always watch yours. The presentation of new details and a script that is truly entertaining always keeps me in anticipation for your take on a new product. Thanks for cutting through the nonsense of conventional reviews where predictably the spec sheet and product page are always read from

17:36 I really thought you were gonna say it got worse lol. I really like ANC on the new AirPods. I actually really like the adaptive noise control. It’s almost like magic when I’m vacuuming and it just starts to slowly lower the noise and I never have to increase my volume despite the vacuum.

Sorry dude, that was an electric crane, not a diesel crane. Possibly it was being powered by a huge diesel generator ? Normally they are hooked to the power grid though. Nice comparison though, I have Gen 1’s, I don’t use them as much as some people really, so the battery issue isn’t so much of a thing for me and the difference in price was enough right now for me to get them, honestly I love them and don’t think I’ll upgrade anytime soon. Walmart will sell you a three year protection plan that trumps that whole 2 year battery thing you mentioned, for 23 dollars, I was all over that for that price. Edit; you make good videos, I easily watched it from start to end, that’s worth a sub for me, good comparison info. I’ll remember it.

I have them and I can hear a lot of things, even conversations, when using the ANC. For example in a coffee shop. I'm not impressed by them. I just guess they're better than others -I've never used ANC on any other device before-. Is this normal?

One thing Quinn didn't mention in this video was the new Extra Small ear tips. I had the first gen AirPods Pro and I could never get them to fit properly. Neither the Small, Medium or Large tips would properly fit my earholes (which meant the noice cancellation feature was worthless for me). I could never get them to pass the "seal test". And none of the tips were comfortable. Ultimately I gave up on them altogether and sold them. When I read the second gen AirPods Pro came with a 4th size of tips (Extra Small), I thought I'd get a pair and try them. The XS tips made all the difference for me! The AirPods Pro actually fit me now! And they sound amazing. The noise cancellation is fantastic. I love 'em.

Hey Quinn, love your videos! I wanted to share my experience with the Airpods Pro 2's Adaptive Transparency mode. I went to a concert for the first time in my life (Harry Styles in Austin TX) and it was a LOUD stadium show. I decided to test the dynamic noise reduction effects during the performance, and it was UNBELIEVABLE. It took what was otherwise a painfully loud stadium and made it downright pleasant to listen to, setting everything snugly below 85db. I was blown away by the preservation of detail while still managing to bring everything down to a listenable level. I can't imagine going to another concert without these in my pocket. I just wanted to share my experience since you seemed somewhat underwhelmed by the Adaptive Transparency mode's overall effectiveness. Thanks for a wonderful video!

17:00 That is 100% incorrect to say that noise cancelling was designed to improve listening experience. The first ever commercially available active noise cancelling headphone was Bose aviation headset… designed specifically to reduce the loud sound from plane’s engine for pilots. It was designed as noise reduction technology from the very beginning. Bose Aviation headset with active noise cancelling was introduced in 1989… that’s over a decade before the technology found its way into consumer’s headphones.

I bought AirPods Pro 2 and then watched the reviews to make sure what I was discovering and experiencing wasn’t my imagination. They are more than noticeably better than the first Pro models. I’d add the connectivity is way snappier, and the “button” feel on the stem has a more defined feel when clicking. I’ve also noticed they remain in my ears where the previous generation would fall out at certain head angles. I don’t know what contributes to this-mild shaping difference or ear trip texture? All in all I’m quite happy with these and the surprising, unexpected sound quality.

I’m thinking about buying these, mainly to use inside my motorcycle helmet to cut down the noise and so I can listen to some music quietly while I ride. I still want to be able to hear what’s going on with my engine and other vehicles so just quiet background music. Do you think the noise cancelling will be sufficient for that purpose? I have a good quality helmet that already cuts down the sound but I still need to wear ear plugs. Just wondering if these will be a sufficient alternative.

Im not a big fan of ear tip ear buds so I was hesitant to ever buy or try the air pod pro 1. Ive been using AirPods 2 for 3 years now and just upgraded to the pro 2s. Still getting used to the ear tips and will try the fitment feature (already dropped down to small). Other than that, I love the ANC and use it daily now. I work in a noisy dealership and right next to the detail section where the pressure washer and vacuum are constantly running. Huge quality of work life improvement. My guys might not be a big fan me using ANC as I usually can't hear them and have to pause to deactivate when they have a question. Lastly, on my AirPods 2 case I stuck an AirTag to the side just so I can find them when I misplace them. The whole reason I never bought the 3s was because they didn't add the U1 chip to the case. Once they announced the feature on the Pros 2, I knew I would be upgrading for sure.

When I got my Air Pods Pro 1, I was surprised that their ANC was significantly better than my Bose QC35. Possibly due to my glasses compromising the earcup seals, but there's no workaround for that, so for me the improvement was real. The ANC on the Air Pods 2 is also significantly better than the Air Pods Pro 1, surprisingly so. The thumping was also solved for me too. However, there's significantly more noise conducting when I breath in through my nose, so it's not a pure win in that regard. Still, I'll take the nose noise over the thumping. As for the new touch controls, well, I'm always hesitant to use them, because it doesn't take much to knock them out of your ears, so I often feel like I have to push on them after touching to ensure they're fully inserted.

After much debate I purchase the AirPods Pro 2. I listen to music on them and compared them with my AirPods Pro 1. I found the difference between the two very subtle. The difference to me, does not justify their cost and purchase. I am returning them today and getting my refund of $271 (tax added to their cost). AirPods 2 are good but not much different than my AirPods Pro 1. I did like how they stuck to my Apple watch charger and how they made a sound when paired, and several other things, but not enough for me to keep them.

Im not sure if mine are defective but I find the noise cancellation to be very underwhelming. I feel like it cancels maybe at most 15% or a noise. I can still hear and understand what someone is saying standing 10 ft away from me. Should I take these back? Do you think there’s something wrong with them? I can’t tell because I didn’t own the first gen of pros and I’m also coming from using regularly a pro max which has the best noise canceling I have ever experienced. Not sure if that’s part of my issue, maybe my expectations from noise canceling are now so high due to the AirPod Pros max and nothing else will every make me think they are good. Please let me know what you think
