@@felixkrell890 I don't know what would constitute good value for money to you, but I use the Model 1 series speakers with an SVC SB2000. Because I had issues with ground loop interference I used a FiiO D3 to take the optical output from my computer to analog, which passes through the subwoofer to the speakers. All in all, it sounds amazing and I've had no desire to seek out further upgrades. The only thing I could possibly wish for is rear speakers, but it's not really practical in this room.

@@elliespohr Amazing - I actually bought an svs sub, and have a problem with the a100. It hisses a lot when using any other source than USB that goes out from my speakers directly to the sub. I would lile to have more control over the bass and also for my PC to recognize it as Speakers+Sub. My question would be - if I replicate your setup, will this be possible? How exactly did you connect the speakers AND the sub to your pc in order to make everything work together? I am really interested!

This Is a near field versus. It's normal that the a100 seems better. Actually fits better. But for a big room/living room, the a300 it's a better option for sure.

I agree, the a300 has the sub-bass region that the a100 doesn't have. Also the bigger feel of the sound. I would eq up around 70-100 Hz on the a300 a little and it would beat the a100.

Is there a way you just record the same exact songs in that exact room/recording config and just test each speaker? This way you can do more than just A/B comparisons. You'd be able to compare any and all of your speakers.

Wow, the A100's are *way* more lively than the A300's -- which is really surprising. I imagine the A300's are less fatiguing in a long listening session but what they give up in tempo makes this one not even close, and in the "wrong" direction.

Hi Digital Stefeophony. First of all thank you for your amazing reviews of various speakers, I watched them almost all. I have one question to you and would be very thankful if you could answer. What would you prefer for a living room usage next to your TV - Airpulse A100 or Airpulse A200 for listening music and watching TV and movies as well. I know that you prefer A100 sound but my room is 24 square meter and the distance to Speakers would be approximately 2-3 meters. So my concern is that A100 could be too small for living room setting. As you have listened to both of those models what would be your preference in a small living room setting?

so they're both great but the a300 puts spatial clarity around different frequency ranges. The A100 seems more interesting cuz of the midbass bloat but the A300 is cleaner and flat through the 80-300 hz range. 1:04 in the first track the acoustic bass notes and tone are more clearly defined in a busy track. A100 blends the bass and drums together.

A300 has a wider range. The A100 sound stops at lower mids as if hitting a concrete floor (listening through a tube amp and floor standing speakers).

To my ears via ATH AD2000X open back headphone: A100 is having the edge on music imaging and clarity. A300 has a slight edge of dynamic punch. I suspect the slight muddling of some tracks on A300 is due to its sensitivity as with any higher end units. Need in person testing for final verdict. But both unit bass loose out to S3000.

I would like to know, how do you place you recorder/mic. If its always in one place, then i guess that the tweeter of A300 will be higher, because of the size, right? That will lead to sound difference...

It is not really clear due to camera position, but A300 was angled downward to compensate for the difference in height during recording

even if the position of the both speakers are a bit different, the mic will still capture the treble sound because it is a ribbon horn tweeter unlike dome tweeters w/c is directional, horn tweeters produces wider field. So I think it has nothing to do w/ that position differences. :) Just my observation on horn tweeters :)

Does a100 play much better than a80? the power is the same, only they are slightly smaller and less than the bass speaker by half an inch, does this greatly affect the frequencies? And at the top they have the same + - or is a100 also better at the top?

These are studio monitors meant for professional music producers and not home, living, bedroom use, right?

No, these are home speakers. The have Bluetooth APT X (not HD), as well as an optical, PC/Aux (1 each) and USB port. You can change slightly the bass and treble via the back of the speakers, as well as the sound levels. They do come with a remote. The Airpulse a100 remote isn't my favourite, it is a little small and also used with some of the Edifier speakers. I think the a300 remote is slightly nicer. They are active speakers, so don't need an amp. I believe with the a100 and a300, you have to connect the speakers via cable. I own the a100 and for a small to medium size room they are excellent for music. I also have it connected to the TV, which generally works well but is a little quieter (not sure if that is the TV). Airpulse have released the a300 Pro which is meant to sound better than the a300 and you can connect the speakers wirelessly to each other but they are more expensive.

I want to upgrade from s2000pro to a100. The clarity of a100 is from another planet. Why a300 doesn’t have that clarity!! Weird. Even base is cleaner with a100. So a100 + subwoofer is a professional studio at home!

I want to upgrade from the Edifier R1850DB to a A100. I have a Creative GigaWorks T3 SLAM Subwoofer from the old 2.1 system. The sub box itself has three, 6" bass drivers inside. the Edifier R1850DB sounds fantastic with it now, so I can't even imagine how good the A100 with the T3 SLAM sub will sound!

@@dmtkr вот скажите мне зачем ставить на себе эксперименты с эдифаер? вы 100% уверены, что вам не попадется брак и пойдете в компьютерный СЦ доказывать, что одна колонка играет тише на 10дб? или подобные музыкальные изъяны? если покажите, что система не включится, то на "обследование возьмут". брак везде есть, но столько жалоб на эд учитывая очень узкий сегмент сбыта(ММ для компьютера+габариты+одноклассники на 30% дешевле). даже Украинский канал перестал их пиарить..... а так А100 по характеру звучания мне понравился. возможно если бы сам не попал на "небрак" и плюнул на цену и не читал интернет отношение к эд было бы чуть лучше. у китайцев цена ничего не значит, не качество, не реальную стоимость.

У a100 акцент на высоких, у а300 звучание более сбалансированное. а100 могут играть неплох стоя на столе возле слушателя и на небольшой громкости, а 300 же наполнят звуком комнату

а где уверенность, что разница в звуке НЕ из-за разного размера. Твитер выше у А300 по отношению к рекордеру/микрофону. А вообще, мы ж не знаем как там автор устанавливает микрофон... Вот с KEF не было бы проблем, т.к там твитер вместе со ср. частотным динамиком.

smth really wrong right here. Positioning are very incorect for A300. A100 sounds better cause they smaller and have good position where A300 should be a bit far and and wider from each other and look directly to the microphone. Dirty comparison.
