I could watch this video over and over. I remember my first flight on the L-1011 was for my second job interview from Los Angeles to Atlanta on a company business pass, first class back in 1982. Nowadays it is difficult to fly domestically and be boarded in First Class. Thanks for the memories by posting this video.

AGREED! Although I also LOVED the Ron Allen livery and hoped they’d at least paint one of their L-10’s in that livery. I couldn’t stand the Defiant Child or “Deltaflot” livery. IMHO that was THE WORST livery for the company ever.

I remember, when Delta came to Munich with TriStar. Also LTU had one dozen. This aircraft was years ahead his competitors. R.I.P. L1011.

The L-1011 TriStar was a great plane to fly on. Flew on them a few times with several airlines, 1978 Eastern MCO-ATL, 1985 TWA SLC-DEN-SLC, 1991 Delta SLC-LAX-HNL-LAX-SLC and 1993 Delta SLC-SAN-HNL-LAX-SLC. That engine growl on start and takeoff is great then the smooth flight!

Great video, boy do I miss them alot. LAX was a great place for Tristar watching and ATL was just Tristar heaven! GREAT Video!

This livery looked SO GOOD on ALL of their aircraft! I especially loved it on the MD-11, 762 and 752’s they used. Sigh….I wished they’d have a couple a/c in their fleet repainted in this livery!!

The L-1011 TriStar was the flagship of Delta's fleet for three decades, the brightest star on its skyways, so to speak.

My first jumbo jet ride was on a Delta L-1011, on the Gov't's nickel for my work (I was a US DoD employee.) It was from Miami to Atlanta and it was a very bumpy ride, one of the roughest I was ever on with lightening near by and a delay landing until a thunderstorm passed Atlanta airport. On board where about 70 nuns who were returning from some conference in Miami. As the flight got rougher, out came the beads. The passenger next to me was panicking "We're gonna die, we're gonna die!" I was familiar with turbulence but had been in rougher. I responded that the good Lord wasn't about to let 70 nuns go down.

Delta Airlines Lockheed L-1011s had flown since the seventies, eighties, nineties and the early millennium and it was right before they retired back in 2001.
