After about a year of owning my arp 556 2.0, I decided to step foot into upgrading its components. Before I mess with the gearbox, I went with other easier upgrades and now I’m stepping foot into the gearbox. This video helped me understand gears in general and their function. Thank you for making it simple for me to understand. I liked that you demonstrated with the drill in the beginning when explaining the 18:1 gears.

If you are having desoldering issues switch to an xt60,handles heat much easier since it uses solder cups in stead of tabs like a deans. They are also rated for higher amps.

I am still using the same SHS 32:1 gearset I got in 2019. Running slow cycle has reduced stress on my other parts like the motor, MOSFET and battery. I think I am running 32:1 forever for my personal units.

If you're running anything other than a DMR, and you're concerned about excess motor heat, id suggest stepping back down to 18:1 but looking into getting a brushless motor, like one from Warhead Industries. They're a little pricey, but they're absolutely worth it

Do I need to upgrade the bearings or swap out the gear pads (re-shim)? I am new to airsoft and I've seen a lot of people talking about this online. Can I just buy a set of 13:1 gears, drop them in and be done with it?

DOG'S break because in order to get a decent fps out of them you need an m170+ spring. The velocity of a heavy spring is faster than a standard spring( that's why you also need a heavy tappet spring) moving that fast and strong cracks gearboxes

Is not a good idea to use a m100 spring with a high rpm/high speed setup with a 11.1v lipo, it will give you over cycling and premature wear on the piston and gears.

Early on in the video he mentions that this won't alter FPS, then at 16:45 in the video he said; "from 1,000 FPS to 2,000FPS". Wow that's an amazing FPS gain from a motor & gear set change!!!

I want to see more on torque builds. Hight torque motors with 32:1 gears.
@billmaragos2812
@billmaragos2812 Жыл бұрын
32:1 gears are going to drop the speed in rate of fire, since the motor would need to rotate 32 times instead of the standard 18, or the upgraded 12 or 13 like on this video. However, higher ratios (like 32:1) allow for harder springs to be pulled more easily, even by not so torqey motors. So for say an LMG where you need both higher fps than standard Assault rifles, and a high rate of fire, you would be well off with a higher ratio and a motor that is rather fast than torqey. On the other hand, there are brushless motors (e.g. Warhead Industries) that offer both high torque and high speeds, so by using that you would not need such a very high ratio like 32:1 to pull the harder (say 400fps@.2g) spring.
@Vesper-
@Vesper- 7 ай бұрын
32:1 gear ratio with a high torque motor, I think that in order to make use of such setup you'd need to have a spring so strong it would probably crack the gearbox in half lmao

@Raz_Tactical Жыл бұрын
hPa does not make sense to me. It's expensive to build, you gotta deal with the bottle and hose which looks stupid and also it's another cost every time you want to play to refill the bottle. Never mind having to find a place that will refill them. In comparison a new gears and some shims will cost less than a bottle for hPa setup with performance being similar. Airsoft guns already shoot faster than their real steel counterparts so there's no need for higher rps which really is the only benefit of hpa over AEG and even then a DSG build can achieve similar with less cost.

Been playing airsoft for around 15 years. Polarstar is great. But not having to lug around a tank as you get older and get the same results is really great.
@Raz_Tactical
@Raz_Tactical Жыл бұрын
@@DudaZachary the few times I shoot hPa i thought "yeah that's kinda cool" but nothing more, didn't feel like I would have advantage over my AEG or at least not enough to justify the extra cost and effort and definitely did not feel like it had advantage over any of my dsg builds
