FYI - orient express is my all time favorite coaster. It is not nearly as rough as people made it out to be! No more head banging than the average arrow but *so* much more thrilling than any other arrow I’ve ridden. The drops were insane

I didn't expect this list to be filled with suspended coasters. They do hold up better than most Arrows since the swinging helps with the janky track profiling.

Orient express was amazing... Only got rough its final years. Was my first 'big' coaster and still one of my all time favorites as I would marathon it with my friends. It has the first ever bat wing called komokazi curve. Patriot is only partly on the old lot the first drop and the interlocking loops where more towards the main gate today and was a great sight to what used to be the back gate. I miss it and would say it's better than most the arrow looper still open I've rode.

With Eagle's Fortress, because Arrow built this in the mountains, it was hard for the maintenance team to try to work on the ride during the offseasons, and yes, it was too forceful for the track to handle.

Nice list. Was surprised how many of these I've ridden. When Steel Phantom, The Vortex (KI), and Shockwave (GA) first opened, I remember the concepts just blowing our feeble 80's-era minds. I loved them all back in early days. Being the time it was, I never really had the expectation rollercoasters would run smoothly or gracefully. We just didn't expect that back then because most honestly weren't. I remember Steel Phantom would require people to take dangling earrings out because the ride was so rough. We just laughed it off and considered it a "badge of honor" to have endured the pain. I was young then. I don't feel that way now. I'm very skeptical of Arrows now that I'm in my 40s.

I recall and loved both Vortex and the original Bat. Top Gun "pseudo-Bat" is okay. KI was my nearest park growing up. Marathoned the Screamin' Demon 35 times one day- I was young enough to take those stairs with enough speed to be on every other launch. Just thinking about it tires me out now.

In the UK we have an Arrow Suspended Coaster with Vekoma SLC Trains called The Vampire. Its not very tall but somehow is the tallest in the park. A back row night ride is so cool as it is like the Big Bad Wolf tuned down. The forest setting is so cool and the only part you see any other part of the park is the second drop over the Wild Woods area

I was never tall enough to ride Shockwave before it closed, but judging by the horror stories I heard about its roughness, I probably would be clamoring for its closure if it were still operating. Wizzer was my first major roller coaster, and it's aged far better over the years than Shockwave ever could.

I love Arrow coasters. I was born in the 80s so Arrow coasters dominated my childhood and still stand as the default image in my mind when I think of coasters. Yes, they weren't all very smooth but they paved the way and in their first few decades did so without computer modeling. And what they did with the technology of their day is more impressive than any other manufacturer by far. Giving B&M and Intamin credit for being awesome is understandable but it should always been done while keeping in mind that most everything they did was following in Arrow's foot steps and just adjusting the details.

I've been an Arrow fanboy since the beginning (if you can't tell by my pro pic), Big Bad Wolf was my first coaster. Totally agree man. Hopefully with fans making more content about these older steel coasters they will finally start to earn some well deserved respect. I grew up 15 minutes away from Shockwave and losing that beautiful looking, insanely intense coaster in 2002 to a bland flying clone still pisses me off. So I'm also desperately hoping Viper sticks around as the last of the Megaloopers. I really think ACE could give Viper "Landmark" status which would obligate Magic Mountain to keep it around longer and as the last of it's kind it certainly has historical significance.

Some other bits of trivia. There is still one Arrow ride similar to Wacky Soap Box Racers you can still ride, and it's Steeplechase at England's Blackpool Pleasure Beach. Also at the very same park, you have Revolution, the only Arrow shuttle loop to remain in its original location. Even Sidewinder at Elitch Gardens was relocated, but in that case, it was relocated from the original Elitch Gardens, thus making it the only coaster from the original Elitch Gardens to survive.

Great American scream machine was only an honorable mention? That coaster was the biggest thing to happen in the late 80’s early 90’s in the NY tri-state area! That coaster put Six Flags Great Adventure on the map! Was so upset about its removal! SFGA should’ve worked on it the way SFMM does Viper. Green lantern is good but the arrow jankiness gives a coaster the fear factor!

Yes! Great American Scream Machine actually saved Great Adventure back when it opened. The park was struggling severely and ALMOST closed during the late 80s early 90s, but they took a huge gamble in building Scream Machine to try and boost park attendance. It worked. @@greglugo6417 yes! So ultra Twister and lighting loops was a little before my time, but SFGA was one of my home parks beacuse I'm located in Philly region, all my life. I remember seeing Great American Scream Machine and was like, now that's a coaster! The giant red bulky Machine towering above the parking lot! The screaming sounds of its breaks and the slight smell of oil and WD40 as you rolled onto the chain lift really made you feel like you where on a rusty bulky machine. And of course that first loop! Shooting stright up in the air and that quick loop at the top. Not to mention the batwing where you felt like you where gonna stall out on! That ride will have such a special place in my heart.

I had a chance at Eagle's Fortress on its last season when I was really young, and I can say from how I remember coasters since then, that it lived up to the hype. Imagine the violent back car swing on Vortex, except for the whole ride, the feeling that it just keeps getting faster because of how much of its layout went downhill, and crazy near misses. Atleast its replacement T-Express is amazing enough. But still a shame its gone.

So my feelings about Drachen Fire are... complicated. Objectively you could argue it was the worst coaster I've ever ridden, but it was also the first one I ever (sort of) marathoned, riding it three times back to back, and I found it really thrilling. But it also beat me up pretty badly and I was sore for a while after. So for a while I considered it my favorite coaster, but it also put me off big coasters for years, because I kind of thought all big new coasters would be that rough, and I had to be in a superhero mood to take that. So... do I miss it? Uh... It was actually a fun ride, but I probably wouldn't ride it now. I'm old. It might permanently damage me. Big Bad Wolf, on the other hand, was just a pure classic. It was the first coaster I ever really loved. I think it was the introduction to full-sized coasters for a lot of kids. That second lift and drop much larger than the first one gives it an amazing finale.

Vortex at KI should be #1. When they abruptly announced it would be closing, the park was packed the last 2 weeks of the season when the park is usually quiet. There doesn’t seem to be a replacement planned anytime soon. Maybe the urban legend that it was built on a sink hole was true after all.

I really thought it would be a great addition after they renamed Kings Island second arrow suspended coaster back to the bat to pay homage to the original. If they also gave the trains the original look of the original bat ride.. But that being said I'm glad that they did change the name that was cool but I just think to just top it off if they also did you know the original bat design train cars that would be badass..

My one and only ride on Titan at Space World was taken during a light rain. Despite the slick tracks, the ride didn't offer much in terms of airtime. The middle section reminded me of the strange mid section on Anaconda at Kings Dominion.

Shockwave at SFGAm was the first big coaster I ever rode. It turned me into the enthusiast I am today. Granted it was painful as hell, but it was so pretty to look at!

I vaguely remember riding the original Bat as a kid. I remember my first ride on Vortex well. Arrow loopers are works of art, even if the ride experience hasn't aged well.

Hey man I love your videos, I do have a video idea. It would be cool to see you make a new park by choosing a roller coaster and flat ride from each six flags park, and then do one on cedar fair

Black widow at SFNE was way way more intense than any other shuttle loop over ridden. I’m not sure why, but it was great

Based on how amazing Big Bad Wolf looked I would’ve put it just a few spots higher. Maybe number 2. But other than that I agree with this list. I wish I could have ridden Vortex but oh well. I’ve ridden an arrow looper before. Tennessee Tornado at Dollywood and I thought it was awesome.

I've ridden 7 defunct Arrows. Here's my list: 1. Steel Phantom (Kennywood) 2. Drachen Fire (BGW) 3. Vortex (King's Island) 4. Big Bad Wolf (BGW) 5. Double Loop (Geauga Lake) 6. Wabash Cannonball (Opryland) 7. Rock 'n Roller Coaster (Opryland) BTW, I've ridden Viper at SFMM so I have an idea of what Shockwave and GASM were like.

I’ve been on 14 defunct coasters but out of this list of Arrows only 2 (BB Wolf and D Fire) I remember loving the Wolf growing up but Drachen Fire was rough as all hell 😬 Also, thrilled to hear the word “YONKED” come up in commentary again haha

YO seeing the dragon from Ocean Park as the first coaster in this video was so dope, it also happens to be the first arrow looper with a sidewinder which is cool but it was rough as balls for as long as I remember

My only credit on this list is Afterburner from Funspot Indiana, the shuttle loop model is underrated. That thing used to give killer rides. On a slow day you didn't even have to get out of the trains and they'd just run you in it till you got off or other riders showed up.

The only fun Arrow Dynamics coaster I’ve ridden is Loch Ness Monster. Corkscrew and Magnum at Cedar Point both injured me to varying degrees. Also, when you were talking about Soap Box Racers, you said it closed in 1896. About a century too early there 🤣

I still think Vortex should have been number one, swinging coasters are nice, but they've got inherent limitations because of the swinging (kind of like how stand-up coasters had to have less force due to the riding position [I've not actually seen this confirmed anywherr, it just makes sense, and they do feel less forceful])
