This is a fantastic life extension for early Cirrus models! I saw these and was very impressed.

"We made the new PFD/MFD mostly compatible with old sensors and wiring to ease the transition but we also made the screens taller to make the transition harder". Avidyne giveth, avidyne taketh. Also what up with not supporting Garmin navigators? Do you expect me to buy in the entire ecosystem all at once?

Garmin path is pricey, but new servos with GFC500 are huge included upgrade option. Avidyne was not only late to the party with an upgrade path, waiting for Garmin to force their hand, but they did nothing to up the ante.

Need to be much bigger. In what universe is 12.5" a big display? because it's not this one :) 20,24 or even bigger. Basically one wide display per seat. Two screens spanning the width of the cockpit. They are much much too rooted in legacy thinking. Google the first powered cars. They were designed like horsedrawn carriages and that is an absolute failure of engineering. When intelligent design would be a closed aerodynamic body. 12.5grand per 12" display... Jesus

12.5" is still bigger compared to the 10" screens they're replacing. There's no way you're gonna fit a pair of 24" in a Cirrus, that's 42 inches width just in the screens, in a plane that's only 49 inches at its widest point inside. Even the airliners don't go past 15" screens.

@@linuxbot3000 try to free yourself from being an unquestioning product of status quo. Of course some existing plane designs can't just fit any size display but they can handle much bigger than now and with for instance a 24" product then planes will design around that. And certainly airliners can handle vastly bigger than 24. Not that they really need it, you can just place the screen relatively close. Another thing wrong with airliners is the ocean of bottoms, it's en entire wall and in teh ceiling. It's so crude and primitive. That's something to be destroyed with extreme prejudice, not cherished. Dare to think Tesla. Just one big display and almost nothing else. Also very elegant control, either a small joystick without pedals or a small high tech stylish yoke style control. It can be much smaller than the historic titanic steering wheel. Tall stick and all that motion, so repulsively primitive. It can be so vastly cleaner. Dare to imagine. Always think from scratch, never be a product of status quo.

@@DanFrederiksen why would you want a wider plane just to fit a wider screen? It doesn't help the pilot and it hurts aero.
@DanFrederiksen3 жыл бұрын
@@linuxbot3000 not a wider plane, rearrange seating position perhaps or dash placement or merely change the dash edge.

@@DanFrederiksen so longer plane or waste more of the front of the cabin instead?
