Thank you for posting this, I so miss my truck & my old life. I spent decades pulling triples & quads. Perth out to our remote mines in Western Australia, & the very best truck by far that I ever had was the long chassis KW T904, 170 ton rated, Cat C16, 22 series Roadranger, steel on spiders on 6 rod suspension, walk in sleeper etc. It was the most rugged & robust truck I ever knew, & full desert spec. I did over 5 million with this truck & it never failed to get me home again. In the 1970s, when I started out with a Mack R600, I used to sleep in a swag under the lead trailer, now look at what they have become. I am in final stage cancer now, but tough as it was, given the chance I would change nothing & do it all again in a heartbeat. I just loved the outback, the lifestyle, & of course the machinery.

First of all, im so sorry. Cancer is a hell 😭 I can see why you miss your old truck and the job. Thank you for sharing your story. God bless you. ♥️ Can you help me out? @@TomasVarg Go to Wubin, 300 kms north of Perth. Triples (53.5 mts) cannot be pulled out of Perth. The triple hook up area for the inland highway is at Wubin, so you pull 2 & a "dog runner" takes your 3rd, & someone else's 3rd there, where you hook up full length & can go anywhere at 53.5 after that. Contact Bishop's Transport, Triton Transport, Lees Transport etc. etc., tell them what you want to do & they might just help you by giving you access, transport stage to stage etc. Start at Wubin, go to Mt Magnet, go to Meekathara etc. They have trucks in both directions all the time, & top rigs too. From Mt Newman you can go straight to Port Hedland, 1650 kms, or off to Tom Price, etc or, from Newman (Capricorn Roadhouse) you can instead go up the Nullagine road (unsealed) to Marble Bar & out into the Great Sandy Desert to mines, Telfer, Woody Woody, Nifty. You cannot go onto any mine site, but you can wait at the security gate for your driver to return. Talk to people, you will find them helpful. If you are in Perth, go to the BP on Kewdale rd in Kewdale, which is the transport hub. All trucks fuel up at BP Kewdale. Pity our timing is a bit out, all of my trips were deep desert epics, & I would have taken you. Good luck Tomas.

@TomasVarg Tomas, when visiting Shaws depot in Darwin I was told that William Shaw emigrated to Australia from UK in the '70s with very little apart from a driving licence. He started by driving other companies vans, bought his first Kenworth prime mover in 1981 and expanded from there over many years. In 2018 he still had a great interest in his company after transferring the majority to his long-standing staff but had moved back to the place of his roots, York, UK. There's a picture on Shaw's website of William Shaw with his first cabover Kenworth. Colin

If a triple road train travelling at 100kp/h's & a light vehicle wishes to overtake travelling at 110 kph, it will take the light vehicle close to 70 seconds to overtake at 110kp/h.It's a lot safer for me to overtake a triple road train with me travelling at 130kp/hthen resume the cruise control back to 110kp/h. It'll take a while to be allowed to drive one of these. There are a few different licence classes in Australia for different trucks, given by the following: Class C: Car, anything less than 5.5t (metric tonnes) Class LR: Light rigid, less than 8t Class MR: Medium rigid, over 8t, only 2 axles Class HR: Heavy rigid, over 8t, more then 2 axels Class HC: Heavy combination, prime mover with a single trailer Class MC: Multi-combination, prime mover with multiple trailers First you need your Learner class C for at least a year, before you are allowed to drive by your self on your red P's (P1 provisional licence). After a year on your red P's, you can get your green P's (P2 Provisional license), and you can get either LR or MR. If I remember correctly, a year on your LR lets you upgrade to MR or HR, A year in your MR lets you upgrade to HR or HC. Then From HC, you can go for MC. You'll also need multiple different qualifications to drive them depending on who you drive for, and how many trailers you're allowed to drive with your MC licence.

В Австралии нет большой сети железных дорог. Строить их через пустыню (большая часть центральной Австралии) сложно и очень дорого, а обслуживать ещё дороже. Дороги проще и дешевле...

Powered by the Pritchard steam unit you could put another couple of doggies on the back.Diesels were obsolete fifty years ago when emissions were imposed and since then they have become scrap iron jungles with all the junk added. Ted Pritchard designed and built the lowest emission engine in the world. Thanks to the donkeys we have for politicians the steamer did not get off the ground. I advise young people with brains and ambition to get out of this country fast. All Australians should be ashamed of what they did to that man while mug politicians threw money at overseas vehicle mfrs.. We never learn.

...part of your everyday...what? Part of your everyday, is a syntax error, it's missing a word. It should read Part of your every day. People who we think are supposed to be "professionals" who make syntax errors like that is funny.

“Part of your everyday” meaning “the usual.” It’s an Australianism. Doesn’t need a qualifier. Makes perfect sense to us. 😊
