NTA. Assuming you and she are at fairly equal levels regarding your kitchen skills, she was a bit pushy in her comments to you. But the belittling remark about king pao chicken was a deal breaker which she did to herself. Everything that came after stemmed from that one incident, so she is in the wrong and it’s so unfortunate that the consequences escalated to the degree they did. Your wife should always have your back, so kudos to her for her support. If it were me, I’d remove myself (with spouse) from the rest of the family for a bit to let emotions die down before examining how it could have been better handled. Again, NTA.
