Wait.,. There are Stay At Home Wives that make their husband's lunch every single day and leave a lovely note inside the lunch box. Yet Reddit seems to be creeped out when the husband provides his PREGNANT working wife a breakfast and coffee everyday at work? There are places where the housewife actually comes to the office for lunch to give her husband his lunch in person and that's considered a normal thingy (albeit a bit Stepford Wifey) but OP's hubby having a breakfast and drink sent to her office (which she picks up OUTSIDE the office space) is somehow "pissing on his property to mark his territory". If we want equal rights, that means gender roles will be reversed and sometimes the man will dote of his wife when she's at work. I see nothing wrong with OP. The problem is that OP should never have made that personal comment about her coworker. Now she can't act innocent in front of HR. Plus, HR is there to benefit the company and control the employees. So OP is pregnant and is about to go on maternal leave and may not return. The other coworker is single and thus isn't likely to take extra time off work. HR will side with the coworker now that OP has lowered herself to the coworker's level. OP might lose her job if she doesn't start documenting EVERYTHING and getting witnesses showing how the coworker is causing the hostile workplace.

I'm going to just say, that as a SAHW (albeit reluctant, but my tag name kids explains it) who was a chef (and did tech to pay for her second degree when she landed in a wheelchair), it does feel like pissing on your property the way it's being executed. Do I send my husband with homefood when he's in the office? Yes. But it gets sent in with his body in a manner that doesn't require him to get up and receive it everyday outside of normal lunch hours, interrupt his classes or meetings, or cause a scene. Are there notes if my fingers are capable of gripping a pen that day (or even a text if my fingers are sublaxed) and I know he's having a hard time? Yes. But not done EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. And nobody knows that he got a note, because it's literally not something that's relevant to the working environment - the only way the coworker would even know this was a daily thing is if she were told. I never decorated my cubicle or office with pictures of my kids, husband, or family members, because there's a certain amount of professionalism and privacy you need to maintain in a working environment. Romance, your marriage, and children aren't appropriate in the workplace. Frankly, I've seen enough fried keyboards and motherboards in my time from things like coffee spills, that that wouldn't be allowed on the floor I was managing (even 'in a covered container' leaves too much leeway with some people). In a spill-proof sports bottle, sure, until that gets violated. Food stays in the break room, and is consumed during lunch and breaks, unless a doctor states you need to eat more often. I have AOT1 Diabetes, and I STILL wouldn't do this. Flowers just belong at home. I would have been a bit more sympathetic if OP had of just rolled her eyes and got on with it, and let the coworker do what she was going to do or spoken to HR herself, but the second she turned the coworkers' marital status into a jab, that hit a few legal issues (and the half assed, 'oh, being single isn't a BAD THING' as a backpedal is like a bitchy cheerleader saying 'just kidding' when everyone knows they're not). THAT'S what HR is going to can her for.

My son is 7 years old now, but in my hospital's maternity class the lady REFUSED to discuss bottle feeding with me and when a father asked about his partner pumping so he could bond with baby, this lady told him he could BATH THE BABY to bond with it! She continually emphasised that they promote breastfeeding in this hospital. I was not the only person in the room who clarified that we were medically unable to breast feed, but we were still given a knitted boob and baby doll and encouraged to practice with it. As a former group leader in multiple daycares I saw more formula than breast milk provided for babies so I knew whoever thought up that maternity class was an idiot as obviously knowing how to sterilise bottles and prepare formula properly would have been an important skill to teach expectant parents as well as their partner.

I guess there’s an important lesson to be learned when you marry people that are homophobic. It will impact how your kids are raised regardless of if they’re queer or not.
@cpparkinson51094 ай бұрын
Yeah can't say that about everyone. I know a guy, was homophobic, had kids, son is gay. Father accepted that, still loves him accepts him, happy ending. Sometimes your unconditional love will override previous beliefs.... Sometimes it doesn't, and then do you really love you children..... I don't believe so.

I’m a photographer, the Karen complaining and demanding the photographer bend to her will, demand she be allowed to have her child there when there was a no minor policy, didn’t bother reading the studios packet which obviously had the terms and conditions, felt entitled to the 2 hour studio time despite only paying for 1, somehow feels that it’s the photographers fault childcare fell through and she only got 25 minutes of shooting time, never spoke to the photographer and instead made a charge back, and STILL somehow expects all the photos… yeah, she is what we call a “nightmare”. Customers like this end up black listed locally for very good reason, they threaten to sue because of their own behaviour, expect your full day despite only paying for a couple of hours, think they can demand all their money back and believe they’ll still get their photos for free, the photos which they gushed about being great on the day are now somehow “below expected quality”, and will expect every single image taken that day instead of the 20-50 best images which is what they’re actually paying for. They don’t care how much work goes into photography, they think “well anyone can do it”, they think having a small camera or phone is just as good, they think a talented photographer just has “a good camera” and not the photographer having talent, they don’t see photography as the demanding job it can easily become because of nightmare clients. I’m mass published, have a good reputation, have worked with large companies and charities, and have photographed a fair amount of celebrities, so I can afford to be very picky with my client list, the quality of my work and references speak for themselves and I don’t have to chase the work, I work with the people I want to. I’m lucky in this regard because I can avoid these nightmare situations and can actually enjoy the photography I produce instead of having to chase clients to make a bit of money to survive, and I would not change that one bit. It’s a massive reason why I won’t do weddings or family portraits, because that’s where the most entitled customers are. I’ll stick to high end clients and doing hobby photography where I’ve a half decent following online who enjoy my hobby photography. I feel so much for the photographer dealing with OP, because she used that extra hour at the studio to make up for unexpected costs so she wasn’t paying out more than she’d earn, and she got an absolute Karen.

As far as breastfeeding, for multiple reasons I had trouble with my supply after having to go back to work when my boys where born, and switched to a formula that they could handle ( history of allergies for a particular brand/ special dietary requirements). We all had more rest and happier babies after.

About breastfeeding. In very early days when there was no formula you had women who fed babies for other women who could not breastfeed or had not enough milk. So now a days we have formula. So no problem any more. Breastfeeding is a good thing if there is enough rest and help. The first weeks are not the easiest weeks of new parents. That's why in Holland we have a first week help paid by covernement.

Breast milk is best, yes, but feeding the kid, PERIOD is even better!!!!! My twins were breast fed at first because it helped get them out of the hospital faster, they were premies but after a short time I didn't make enough for two babies so we supplemented and eventually moved exclusively to formula. You do what is best for the kid, not what's popular.

I do use a private trail. The owner has not given us explicit permission (his great grandfather did 30 years ago but not him). If he asked us to stop we would. He is out of the country and has been for years. Us using it actually benefits him. Wood poachers will steal wood from properties that are clearly not being used by their owners. By us maintaining the old access trail it shows them that this area is a bad choice to poach from. So they don't. Plus, having the trail maintained increases his property value. It gives direct access to the trans Canada trail for our area and if someone ever bought the old farmstead from him having access to something like that is a big selling point. But, the thing is, if we were asked to stop we would. We maintain his property for free as an unspoken exchange, but if he did not want the service anymore I'm sure we would find and way to get to the trail. It would be a pain, but I'd probably cut another trail on my property. My trail connects to his so it's cheaper for me to maintain his property than to cut a whole new trail. But at the end of the day if he asked me to stop I would respect that because it's still his property.

Re breastfeeding story :- Recently, 12/13 years after my eldest grandson was born, I found out his mum had had a hellish time breastfeeding. He also developed terrible reflux, seconds after being b/fed , so she then had to start b/feeding again only for him to barf it all up again, and so on. If I had known then, I’d have made sure that in between each bout of breast feeding, he would be topped up with formula. Yes “breast is best” but for crying out loud, if it can help mum and baby, formula, formula,formula!!!! Well done, OP. NTA

When my mom was diagnosed with stage IV ovarian cancer when I was 13, she unfortunately lost her hair and suffered horrific chemical burns to her nose and mouth from the chemotherapy/radiation. I once offered to shave my head, saying we could be bald together. She laughed and told me no, that seeing my hair made her happy and that I didn't need to do that for her. So, I didn't shave my head and instead we got ice cream to lift our moods. I miss her every day and though she didn't win her battle, I do hope Grace has a speedy recovery and never has to deal with cancer again. : )

Baby story: Absolutely the right thing to do and get some formula for the baby. Breast milk is only good for the baby if the baby is able to drink the damn stuff and if its healthy!!!! If you are feeding every hour or 2, its not good, and it's so OK to give your baby a substitute. My sister in law was hell bent on breast feeding her son she nearly starved him. She refused to listen to mum who had had 6 kids, my sister who had had 6 kids. She finally agreed to go to the doctors and what do you know, she said give him formula and he stopped crying, so did she, he slept and so did she. Dont EVER let anyone tell you otherwise. In fact, it's the perfect extra gift with a cute bottle for new mums as a 'just in case you need it' pressy. Not everybody can breast feed, and not every body wants to, but one thing you can guarantee, if youre stressed, the baby will be, and then you will be because the baby is, and your milk will be shit!!! It's a vicious circle. Oh, and the best part of bottle feeding, is dad and other people get to feed the baby and love on them as well...and please dont beat yourself up if you cant.

The mother of the 5 year old who wanted to be a unicorn - you go little guy, be a unicorn! You cannot TURN someone gay (nor can you turn them straight)! When my son was that age he LOVED dressing up, and, as he shared a dressing-up box with his sister, his favourite was dressing up as a princess with the pink, sparkly feather boa! But now he’s an adult, very “manly” man, about as straight as he could be (frankly, I would love him, irregardless), climbs, rows, martial arts etc. …. And his favourite colour is purple, which is just a colour!

Breastfeeding is great for saving money and good nutrition for the baby. If the baby can’t latch just pump and put it in a bottle. If milk doesn’t come in then just use formula. There are options to buy breast milk if it’s that important but I was a formula baby because I was only 4 pounds when I was born and my mouth was too small to fit around a nipple. I turned out just fine Also, I used to paint my little cousins nails, now he’s a teen and is straight and is a “manly-man”. Kids don’t pay attention to gender rules unless it’s pushed on them
@pansprayers2 жыл бұрын
Or, just do what works best for you. People shouldn't have an opinion on just how long another woman has to feel like a failure (if at all). There's no, do this, do that, then formula - it's more complicated than that, and unless you're the mother and the pediatrician, you literally don't have an opinion.
