I bet the lying girl is an only child to a single parent that has never told the girl no and gives her everything she wants. Parents need to stay out of their kids relationships unless the relationships are abusive. Even in those instances you just need to be there for their child not tell them you can't see the person. In the second one I think kat felt Kurt because her friend didn’t invite her but other people. It happens very often that when a kid gets popular they dump their friends and only hang with the popular kids. Still the whole manipulation fake bullying was not ok. But we don’t know how she is really bullying or not if we don’t see them at school.

I would say ESH. It’s obviously bad to lie if Kat said mean things too. But being unpopular can be so much more painful than adults make it out to be. It’s likely OP’s daughter was Kat’s only friend. From OP’s perspective, her daughter and Kat simply drifted apart. It might not have gone down like that. As a mother, OP can’t see what goes on at school and only has her daughter’s word. It could be that the popular girls took notice of OP’s daughter, and her daughter started ignoring Kat on purpose to avoid embarrassment from the popular kids. To be honest, I’m betting my money that OP’s daughter saw her chance to be “cool” and ditched Kat, rather than them naturally drifting apart.

My family is kinda mean in a fun way. We are mostly just mean to each other 😂.My 73 year old Dad and I recently went on a road trip together and he told me on our 7 hour drive that he was so proud that he raised such mean girls 😂.
