Couldn’t disagree with Simon and Spencer more. Idealists would say yes go straight back in with Dubois and get your bragging rights back. That totally ignores the fact DDD is a 27 year-old, metabolic prime power puncher riding the crest of a wave after 3 big wins. He’s what AJ was the day after the Klitschko win. He is simply dangerous right now. AJ on the other hand is a 35 year-old brand with questionable punch resistance. Fights are not won and lost on paper. A realist who actually knows boxing would advise AJ to rebuild against his contemporaries. And he has options. Mid to late-30s fighters who remain big names, who he has genuine beef with, and who he can milk what remains of his commercial value by fighting. Those are Fury, Wilder, Whyte III, Ruiz Jr III. Maybe Joyce. AJ can claim he already beat Parker when he was world champion but ultimately Parker wasn’t the same fighter back then. Nevertheless I wouldn’t rule that fight out either. But that’s it! AJ is a confidence fighter. We only ever see him at his best when he’s confident. Sign a 2-fight deal: walk through Whyte or Joyce first and then fight Wilder for clout before Deontay retires. Come through those fights and the Fury bout is a mega fight once again, fail to do so and the Fury fight remains a cash cow, loser retires fight like Khan-Brook was. Then and only then do you risk going back in with Dubois or Usyk or whoever else is world champion by that point. That is the ‘rebuild’ now and it is perfectly legit for AJ at this point in his career. Nobody could begrudge him for that. It would give the fans what they want.

@Alex881482 ай бұрын
@@mikeh5656 It’s not saying never rematch Dubois again, it’s saying milk your commercial value while it’s there in legacy fights, before you take that risk with DDD.
