I'm Aja Dang it's your favorite video of the year! My 2022 money goals and financial trackers. To check out Digit, click here: link.digit.co/ajadang.digit ✨ 2022 is going to be a brutal year for financial savings as I'm still saving up for a home downpayment (will I ever get a house?!), still have 50% left to go to save for our wedding + my solo bachelorette party (do we still call it a party?). Anyway, it's a lot of money and I anticipate having to cut down on some of my money goals (do I really need a $5000 bach 'party' lol) but it's all in the fun of setting goals and sinking funds!
I do have to say, it is pretty cool to be able to spend money on MYSELF now instead of debt. I think 2022 is the year where I might finally be able to feel the benefits of my hard work. Thanks to Digit for working with me on this video. Membership fees vary. Direct is a deposit account powered by MetaBank®, N.A., Member FDIC. More details can be found at https:/digit.co
To breakdown this video:
main short term goal:
1. Complete wedding fund
2. Finish bill sinking funds
3. $5000 for a bachelorette party... for one. (is that a lot? it seems like a lot. But if I want to purely spoil myself that weekend, seems like it's semi-reasonable?)
4. dog training for when we're in Hawaii next year.
main medium-term financial goals (these are goals within 5 years):
1. FINALLY BUY A DAMN HOME
2. start saving up for a call in anticipation of Chun Li dying.
3. 2023 Honeymoon
4. Pre/Post partum care.

The best way to keep your dog trained is for a trainer to come work with you. The dog training away only works as far as building habits while you're away - but being trained with a trainer alongside you consistently helps establish a great way to communicate with your animals. Also I would suggest Colorado for your bach party :)

Financial planning is so relaxing to me, but this time i have no job for next year and i have no idea what i’ll do. Luckily, my parents are very supportive so i’m moving back in with them and they are homeowners, so they are not charging me for groceries or rent or utilities at all. I even sold my car so i can move back and at least keep my savings instead of spending them. I guess my financial goal for this year is getting a job. I am debt free and with them my only concern is literally just looking for a job (i am single, no kids, no pets). I really hope i find a job. I have been working as a university teacher, but I don’t see myself teaching for the rest of my life and academia doesn’t pay well at all, specially in my country, but we’ll see. I hope i can find one that i can do remotely so i can stay at my parents for a while so i can save the most amount of money possible.

I love this!! Last year, thanks to your inspiring videos, I hit my financial goal of saving a target amount (it was around 20% of my total income which was partly achievable as over the year I changed jobs and had a slight raise I negotiated knowing what I needed in order to do that). I experienced much less financial anxiety going into 2022 and now I also have no problems saying "no" to friends who want to spend larger amounts of money on experiences.. which in the past has always been my kryptonite. And I have an even higher goal to hit this year!

Thank you for sharing your financial goals for 2022 Aja! Do you also track your Savings Rate each month and year? I find this helpful when planning for investments and financial freedom/work optional. It's a lot of patience until one day it "clicks" for our dog.

If you have co-insurance (we had 20% at the time, LA area, with Kaiser for one kiddo and Anthem? PPO for the other), think I out of pocket paid about $8K per kid (no complications, vaginal birth, $2k deductible). BUT that being said, kids are always more expensive than you expect. Son had a fever just over 101 at 1 month old (probably thanks to big sister going to daycare). Went to the ER and they admit you if it's an infant under 60 days ... 3 days in pediatrics, never figured out what he was sick with (really only had a fever), but that was a hefty bill too. $15K is definitely a good base point ... worst case scenario, you don't need it and you have extra cash to throw into investments, etc. If you have extra too, night nurse!

A solo bachelorette sounds cool! I typically do a solo birthday trip but a bachelorette version sounds so awesome!!! I never thought of that 😂 Plus, I don't need to worry about my friends' financial situations because I am very mindful of that too. Thanks for sharing, Aja! Continue being an inspiration!

Hi Aja! I saw that you used ally for sinking funds/buckets before. Do you like digit better?

I wish I could have done a month honeymoon. We did 3 separate ones costing about $8k total. Our small COVID wedding only cost $5k lol

where did you go on your honeymoon(s)?

Maui (recommend nYlos since you’re a foodie!) , Puerto Vallarta and Las Vegas (sparrow+wolf off the strip is our fav restaurant again for your foodie side) we basically just ate the whole time we were on our honeymoons.

I swiched to yearly gyme memebership payment plan after remebering my mom doing that years ago. Downside I had to get a new account but on the bright side I'm paid up for three years and have access to any gym now.

I really enjoyed your financial planning for next year! I’m looking forward to using the digital master plan to incorporate planning for my sinking funds. I think it would be super helpful to see ways to include investment tracking such as retirement funds, crypto, stocks etc.

My daughter’s birth in 2017 cost $4k out-of-pocket. $2600 was to the midwifery practice I used for prenatal care; they were out-of-network. The rest was to the hospital for baby care and my birth. I only spent 16 hours in the hospital since I gave birth in the birthing center and I was low-risk at the time. It would’ve cost alot more if I stayed another night. I did not use anyone postpartum.

Do you still use empower? I signed up for it thinking it would do what digit does. Now I want to cancel and start using digit. Does digit also use a debit card?
@AjaDang

I use both! I have Empower for my Emergency Fund. Empower does not have the ability to open multiple buckets so Digit is great for that.

Well, we already started february but I think I'm still on time to set some realistic financial goals. Love your video, thank you, I wasn't sure on how to start.
