I remember going there in 1980. As a teen, we went to watch a movie. The atmosphere after the movie was electrifying. It had a carnival-like 0kiialmospere. Different people in groups happily chatting, eating, some drinking soda. After the movie, my group was so excited that we all jumped into a cab for the drive back home. Two minutes or so on the cab drive, we all remembered that we drove to the theater with the car of a cousin of one of us. We stopped the cab driver, got out of the cab, and walked back to the theater where the cab was packed.

Thank you Ajim. I entered the National Arts Theatre Igamu Lagos in 1987. My first time ever in Lagos to visit my elder sister.I was just a little boy. Everything was big and beautiful. She arranged with a family friend who works here to get us (my brother and I) tickets. I will never forget this beautiful memory. The dance, the drums and performances of the crew on stage was mesmerising. I’m happy to see that the glory of this beautiful edifice is restored.

Also some information about the design for those wondering. It is designed after a military officers cap. It was built by one of the military regimes.
@MenofFocus-y8y3 күн бұрын
It was built by Obasanjo to celebrate Festival of Art and Culture (FESTAC) 1977

@johnnyjustcome638 the design is just after military cap, and not in memorial of Murtala Mohammed.
@johnnyjustcome6383 күн бұрын
And further more, the design was in loving memorial of the late head of state of Nigeria (Gen. Ramat Muritala Mohammed) who was assassinated a year before Festac 77, and took less than a year from conception to design to finish building of the edifice by Julius Berger construction.
